- Here is a high scoring, 1 credit clear run of House of the Dead 4, SEGA's 2005 arcade light gun game, on the PS3 Playstation Move version.
With HOTD4, the game is very difficult, because of the way the enemies attack you.
Scoring in this game can be very difficult too, the best way is to leave enemies to get as close as possible, hope they grab onto you, and if not, then to shoot them as late as possible, getting as many extra hits as you can.
Because of this, I do lose a lot of lives, but that is just part of the strategy. I can play through a lot of the game without getting many hits, but the score would be a lot less, and it would be less interesting to watch. There was an update to this in arcades, called House of the Dead 4 Special, which included 2 new stages and is also part of the Playstation 3 release.
Apologies for some poor play in areas, I sneezed a few times in the run, but at least I got over 500k points on a 1cc, which was my target.

I didn't even knew there was MANY different hidden paths on early stages. If only I could get my hands on that game again though.

To me, shaking a gun is really hard. It's really difficult to fill the gauge to max before zombie attacks me. Also, I noticed that some people in the arcade didn't last long since they didn't know how to shake a gun when zombie grabs them. In addition, you're great since you're keep aiming for heads.
+Timothy Jun It can be difficult to do the gun shaking for a long period of time, the PS3 version has issues with the sight going off after shaking hard, so you have to do it in a way that doesn't move the sight too much,
People are good at skipping or ignoring any helpful hints in arcade games

Here's a tip for you while fighting Justice everytime he protects his tongue throw a grenade and everytime he isn't covering his tongue just keep shooting

Tip for fighting Justice: Use grenades against him as it will 1 shot him. But you will have to save up every grenade you have.
Amazing work! I will never get enough of your other videos, but I tried HOTD4 with a friend and... Wow. It is so unbearably unfair and frustrating with the cancel patterns. Now I watch your video and... Are you serious. It's like Battle Garegga level. Do you shoot elsewhere to lower your ratio so you don't get the S grade at the end of each level? In order to avoid rank increase? And "milking" enemies waiting for them to grab you to ensure Perfect ratings?
If so, congratulations, in my eyes (and many others I hope) you will be this person who beat some sadistic interpretation of a shooter that emerged in someone's mind at Raizing, while actually scoring high!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go cry somewhere for having remembered my experience with the game.

I've compared the game to Garegga before, as the bosses in this sure feel harder when you got 5 lives, but just about manageable
I don't get S rank as I try too much to shoot the enemies in the head, that my accuracy always drops some
+Smraedis Considering the number of "Perfects!" you score in a stage and how little damage you take, I find the ranking system in HotD3 and 4 to be pretty stupid anyway.

How does the scoring work in HOD4? I understand this so far:
+10 for any body shot
+70 for a headshot
+290 for Good
+320 for Excellent
+370 for Amazing
+450 for Perfect
I only don't understand the critical shot bonus'. I figured they would be more uniformly scaled? I dunno.

Justice is really easy to beat once you figure him out.
You could kill him in 1 minute if you have all your grenades haha. You can throw them into his mouth.

It ain't easy to do a NO MISS run with the HOTD series...
I tried that in House Of The Dead 3 on pc and only succeed in no damage for the first two stages. On the plus side, I am improving on my gameplay and receiving a lot less on very hard difficulty.

Fair enough. Well, it can be fiddly in my view as well at times especially when it came to the last part in mission two where you have to do the "head shot" and many things can screw up at that part (sometimes its a bit of luck but mostly timing)... But its all cool and fun since it makes use of what light gun games should be released for the Wii.

I normally go player 2 in this game. So depending which player you go for, both James and Kate have different quotes after defeating each boss except for The World
Playing in arcade is harder than it looks
When I play it it gets hard after I play this many times it's gets easier
Doesn't help that most machines don't seem to have properly-calibrated guns. I went to an arcade in London last year which had the widescreen version of the game, but the guns could literally only shoot in a small square in the centre of the screen.

DukeofColumbia Apparently the developers mentioned the mystery man made his first official appearance in hotd 3 and that he wasn't someone who appears in a previous hotd game. But there's theories and evidence that suggests it either Papa Caesar or Harry Harris considering the mystery man is limping on his right leg. Papa Caesar and Harry Harris are the only two characters that sustained a leg injury with Harry getting his injury from Strength and Caesar being shot by Isaac Washington. One could say someone recovered Caesar's body like Goldman did to Curien. In one of the cutscenes in hotd 2 Goldman says it's been a while, my friends from ams, yes its me Goldman implying he had help from someone or some people within ams. Or the third suspect: Isaac Washington's father. Papa Caesar in hotd overkill says at the end of the recording are you aware your father is still alive?

I remember that the arcade version struggles with frame rate at certain parts.. like the star boss battle for example, from the looks of it the ps3 version seems smoother?
The arcade version runs at a perfect 60 FPS with more demanding graphics than the ps3 version and it was made in 2004 lol. The Sega Lindbergh is a really powerful piece of hardware. If you saw it struggling it’s probably cause it’s really old now and been in use for a while

House of dead 1 had pretty average voice acting too. It wasn't that bad.
To be fair, House of Dead 2 and Scarlet Dawn are the only ones that have bad voice acting. House of dead 3 was pretty much okay too.

what i done on the first boss (justice) was get the yellow bar to halfway then throw a grenade at his tongue. this proves very effective because he waits there as the grenade goes off and takes all the yellow bar health away
