One of worst parts of being a commercial driver is, dealing with the scale and law enforcement.
I’ve gotten to the point that I figure I’m getting a ticket and so I treat them exactly how they treat me. Funny thing is, I have yet to receive a ticket for my actions or attitude.
When I was a nice guy to an arrogant cop or scale master I got screwed with a ticket.
So very happy I’m less than 10 years from retiring
I love the isolation of trucking down the road. You learn a lot about yourself. Be safe Big Dan!
Passed you in WV on the turnpike Monday, you didn't have your radio on, so i gave a toot toot on the air horn.
one of the joys of trucking..that BEAUTIFUL sunrise..just magnificent!
For bus drivers, we have to decide if entry is required. My rule is if the sign says Trucks, I bypass. If the sign says Commercial, I stop. AZ specifies Buses must stop, so no confusion there.
You are being to kind. This guy hits a concrete barrier in the middle of a wide open parking lot. Unfortunately the days of most people skillfully driving a semi are gone. Any more it seems like if they can reach the pedals these companies turn them loose. I understand there is a severe shortage of drivers but it comes at the expense of safety. I am a retired 40 plus year of OTR driver and now travel a lot pulling a fifth wheel camper and the shenanigans I see from so called professional drivers is insane. I routinely have them pass me in construction zones going 70 mph or more. Or they get on your ass to where all you see is grill because they are pissed off at you for going the speed limit. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for true professional drivers but it just seems to me guys like you are getting rarer than a 3 dollar bill.
Just wait until the start handing out CDL's to all of Biden's "guests".
If it was dark outside with no outdoor lighting, one could possibly hit a concrete barrier as nobody would expect something like that in the middle of a parking lot. You sound as phony as $3 bill your referring to.
There is not a shortage of drivers. Alot of drivers can't find work. There is a shortage of good paying jobs, cause they don't want to pay much because they can get people that cheap that don't speak English. You don't ever have to know English to get a CDL.
Shortage of professional drivers. There’s plethora of flip flopperz wearing pajamas that unfortunately are called truck drivers
That's a sharp looking Mercer jacket.......Safe travels.
As long as you Don’t have Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane Rushing Out of the Weigh Station to Pull you Over on the Shoulder, you should be Good. 😬👍🙏
And also Dan that song is so beautiful and also thank you for sharing it
Blue pipe signifies DRINKING WATER.
!
Sure love following ya and America on your travels
You’re a heck of a trucker. Super trucker in fact 😂
Safe travels God bless you
HEY DAN BEAUTIFUL RIDE TO DAY MAN THAT SKY WAS AMAZING !! BE BLESSED SAY SAFE !! 🐾🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾🐾
Mother Narure creates some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Have a safe ride.
Ad a lowly 4 wheeler just about done with a 6,000 m. site seeing run wandering from CA to PA and returning - don't know about scales except the entrance & exit are vastly different which greatly impacts everyone.
General highway law could stand some uniformity also.
Stay safe. Thank you.
You're a real trucker when you talk about 450 miles like its just a trip to the store.
Sunrises while driving give you energy to complete the trip.
😊
Dan, you may be a hoarder:)😂
Wonderful sunrise! I get a kick out of you saying you were going to “swing by Louisville” (about450 miles) like it was me saying I would swing by the grocery store on my way home 😊 Stay safe and give Bailey a pat or two from me.
I was an owner/operator back in the late 70's. 1972 Peterbilt 352, 8V71, 13spd. I've been binge watching your channel over the past several days. Remember a lot of the the places you've stop. Although trucking has changed quite a bit since then, it's still a part of my life I'm glad to have experience. And, at times, I miss it. Keep up the videos!
Hey Dan yur r The Greatest... great vids you and Bailey
What state would you say has the hardest inspections?
The East bound scale on I-70 between Oak Grove Mo and Odessa Mo. Was flattened one nite during a snow event by an empty flatbed driver by backing his trailer into it back in the late 70 or early 80s if I rember correctly. At that time I was living in Blue Springs Mo.,and that was quite the news story. Those scale houses had a bad reputation with the drivers back then. They caught up with him later.
I remember that happening.
Keep it working Pal 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Another professional attitude to life on the road
Thanks Dan for your time and insight into your life
Stay safe 🇬🇧🌵👍
Another good one Dan Thanks for the video's 🚛🇺🇸👍
"Everything in there without throwing anything out" sound like my garage! lol
Thanks for the video, Dan.
How will the changes to the Independent Contractor law affect you and Mercer?
Thanks and travel safe!!!
Bailey s the best !
Wonderful song in there @ 7:00. Best Wishes Dan & Bailey.
You have seen just about all of the crazy things that happen on the road. I have said it before. . . . "Your patience is exemplary." Take care.
Awesome video Dan👍👍👍 but I enjoy all your videos. I just don’t comment on all of them.
Dan Dan the professional flat deck man. I really like your videos Dan. You truck like I always wanted to truck when I was out there. Boy, do I want to go back out there, I miss that life style so much. I don’t miss all the crap that comes with it especially since most four wheelers don’t respect the trucks like they use to but also truck drivers don’t act like they use to. Your tractor and trailer always looking there best. Thanks for posting Dan. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails to you. D…
Your headed to my hometown. Would love to see video as you head into town, probably on 64 through the Hampton Roads Tunnel
Great content Dan, and I enjoy hearing your explanation of all the repairs/maintenance you take care off too!
Happy valentine to you and your family and also let Bailey I said hi
Looking good looking good Dan
You are being too kind for the driver that hit the barrier , You know just like I know that is where we get the name steering wheelholder 😂
be safe out there take care yourselve Dan
NICE PICK UP 💪
Hey Dan 👋👍✌️
Nice rig dan, BTW I'm also a passionate trucker and enjoy your channel but I'm curious to hear some back story as in how and why u became a trucker, how long u been trucking and if u had it to do all over again would u still be a trucker?
Those are just some of the Qs i have and all the other general stuff in trucking.
I'm a big fan and I love my job I wouldn't do anything else I'm irish 33 yrs old and truck all over 🇮🇪 and Europe.
KEEP ON TRUCKIN
Ya I just drill out the screws put JB weld were the new screws set duct tape the light let set …
This just popped up. Now I can watch it.
Hi, just found you on RUclips , I'm a retired driver from the UK, very interested in your rig , it looks awesome, will be following you from now on. 👍
In some states, the sign posted says empty flatbed trucks and bobtail do not need to pull into scale house even if the scale house is open.
I’d agree with that, what the heck are you doing to be weighing in an empty truck, what are you trying to do ?
😅Dan
As always luv the music!
That reminds me of a checkpoint in CA, (in a car), the sign said stop at the booth, nobody was there, l left even though l heard someone not in the booth yell whoa, l didn't. 10 miles down the road CHIPS stopped me and l told him l came to a fullstop then proceeded. He gave me a sobreiety test !
Nice ride and video.. Probably rolled through Staunton VA where 64 meets 81… Lived in Staunton for awhile early 90’s… Shenandoah Valley is awesome..Stay safe
Lived in Williamsburg VA for many years. They do a great job with the rest areas. Safe travels to you and Bailey!
Guten M🌞rgen Dan, THANKS for the SoDak views 😊 My home state. 'N yep, it's "breezy" there 😂
Without a doubt, you score the BEST music on your vids ! ❤👍🇺🇸 I spend a lot of time on UTube looking for the somgs you post. 😅
SAFE travels for you 'n Ms Bailey !! 🙏
You're always the professional, even at someone else's misfortune. This is exactly why I subscribe to your channel. Safe Travels to you and Bailey.👍
Hi Dan always enjoy riding along with you and Bailey. Take care drive safe from Tim in Nova Scotia Canada.
You are right Dan! Just a little loss of concentration and unfortunate things happen, I wiped a set of tires off the rims in Va. by thinking about a McDonald’s Milk Shake. (Didn’t remember the curb when pulling into their truck parking) Good Video!
My first solo load with CRST in 1989 I went the wrong way heading to Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Instead of staying in 40 to I-81 I ended up having to take I-64. Low brakes going down hill into Charlottesville. Brakes were smoking. Veterans drivers told me not to panic. I failed to stop at brake check area. Lol.
Are there any mobile scales that will by law stop you anywhere anytime and check your truck weights??
Indeed they still do that. Some states more than others. I seem to see a lot of that in Wisconsin.
i got yelled at in kentucky they weighed each set of tandems had to back up
no joke i weighed 79,850 wood pellets
Hey fellow truckers! Let you know, you tube has all 3 of the "Smokey and the Bandit" movies. Free. You young bucks, check them out if you've never seen them. Watch them again if you have. I forgot how good they were. And Sally Fields? Whoa!
It's good to have friends with skills opposite of yours, trading help and a few minutes of time for one another helps keep both your wheels rolling safely!.
Safe travels Dan and bailey!!!✌️😏
I was hoping you were changing out your dump truck head lights for some 379 or 359 ones
Not no dump truck lights🤣
Stack that stuff in your pickup and you will have room for those boxes. If you stay on I-64 all the way you went right by my place here in Lexington, Virginia. Wish I saw you.
I would strongly recommend mega ramps on the step deck
That scale is about 30 miles from my house, and they do that almost everytime I come across.
I dont know what they teach those new drivers but a lot off them get stuck on a corner, a pole or a small rock lol.
ok Dan, where's the smoke tarp, buddy! 😮😅
I was thinking the same thing. 😳
yep you left your wallet on the counter at the truck stop
Get you some these, great for mounting. snap gopro mount
Yeah a new video
Beautiful sunrise. Great music. Stay safe.
You need oklahoma pike pass or they will send a bill
It’s known as a Weigh Station!
Great video Dan 👍👍👍🐕
"I don't need those anymore" famous last words🤣
You were in my neck of the woods! Have a great day and be safe.
In. 99. I drove. For. Five. Months. It. Wasn’t. For me. I came. Close. To losing it. I have. Respect. For. You It.s. A A real. Job you have. To. Counts it Thanks
Bailey seems to be doing all the work
Bailey needs a diet.....😄
IS THAT ON THE WEST BOUND SIDE
always good music
Beautiful sunrise! Be safe Dan.
Proud of you for not throwing anything away😂. Always look forward to your videos.
Keep on trucking Dan
👍😎👍
Since the FEDs want to regulate this industry, then they should also require ALL states to have the same scale setup that they outline in the regulations so all drivers know exactly what a trip across the scales consist of.
The feds already have too much control!
Beautiful sky
👍
Scales should be illegal. Dot should be out driving around to pull drivers over and get their scales out if they wanna weigh you. If a driver wants to break the law they aren't going to drive to a scale. Povs should have chicken houses also and be getting inspected if it's really about safety.
Just like TSA at the airports. All different.
Safe Travels. I’ve been sick, that’s why I hadn’t commented the last 2-3 videos. Love ❤️ ❤❤❤❤ Miss Bailey. Give her a hug, smooches, & scratches behind each ear. She who must be obeyed. I live in the Heart of Football Country & the Southeastern Conference, in Titletown…Tuscaloosa, AL. We live football 24/7/365 a year & get my fill, so I’m not a big nfl fan. I keep up w/our Graduates but that’s abt. It. I haven’t watched a Super Bowl since 1984 when I was in Korea w/ the Army. It’s become too glitzy & more hot air than game. Plus they don’t believe in the same things I do.
Thanks Dan
A "weight station"? OK, thats different.
Yea, Langley AFB, I retired out of there.
if you ever need somewhere to store anything let me know I only live 40 minutes north of Louisville
Come on dan you got plenty of room in the pickup van line that ting
No smoke trap required on that pipe??
What kind of cb anntena you have on your truck
thats me dan i want those CRATES
Dan nice video!
Did you stop by CB shop?
OK means go in my mind .
Run at night no prob
He hit a Jersey barrier
Thank you 👍
Stay safe
:)
