IINM, hitting hostages also drops the multiplier similarly to getting hit and would likely screw up a counterstop attempt. Seriously, Sega needs to bring all 3 Virtua Cops over to PS4. Sure there is the PS2 version of 1&2, but new TVs and the Guncon 2 don't get along. It's a sacrilege that VC3 didn't get brought over to a console.

Back when light gun games have an irritating flashing lights every time you fire a weapon, but thanks to Porygon incident, all light gun games removed the flashing lights when firing a weapon.
It's not every time you shoot. It marks every time you get a hit. Porygon didn't make that go away, that was colored strobe effects. There were still TONS of light gun games that did this well after that incident, because one very very fast flash a few times is not going to cause anywhere near as much harm. Hell, I don't think I played a light gun game that *came out* before the Pokemon anime blew up and I know this. Time Crisis 3 was doing it and that was 5 years later!
It’s how the technology worked at the time. When you fired the gun, the screen would flash and then it would time how long it would take for the gun to catch the flash. Because of how CRT displays work, it was possible to use that delay to figure out where on the screen the flash was picked up and thus where the gun is pointed.
Great job! Is there some rank system with the SEGA lightgun games? E.g. Virtual Cop, House of the Dead series... Technically, after surviving without taking any damage, I can see a few changes within the game... Its only a thought from an arcade gamer... Also Will you do Virtua Cop 2 or maybe a retro SEGA game when you have done a few practice runs in the future?
It feels like some enemies do shoot faster when you have a lot of lives, with some enemies only letting a few frames before shooting I'll be looking into Virtua Cop 2 soon, also other light-gun games too

The Virtua Cop series has the most suicidal hostages I've ever seen in a video game. They jump right in front of your gun, what is with them?
Oh indeed, it is really easy to just shoot them, but not too difficult to memorise them all

I wish it was like that. But in Virtua Cop, shooting a hostage costs you a life. You could easily get a Game Over that way.

All these years of playing this classic and i never knew you could shoot the door in stage 1 for a machine gun.

For the time of release, VC1 was really amazing. I do also enjoy VC3, but when playing it for score, it becomes a different game.
