Come on you are better with the Tomcat than you are with the Mig 29.
Hi Growling Sidewinder, can I BFM with you? if so how do I go about it? I am a real airline pilot with acrobatic experience and DCS experience.
Can someone tell me how i can watch a replay from different camera angle like he doing ? when i watch a replay i can only see the exact original camera view (the F1-F10 keys do nothing) i am using DCS 2.55
I have almost watch all ur videos.. from India. My town doesn't have an airbase but the sky above my town is filled with fighter planes every day..and theres a loud sound blast every day from above shaking the ground... Why?
Man, that Mirage pilot was really aggressive, now that felt like a real dogfight
Yeah, that was scary.
He’s a real pilot
dude he's a real lofe fighter pilot, maybe its their instinct to just be agressive because in real life you don't really have a 2nd chance, its life or death.
@@frankbittner6947 let's see you do it then
That Indiana Jones reference was hilarious. It's shows GS is humble.
Thanks buddy I try to stay humble sometimes it’s nice to get a reminder like fighting a guy like ate.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Funny enough, in that scene Indiana was supposed to actually fight the swordsman, but Harrison Ford wasn't feeling good at the time, so they let him just shoot lmao
@@MateusVarandas_ lol
Mateus Varandas I love that story. I heard it was something like “Delhi belly” from the local food. Apparently it didn’t agree with him.
🤣
Dogfight between GS and Ate?!
- clicks “like” even before watching -
Same buddy
I always do with this guy... he’s the best.
Same here. I started watching Até after seeing his engagements against Growling Sidewinder.
I thought it was just me that does that..
How fortunate for this channel to have such a relationship with so valuable a resource as Ate - and how lucky we all are that he is so generous in sharing his expertise. Good fight and GREAT talk. Thanks!
Thanks Tim glad you enjoyed man.
GS, the post-interviews with Ate are getting better and better. I like how you get him engaged in conversation around current events. It's like watching baseball and having a former player commentating - it gives the viewers an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes and the mindset in place during certain scenarios. Well done, brother!
Thank you rick I’m glad you enjoy the videos makes it worth making just knowing people like you are out there enjoying them. Thank u as always for ur support brother. All the best.
if you like that you should go to ATE's channel, ther are lot more vids in English version too ;)
Your Indians jones comparison was spot on 😂😂
This is the best DCS channel on RUclips (Change My Mind)
GrIM rEaPeRS
Grim Reapers bombing competition is fun too.
@@SteviePonder123 SuperCapTV
Comparing Grim Reapers to Growling Sidewinder is like comparing Ace Combat to DCS. Half of what the Reapers do is for shits and giggles, or just to see if something can be done - entertainment. Don't get me wrong, those guys have me laughing a lot, and their vids are decent. But IMO GS brings a whole different level to his vids.
Ralfidude is pretty good too
I almost spat my drink out when I saw that Indiana Jones meme
Man you are humble and funny at the same time
Ate is person of principle and he is helping a lot to build the interest of youth in combat aviation including me
Thank you GS and ATE
Stay blessed and happy always
BTW congrats on 100k subs
Thank you brother very kind of you grateful to have subs like you in my corner.
@@GrowlingSidewinder It's my pleasure dear to be with you and learn
I was watching the meme again and again it's lit man :)
I must say, I don't have the game but your content is amazing. Having an actual fighter pilot doing combat maneuvers will work wonders for growing the community here, and his input on actual incidents (like the intercept) really helps with context and the "ground truth" on that matter. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much man I appreciate the support.
The mig 29’s hud that refreshes with your display is a pretty good advantage lol. The mirage gunsight feels like 20hz.
The worst part is that the real one is way more fluid, but Razbam decided to reduce drasticly the frequence of the 2000's hud (particulary the gun snake) because of performance issues.. :/
Man are these videos addicting, especially on a big screen. They're so visually stunning and action packed, and it's so cool the way GS explains and breaks everything down in real time. And these videos featuring ATE' are epic.
Glad you’re enjoying man thank u for watching
5:05 Dude, I think Até baited you hard. He knew that he can hit you eventually with the guns, but when you tried the vertical, he was saving the missile for that moment. Amazing as always.
"Someone please take that pointy triangle away from my six!!"
- GS
You should make a call out for any Russian pilots that want to engage in a virtual dogfight.
Last time I was this early Ate was still in the French Air Force
Lol
He never was though, he flew the Navy Rafale!
Actually the French navy
Man, you can't imagine how much I'm learning and how much I'm enjoying seeing this dogfights with this 2 great legends!!! ATE is such a cool guy!
How much dogfight have you made with ate?
Growling Sidewinder : YES
"I know what you're thinking. 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well to tell you the truth I kind of lost track myself in all this exci- No, just kidding." -Ate, round one.
You should do a tournament with ATÉ. In the mirage vs you in every other plane .
Would be interesting to see how quickly Ate can adapt to other planes too. As in him trtying other planes I mean
It'd be hilarious if ATE even smokes GS in the A-10 haha
@@alje311 Can't hear you over the BRRRRRRRRRTTTTTT!!!
But not the F22 Or the SU57 because he’d win anyway. So let’s not mind the 2 aircraft for once
I love the psych warfare Ate does on you. Head on fights with guns blazing in your face? That impacts your thinking if you're not used to such aggression. And even if you were, your brain can't help but worry and that's going to affect your performance.
And that gunning you while still having a spare missile. Nice one.
Another awesome video. Having Ate give his input is priceless. Any other pros coming to this channel 🙏?
If I find any willing I will deff bring them on
@@GrowlingSidewinder I know you probably get this a lot but your knowledge of ACM is pretty in-depth it seems and in line with tactics that I've heard former pilots discuss on podcasts etc. Can you point me to some good resources for beginners to learn more about ACM?
@@andrewcena plenty of manuals from air forces out there if you look on the Internet. Most non BVR stuff is open source.
Fun fact about that Indiana Jones scene Harrison ford was feeling sick when they filmed it and originally was not going to just shoot him but he did that and the director liked it.
That moment you realize...”I forgot he had one more missile, man” (chuckles).
Two years and i still come back to watch your Ate dog fights. They were some of your best videos.
re - 6:10
GS's attempt to evade Até reminded GS of the Sword vs Gun fight in Indiana Jones - Raiders movie.
I think it also reminded me of a Firefly episode called The Message. Wash, the pilot of Serenity, is trying to evade some Federal Alliance Marshalls and so he takes a DANGEROUS, winding and torturous route through some mountain valleys. He expects that his pursuers will follow him through the valley and that they'll give up if it gets too dangerous for them. Instead, the pursuers don't bother following Serenity into the valley. They are still following Serenity, but they're doing it from 2,000 feet above them, outside the valleys that Serenity is insanely flying through.
Anyway, 6:10 here reminded me of that scene from Firefly. At 6:10 GS is dancing around, trying to be evasive, expecting that he's making himself more difficult to hit. In reality, Até is sitting comfortably behind him, watching him do this crazy, funny stuff. Sure, the encounter here ends with a missile being sent to GS, whereas the Firefly scene ends with Serenity surrendering, but it's not the ending that's similar, it's the bit where a highly competent pilot does his best to evade pursuit, only to find that nothing he did had any effect on the pursuit and he may as well have just been flying in a straight line...
Awesome having Ate` on the channel, hopefully this becomes a regular thing.
ATE! ATE! Keep the dogfights coming! You both seem to be one of the most interesting dogfights to watch in DCS especially when ATE does stuff that has you saying “I don’t even know what he did there” “look at that!” In the TACView.
Edit: The Indiana Jones reference was priceless!
these fights with ATÉ are amazing and very thrilling i love them so much
Love seeing Ate on the channel. He always has great information and makes for great air combat. You both rock!
Another reason for the whole "flex muscles" is that you fly towards the other country's airspace and record how long response times they have. The Russians does that all the time along the baltic countries, to test how long our scramble times are.
@@gort8203 totally agree. Even though I'm russian, I don't see any reason of that sort of maneuvers. Pretty sure (at least, I hope) the pilots are warned not to do silly things again wherever the interception takes place. I don't watch TV, hence do not know much about the official russian point of view except "it happened somewhere above the Baltic Sea", but by my opinion behaviour like this may only be justified only in case those bombers were really-really close, were silent and were going straight to the border ignoring everything.
Let's look a bit deeper into relation between Russian and NATO airforces.
Here is a quick sample of what it generally looks like for Russians to work in the same airspace with NATO "partners" (Syria).
"Don't shoot them with combat weapons - that's the rule both sides will stick to. Aside from that, "partners" will make your combat mission, given that they don't like what you are doing, as uncomfortable as possible by any means. There's a million ways to do that. The most typical way is jamming your communications and navigation. Jamming is the most "soft" and "polite" of these. They can cross your combat course at minimum intervals and distances, knocking you off the route with engine stream. They can dump fuel on you, they can bombard you with flares. They can lock you with all they have and simulate attacks, turning away at the last moment. Can, on your altitude, run a couple drones in your face. And as soon as the radar-warning station is on, it will keep yelling at you all the time, no avoiding that."
Hence, I am at no surprise that Russians wanted that B-52 pilots to feel certain mild discomfort.
Ayr Novem pretty interesting, never seen that this way. Can you link the source ?
@@ayrnovem9028 - The issue, however, is that the planes could have crashed had the B-52 pilot accelerated or moved even slightly. Then you'd have a downed B-52 but also a downed Su-27. That benefits no one and really has the risk of escalating things. Who's to say an American F-22 pilot, seeking revenge, wouldn't do the same to a Tu-95 flying near Alaska? Practicing professional intercepts is a good way to maintain readiness and stability for both sides.
@@VisibilityFoggy
1) Actually their relative speed is quite low, so a collision would not 100% result in a crash. Still pretty dangerous, of course.
2) You and Ate are right about professional intercepts. But the issue is that since USAF has chosen to play rough in Syria, Russians have no reason to stay polite over Black Sea.
Kudos to you taking on a pilot. He's so aggressive.
That comparing with indiana jones making me laugh even harder than what already happened 🤣
It's so cool to see how far you've grown from your videos while staying true to yourself. Genuinely wishing you nothing but success. You'll never know how much I appreciate your content, it was genuinely something I'd look forward to after coming home. Thanks for being awesome G.S.

Plus that first dogfight and its end and the apt comparison with that scene from indiana jones was gold man..
Its great watching these fox 2 dogfights between you and Ate'.
Awesome stuff.
Keep it up bro.
I'd like to see the designers model a rafale, just so Ate can get a chance to fly one in the game. That would be scary!!!!
Little update they are working on it
You made me laugh with the Indiana Jones scene comparison. That was funny
I didnt thought that your content could still improve. This video prove me wrong. Thrilling, informative and funny.
That was so weird, at 6:02 as you’re talking about your fancy snap roll jink while he’s just sitting there watching it and then fires his Fox2 I had the thought it reminded me of the Indiana Jones scene which you then literally say the exact same thing not moments later 😂
"ATÉ" is a portuguese word that means "See you". Makes sense... LOL
Yes.
I can conffirm
Love the new intro GS. I learn so much from your videos and it helps me out a lot in my dogfights etc. Keep up the good work!
gonna pre-emptively like this when I see ate in the title
The Mig29, Su29 and there variants are such beautiful planes.
Nice fight with the MigG29, it's one of few the modern era jets in DCS that needs full hands-on attention for control input(which is really rewarding when winning a dogfight). Wish you opened the little control input window to show your rudder input on the 29 at low energy states.
Also with managing energy in the MiG29, be aware of the faster energy bleed when maneuvering. The front leading edge flaps only fully lower and stays fully deflected even if you ease on stick pressure. Makes for a really draggy configuration, but the unloaded acceleration makes up for that :)
I love this stuff with Ate! Hope you can collab with Mover on something too, then you'd have two fighter pilot guests!
I just love those memes drooped out of nowhere in your videos, if there's one way to learn something is with humor.
Awesome video, I really like seeing you dogfighting with the 29.
I hope to see some more videos of WVRs but with the F-15 and the F-14, knowing those old lady's don't have any fancy high-off-boresight shooting capability or a good nose authority at low speeds.
About russian intercept over black sea : Our pilots learn these maneuvers FOR YEARS. It was aerobatics, guys. Nothing rash. You shouldn't fly near the borders. Such maneuvers, in fact, are needed so that the pilots - border violators would think "damn it, he's sick" - believe me, it works. Stopping someone at the cost of your life has always been a heroic act, hasn't it?
By the Way^ You did a great job with Mirage in the second round. I'm proud of Mig and the one who was able to do it sitting in the cockpit against the Mirage.
You are like the best game pilot I've ever seen on youtube and I learned how to do the pugachevs cobra maneuver in some another game by watching your videos I understood the concept and try to do it and I was successful so thanks teacher lmao
You should do more dogfights with the su-27, they are a bit rare compared to others on your channel, just a recommendation :))))))))
I would have preferred Mig-29 using its off-boresight helmet as this is what would have happened in a realistic battle against NATO, considering the two aircraft were contemporaries against each other.
Mig-29S is the equivalent of the 2000-5, from late 90s. If you want RP NATO engagement from the mid 80s, boresight didnt exist.
Agreed. Im not sure but isnt it because others higher AoA they have that Helmet. Anyway its Great to see Ate in the Mirage. If he is so agresive, how are the "others" then..
....5:38 he was literally sitting back there saying “whhhhat the hell is this dude doing...fox 2”
So much for fox-2 being over quickly. Just watched yesterday the gun battle
Oh, thanks to that gun battle, I finally learned what the 18 corner speed is. Wouldn't believe how closely guarded that secret seems to be.
And your tutorials were great. Helped figure out a bunch of tasks the in game tutorial didn't cover.
Its all aspect high off bore sight fox 2 fights that end very quickly, not legacy fox 2 like in this video.
You and Até should do a WWII same vs same guns fight in the Mustang or Bf109, etc! Maybe it could level the (familiarity and experience) playing field some and see how much knowledge of the real fundamentals helps in a fight like that!
I'm so glad you brought up indiana jones when you did that jink. I thought the same thing! Lol
I really enjoyed Ate's commentary on that international incident.
Love, love, love having a real fighter pilot comment on this stuff.
@5:49 the first time I saw this I says to myself, 'sidewinder is all over the place and Ate just kinda shifted his nose. Then you come with the Indiana Jones ref. good stuff man.
You deserve a lot more subs bud killing it on these videos I’m just now learning dcs properly with both the fa-18 and F-14
thank you man, really appreciate that.
For sure was in the server last night with you splashing bandits. Look forward to flying with you or one day dogfighting you as well as I get more proficient with the jets
This is the most intense visual range combat I have ever seen in DCS. Boost those pilot respirator sounds and slap on some tense music in there and you got a brilliant short film
Yeah yeah yeah. Imagine six Russian Nuclear capale bombers, just outside the coast of the US, on a course to US mainland.
I am SURE the F-22 wouldnt be agressive at all :D
Guys.. they are just messing with each other like militaries have always done. Chillax
Was pretty dangerous of course
I’d be your typical road rager but in the air. “Watch where you’re flying you jerk!”
Still, about the intercept.
Pretty sure the aggressive maneuver was intentional and maybe not professional.
But we are aware about the US and Russia have that "Cold war itch" with each other. And the other likes to mess with create some controversy etc around that. So, if it were some non US or anyone allied to USA. Maybe they'd be professional. All these antics by RuAF are pretty much very intentional. Universally it is unprofessional, but Russia seems to have some select views on that when intercepting US or its allied nations.
us and russia have no reason to fight anyway
Sure they have a small grudge but no reason to go to war
I discoveredyour channel through ate's. you often say "that's"luck" on other tubes but I really think you should do yourself justice and accept you are quite skillfull. Learned a lot with your channels both of you.
On the first kill when you said "I was too busy" I had the image of the same situation with the Gs and the stress of having death on your trail for real.
Anyway tx for your videos.
Thank you very kind of you man. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I'm really impressed. I'm not used to seeing you on the ropes like that, but Ate is incredible...
I didn't really read the whole comment section, I'll just reming that both in 1981 and 1989 the F-14s intercepted Libyans over international waters. But in 1981, the Su-22s were intercepting a S-3 just off the coast of Libya, the S-3 was withing 12 miles off the coast. The Tomcats though intercepted the Su-22s to save the S-3, but the Su-22s never threatened the battle group or something. I'm just mentioning, because when I finished listening ATE's explanation on the whole intercept thing, this 1981 incident just doesn't really make any sense in my head.
Still, about the intercept.
Pretty sure the aggressive maneuver was intentional and maybe not professional.

He's like a pit bull who won't let go of the rope. I love these videos with you two!
6:09 That is exactly how it looked. I'm sure Ate's expression was just like Harrison Ford's.
Holy crap that intro made me jump out of my seat. In a good way though! Overall I've enjoyed this format of videos you and ATÉ have been collaborating to make. It's a great mix of your well narrated DCS gameplay with a follow up interview/discussion about various aviation stories. It really works well. Thanks for this.
@growlingsidewinder any chance of you and ate flying a bvr mission/engagement? It would be awesome for him to take flight lead and see how he utilized you in a 2v2 or 2v4 situation... I know he has restrictions on high off boresight stuff but I couldn’t remember if that was the case for bvr/fox 3 as well

Ate is one of your best adversaries.
I bought his book, can recommend!
I was thinking about that scene from Indiana Jones like 5 seconds before you mentioned it! 🤣
Man! I never get tired of these! And in Ate', you have a very worthy opponent.
I have noticed something about Até, once he sinks his teeth into you he’s not letting go
Couldn’t agree more, I’ve never turned the tables on him.
Growling Sidewinder you should play on his terms, with persistence comes success
Regarding the danger of crossing in front, I’m reminded of the XB-70/F-104 collision back in the ‘60s. Not the same thing, but it illustrates the danger of such close maneuvers.
lol _ i ve seen video from both sides ^^
and i love that moment when you say "i will need luck" when in the same time ATE is saying "raah he is too fast i cant reach him" ^^
morale is important for sure ^^
Always remember that no matter if your plane is better or not at anything, the real weapon is the pilot in the cockpit. 2 4th gens means it's really up to how well the pilot is with said plane and its capabilities

Wrong. They don't even know when our F22's are reading the numbers of their tails. In fact F22 pilots are trained to fight while bent over laughing.

You looked like a Chinese kite in that first one. Took the tail right off ya! I'm amazed you didn't ride the hulk of the missle down. Good fight!
Most of us would lose conciousness in the first turn if we were in real planes.
I love these videos with ATE!! Keep them coming!
At roughly the 10 minute mark, in future do a more horizontal turn, cutting down then up, while reducing throttle. It means he will have to turn further to get an effective angle for his missile, and since he is already slow it will take him a lot longer
Thank you for the great video and discussion, really appreciate the insight by a real fighter pilot.
glad you enjoyed JC thank you for watching
Man I love your videos, you inspired me to try and fly even though I don’t have a hotas
Love seeing your fights with Ate as well as getting his take on the B-52 intercept that happened recently. In the future perhaps you could get this awesome pilot into a 1v1 in a Warbird.
Keep up the great work.
Can you please provide a textbook definition of "high aspect shot" and "snap shot"? I understand both concepts generally, but it would help to have a more technical definition. Thank you!
Good on you for taking things easy and having fun. The Indiana Jones comparison is hilarious.
Great fights! Thanks for these videos. Thanks to Até too!
Great video. Dude I cracked up when you showed the Indiana Jones cut.
Great video with ATE, hope he does a D-Brief of this video like he did with the other one. Keep up the great work guys.
I love those turns at 7 or 9G during a minute. Good tactic :D
In 2006 we intercept pair SU27 over the Baltic sea near Lituania, but both sides keep calm, this was in Lithuania space and SU27 when seeing as turn back to international space. This always is nerve-racking, and adding not necessary risk is simply stupid. Too easily one mistake may change this in a big international incident with serious casualty.
I always love your videos with Até!
5;38...that's the difference between a real fighter pilot and the rest of us, GS was swirling all over the place, and Até just chilling behind him....cold blood at its finest
