      No. This is what parents usually get confused in it.
      And because they confused about so they usually find excuses by lets say saying they need this.
      No. Thats not the truth.
      They doing like this is because of their lack of feeling on safety and security.
      To avoid or to change the mind.
      1. This is the must. Parents have to know and knowledge what is the real real world instead of based on their own thinking.
      They think this world is getting bad.
      They think there are many wicked persons and will hurt their kids
      2. Steve already said let the kids practice how to use the disciplines in order to they will know how to protect themselves.
      Give space is not just for the freedom but also let the kids shoulder up their duties.
      Stop these damn" protective" excuses!!
      Stop it!!

      Gordon .94 They do! They just won’t admit it. I had a strict mother many years ago, but not as bad as her, and when I was supposed to be at debate club I was out being bad with my older boyfriend. My sister would say she was going to youth club at church. Even when you get dropped off, you just arrange for someone to pick you up! The stricter you are with your kids, the more inventive and realistic the excuses get.

He had heard her telling someone that she'd used the same amount that I'd given her on the gambling boat . I was there , but too far away to hear what she'd said ; but he did , he said and that's why ain't no more money leaving my house ! She say , what ? That's my daughter ! Y'all aren't married ! I started telling her no . Now we don't even have a relationship , which btw ; we were never really close anyway . I was just being dumb because she was my mom . Now that my gram just passed , I gotta face her being fake nice at the funeral ; if she even speaks at all !

    You’d know very well you wouldn’t consider that as love.

    Parents like her are setting themselves up big-time. Then they wonder why their children are still living at home not independent in their thirties. Or they setting themselves up for rebellion. The child will rebel and do things (which they wouldn't let them do) behind your back in a negative way which will end badly.

    • @blais3rd
      @blais3rd 6 лет назад +46

      That's exactly my and my sister's situation. I'm 27 this year yet my mom feels the need to control everything. She's always complaining about how we're not independent and still depends on her. But when we try to make our own decision, she gets mad that we're deciding without her say so. And me and sisters have all done things behind her back, exactly because we know how overreacting she would be.

    • @kendlem114
      @kendlem114 6 лет назад +9

      My dad is the controlling one and sets me up like this, tells me who to hang out with, asks me who I'm hanging out with, and questions every decision I make and yells, whether if I make no mistake or a mistake, I'm 20 and I have a difficult time asking for help if I really need it, not money wise but just questions. I barely tell my dad anything, and I always get paranoid that they'll find out anything, even though I live 2 hours away from them. Both my parents get mad if I don't call them for more than 3 days, then they get annoyed if I call them more. I am in a constant state of wanting to rebel, feeling like I missed out since my parents were always strict, they've even gotten mad I was out on a Friday night past 8 pm. Thank god I have good friends, if I had friends who went out all the time I would probably flunk out.

They ALWAYS know what to say and I turned out pretty good LOL everything I have did my parents know.

    I felt like she took the words right out of my mouth. I’m speechless. My mother does the same exact thing. I thought it was normal. And I’m older than that girl. I had to tell her she needs to respect my boundaries and she still crossed them anyway directly after I told her and I have a great head on my shoulders for my age. It’s a little sad how some parents can’t trust their parenting skills. I think it’s a sign of guilt, insecurity and fear. But as long as I trust God first then myself I’m going to be good. I won’t let outside fear interfere with my success in life. Let your adult children fly please🦋 It’s hurtful to our well being and growth. Imagine a baby bird never leaving the 🪺. what a limited and unfulfilling life. Babies fall when learning to walk then eventually master walking. Thank you.

    • @Tonnnnia

      As a mom of an adult I will say for some of us it’s not that we don’t trust our parenting skills, it’s that everyday the world gets a little more crazier and scarier and we sometimes feel like we might have forgotten to teach you something. We also worry that God Forbid something happens we won’t be there to protect you. I am not that mom bust trust me when I tell you I work very hard every day to reign it in and not be her.

I think it’s just an excuse to ignore control issues. You do realize that you’re making your child incapable of surviving and that parents usually pass away before their children. Would you want your child to be unprepared in the world when you’re gone? That’s unfair.

    • @Tonnnnia
      @Tonnnnia Год назад

      @r. what are you talking about? How am I making my child incapable? Reading is fundamental, I said while I understand that mom I definitely work hard every day to not be that mom. Becoming a parent definitely changes your outlook when you have the well being of a little life in your hands.

      @@Tonnnnia oh sorry I didn’t read the last half correctly the first time. I just don’t understand parents like this lol. I guess because mine are that way. There’s no reasoning with them and it’s frustrating. They held me back a lot and I resent them because now I don’t have a lot of life skills and afraid to take risks. The world is ever-changing and we must all adapt. If parents keep doing this, they will set their children up for failure, especially around people who are light years ahead of them.

    I stopped talking to a 20 something year old girl once because her parents were too overprotective. She didn't drive so the first date she met me at the location. Okay, that's fine, her people drop her off, no big deal, but only about an hour or 2 later when the date was over they were there Johnny on the spot to pick her up! Felt a little strange but I gave that one the benefit of the doubt. Next date she allowed me to come pick her up, but from an obscure address where she climbed out of someone else's vehicle, assuming her parents or siblings dropping her there. After the date which was in 2 places and ended at the movies, they were there, once again Johnny on the spot to pick her up from the theater eyeballing me from the car. Now normally I would happily introduce myself to the girl I'm talking to family, but these people creeped me out, and her guarded demeanor threw me off as well. Maybe something has happened to her or someone else in her family in recent years, but I'm not that and I feel uncomfortable being pre-portrayed as that so boldly. Being a man I expect a certain level of distrust from the opposing family and woman of interest... but damn! I can't have the real address to pick her up from and complete the date alone with her? I had no intentions of doing anything foul. Felt like I was being watched the whole time.

She has been so overbearing and overprotective since I was in middle school...I had more freedom in elementary. But whenever my sister goes out WITHOUT even saying where she's going, she doesn't say anything. But when I just go to my bf's house(which is two houses down from ours) or just simply go outside to get some damn peace, it's an issue. I just wanna scream and cry because it's frustrating. My mom always says that she wants peace from us, but has she ever thought that we want the same thing?? Like I've never shown any sign of irresponsibility, but she acts as if she doesn't trust me. How can I prove it if she refuses to let me?? I tell her where I'm going, how long I may be, who I'm with, and such...so why?? Not only that, but I text her and let her know what's going on! She has taught me plenty of things and I'm not dumb, I know what to do when I feel I'm in danger, I know what to do! They just act as if they haven't taught us anything. I couldn’t imagine a mother that protective- although I moved out of home at 16 (and was raised by my father with siblings ) and I wouldn’t have a bar of an overbearing parent like this lady , you can love a child yes of course but to the point it hinders their personal growth ? you can let them grow by themselves and give advice along the way - you can’t learn from mistakes if your not given a chance to make them In The first place .

      While I understand what you are saying, and in what context, I think you missed the point of why that's an issue, with this particular mom and daughter relationship.
      That mom is not simply looking out for her daughter, rather she is so controlling, that she needed to get up, wake up the cousin, and go get her a block away.
      If it's anyone she needs to be protected from, it's her damn mom.
      She is more dangerous than any possible attack she may or may not face in her lifetime.

    I truly understand that mothers fears of the bad and ugly in this world, things can happen in a fraction of a second.. But, she must allow her daughter the space to strengthen her own wings. No matter how hard we as parents try to keep our children safe we can not and will not always be there with them every minute of the day. The good thing is that as a parent she has made her daughter very much aware of life dangers. Blessings to them both!

    I feel like I’ll be leaving home quite soon... I have the same issues with my mother, but I really feel like a hostage. I don’t know how to talk to people on the phone, I don’t know to socialize with others. She controls my money, and even if I don’t want her too, I don’t know how to deal with financial stuff, and when I ask her to teach me she just don’t really care or is really inpatient about it... I don’t know how to drive so I’m stuck at home or any place I want to go, I have to go with mommy(and that makes me feel ashamed of myself). And lately I started realizing that I’m hating her, and even though I try not to, being with her makes me feel weak and small. I feel like a little baby inside a 20yo body.
    But I’m really willing to take the risks of just walking away and trying to learn on my own than living like this for another year. Can’t stand this feeling any longer.

      It will be hard for you, but you need to get away from your mom. She doesn't know that she's doing more harm than good to you. Listen, she still wants you to be the little fabricio that you have been 10 years ago. But you're a grown man now and should worry about youre own life more than she. The problem is that the next ten years from 20 to 30 will be the most important years for your future. You need to realize that your mom can't plan your future now, even if she wants to. So what are you waiting for? Sure the first year will be maybe really hard for you. But you won't learn these things that are important now, by living at home with your overprotective mom...

      but know the order of things to give them, and you'll have them for life.
      a mistake many parents make is trying to make a teenager have an appreciation for things only a grown up with many experiences could truly comprehend, and that ruins it as it's fed by the spirit of a teenage rebel.
      knowing how to better prepare your children for their downs and ups in life is the way, and helping them in ways they will appreciate now and later works.
      but yet again this is coming from someone who isn't a parent. just my take on it and from my experience from my own parents
