For future ref: brass is a work-hardening metal. The more you bang on it, the harder it becomes. To anneal it you should evenly warm it to a dull red, not bright red, then quench it in water to quickly and evenly cool it. Unlike steel, quenching brass softens the metal; hammering it into shape will then gradually re-harden it. If you find its give lessening as you work it, you an just re-anneal it till it's where you want it! Loved the mashup and looking forward to the full-metal replica!
This was such a fun build! Now that we're all moved in, would you be interested in a shop tour video? EDIT: Here is the workshop tour! ruclips.net/video/mCZEnP7DpCs/видео.html
Wow what an amazing result. I’ve been impatiently awaiting this video, and I’ve gotta say I’m blown away on the quality of videos you guys are able to create in your new/old workspace!
I know many highlander fans don't acknowledge the existence of highlander 2, but as the first highlander movie I saw when I was a kid, it has a special place in my heart. Plus, Sean Connery was hilarious in that movie! It's so cool that you got to use the mold from the katana hilt for the lightsaber. Keep up the highlander videos!
That funny moment when you thinking of watching Higherlander, and this shows up to watch on youtube a few minutes later on a channel you've never seen before :D
This, was just incredible. I saw my first video of yours last night, and today this was a recommendation from RUclips. I'm also a big Star Wars and Highlander fan, I always joke that some of my best conversations have been about Highlander. I had the pleasure of meeting the author Earnest Cline at a book signing, and conversed about Highlander. Also, my first convention that I went to was to meet Adrian Paul from the Highlander tv shows, and of course a movie or two. Awesome merging of two fantastic universes! Good job!
That's so great! I had such a hard time finding people to talk to about Highlander back in the day. It's so cool you got to meet Earnest Cline and Adrian Paul!
I enjoyed this! It would be cool to see a 3D modelled version of the grip portion better optimised for a battery and speaker. Using the newer thread-in blade from saberforge mightve made life easier too, really enjoyable build though! I love my saberforge!
The RUclips algorithm once again brings me to yet another awesome creator. What an amazing video, love your enthusiasm and positive attitude. Now time to binge watch your other videos!
I was blown away when I seen you posted a new video. Then... I was double blown away when I seen it was about a lightsaber-ish build. Glad to see you're back. Happy for new content from you guys!!! Can't wait for more videos!!!!
Now that you are back up and running, time to make the ultimate Highlander prop, Kurgan's Sword. Not just any Kurgan Sword but one that screws together just like the one in the movie.
I CANNOT LIKE THIS MORE!!!!! I have a replica of a Highlander katana. The lynch pin bent and the blade, not being full tang, was wobbling in the hilt. I got it like that.... But this just gave me an awesome idea on how to make a duplicate of my hilt and make mine own Highlander Lightsaber. I cannot wait to try that, Thank you thank you thank you for this awesome idea. WHY DID I NEVER THINK OF THIS?!?!? ugh. But hey, thank you for.... illuminating.... me to the possibility!!!
this is incredible. I have never personally seen Highlander or the series, but I have wanted to do a lightsaber build for a long time and this is just awesome!! great work!
I made some lightsabers myself and I must say that the worst part is having a design narrow enough to be pretty but bulky enough for the electronics. You really did something impressive.
I'm watching you trying to squish that brass and I can hear Alec Steele crying out in my head. When he is finally able to come back stateside, you need to make a trip out his direction for a joint project.
Awesome video. I just loved every minute of it. Big Star Wars fan and sword collector. And yes, I have an “authorized” Highlander replica sword amongst the collection. Fun to see other people geek out like me.
@@punishedprops It's an entertaining movie and TBH I used to troll a friend of mine at work with it. He was adamant that the 2nd movie doesn't exist lol
This is so weird... I was just thinking the other day about a mash-up lightsaber. I've been rewatching Gene Rodenberry's Andromeda on Prime and was thinking how cool a High Guard Force Lance would look as a Lightsaber hilt. I've neither the skill nor the equipment to make such a thing a reality but maybe you could consider the idea for a future build, after all you can never have too many lightsabers :D also... holes for the sound could be made in the Dragon's mouth to hide them :D
I love this mash-up! Man, it'd be such a different visual if the immortals had lightsaber battles. I Also love that you _also_ can't hear the words "spin it" without thinking of the "Tailspin" theme.
It is so nice to see a video from you two, again. It really is like a ray of creative sunshine. Thanks for all the amazing props you made and I am looking forward to all the props that will come.
@@punishedprops also, it is great to find other Highlander fans. With so few forums to discuss the films or series, it feels like it’s been forgotten a bit
Ok, this is a great fusion of genres. Highlander has been my favorite movie since it came out. But... I do not know of these Sequels that you speak of.... I never was five minutes late to the first sequel and sat confused for the next hour and forty minutes... I never went the next weekend to catch the five minutes I missed hoping it would explain what happened only to find out that five minutes was trailers... and I never walked out of a second viewing... I agree Highlander is a great movie and great premise. The Highlander Lightsaber is great!
That was a TON of work but WOW ! That turned out Fantastic ! You would think the Jedi would actually have something more like this. Since they are such and old religion. Congratulations on another GREAT build. Keep up the good work
That was a fun watch. I also love Highlander and lightsabers. There is another maker called Darth Alice that has years of Katana Lightsabers that are absolutely beautiful. But, Ive never seen anyone do one inspired by the Highlander katanas. Truly wonderful.
That looks awesome!!! When you were aging the handle and the brass parts, Bob Ross popped into my head. You are the Bob Ross of prop building, man! So good!
What I think could be a neat solution to a lot of the problems in this build might be bisecting the handle and using it as handle scales to a thin hollow metal divider so you could access the insides by just popping off one of the halves. It would add more internal room and some handle rigidity, and remove the need for the rods. But that'd add a lot more machining to the project and your mileage may vary on whether that'd look good. Anyway, this was awesome!
How freaking cool! If battery life is an issue, and you have the space, you could parallel a pair of the small batteries or if you hunt, you can find longer thinner battery packages.
Im being one hundred percent for real when I say I've never ever seen a full video of a RUclipsr from beginning to end and I've had RUclips for YEARS!!! But for some damn reason I couldn't click away I didn't want to and I usually always do but fuckkkkkkk you did an amazing job on this beautiful piece your the DaVinci's of lightsaber.
I had this idea about nine years ago I sent a message to hamptons had crafted sabers about doing this exact saber I’m so stoked to see you make it happen wow and it looks as good as I thought it would except the blad is supposed to be red lol good job great build
Great to we videos from you guys again I always look forward to them. I can't wait to see Brit's video. Also if you wanted to add some hidden holes some holes drilled in the mouth of the dragon would be pretty visible I would think. Please tell me you made a mold, for your future projects. Lol I won't tell if you don't 😂 a shop your would be pretty cool as well. Cheers, guys. ^~^

Yes definitely
Absolutely! Would love a shop tour!

Would love to see the new space.
After watching the first episode of Star Wars: Visions, this build is so much more relevant and amazing!
hell yeah!
Foamsmithing leads to great results, but it's always so much more satisfying to see metal props

I stay for the bloopers. It's like an MCU end credit scene. 😁
Seeing bill's face and seeing the pure joy throughout this video has been a highlight of my day

"the bung holer" and "the spinnetrator" I love the names of your tools
