Hey Alec, I’ve always been a big fan and I am amazed by the quality of your work. Although these long projects are really awesome, especially the Viking sword and the Calvary Sabre, the aspect of blacksmithing that really interests me is the mass production of weapons, like things we’re in medieval times. Maybe 'Tod's Workshop' disliked the video since he posted a video of his swordbreaker creation around the 20th of june? Stupid really because everyone is making swordbreakers nowadays
I've been hearing a lot of sneezing lately. They could be harmless allergy sneezes, but when you start doing simultaneous sneezing, the FF-EMT in me starts ringing bells and waving flags... (hope they read comments on "old" videos, sorry, I'm binge catching up from a 2 month hiatus) Sneezing can also be caused by the tingling sensation that is caused by certain gasses. CO2 is one of those gasses that is also produced in your workshop. I know you're a man of safety, and you guys usually work with open gates, but it might be a good idea to add some gas sensors on a few strategic points in the shop. Monitor the levels of 02, CO2 and CO, but maybe some other ones like NOX too. If by chance you both are experiencing headaches too, on days that you have team sneezing sessions, then most definitely look into this... Your forge is producing a whole lot of CO2, CO and probably nox too. Since you want to keep the heat in place, you're not using any close ventilation, but putting a mild overpressure on your shop and venting from the roof will keep the bad gasses away from where you physically are in the shop. Even with an open gate, you can easily create that overpressure with the right floor fan at the right distance from your gate outside (ask your local firemen how to choose and position said fan, the cone of moving air basically has to cover the entire open surface of your gate)
@@Rascoeditz1083 thanks for reading all the way through :) No effort is too great to keep my favorite youtubers alive and well and popping out great content. And as many firefighters will agree, it's a mechanism once engaged, there's no "off" switch...

Alec, if you ever go to Paris, make sure you go to the military museum Les Invalides. Napoleon's tomb is there and more importantly: they have a veritable medieval arsenal of weapons and armour. You'd love it! Also: you should make a helmet or some piece of armour!

Hi Alec I have an interesting idea. LinusTechTips has tried to make a heatsink for a cpu several times and I think it would be cool if you collaborated and made a damascus or mokume gane(probably much better heat conduction) heatsink.
Cancer Tomato you know, I’ve wondered about a Steele/LTT collaboration before, but I only ever thought about the potential for making a custom damascus case, possibly for the six editors in one pc build (the Case Labs case it’s in right now just looks a little beaten and abused); the heat sink idea sounds fun though!
@@davidricebowled Yeah I feel like Alec could make an absolutely beautiful heatsink and I think if he used mokume gane it would be really effective too.
I like it! It'd be interesting too since it'd most likely have to be a copper damascus as steel doesn't have a high thermal conductivity. I'm just imagining a full, damascus forged PC case with a custom LinusTechTips build inside. Would be rad!
They’ll be busy with LTX right now, but if someone State-side wants to superchat on this week’s WAN show? Or tweet Alex (at LTT), I suspect he’d be up for it, given his love of the workshop and custom manufacture?
So, I'm watching the Sword Breaker Series (I call your different playlist "series," 1M Katana Series, Scottish Claymore Series, etm.) for a bit of nostalgia, and I found myself thinking, "Man, Alec looks so young! When was this made?" Mid-2019. My goodness, it's been a long pandemic, hasn't it?
@@RecoilOperated You just said almost exactly what I was going to. Maybe not wrought iron, though. Great contrast, but there are alloyed steels that would perform better and still stand out as much. Also, I was thinking thin pure nickel plate. It seems to weld surprisingly nicely, and really gives that shockingly bright streak. The nickel plate shouldn't be prominent enough to screw up the edge hardness too much, especially if it's done with a fairly complex damascus or if the three metals were used as a sheath for a sanmai with monosteel forming the core
I have one blade like this (3co_knives on Instagram) Its made out of 75ni8, O2 and L2/80CrV2 The steel ist silvish, black and grey Basically you take one nickel steel, one medium/hight carbon steel and one with even more carbon because in a simple explanation if you have more carbon your blade will be darker.

Hey Alec and Will, I think it would be a cool idea to make something out of leftover bits the damascus steel that you are cutting of. For example making a random pattern knife or a pan that can be hung up over a fireplace.
Love the show, do your thing.
FINALLY A NEW EPISODE! Was starting to get withdrawals
The addition to drum and bass to this video was very appreciated!
Crazy... a video popped up in my feed, a recommendation from a channel I didn’t know existed, about a “Sword Breaker” and then Alec uploads this video
blvckraikage same thing happened to me
blvckraikage same here
Yes pick me too
You always upload the day before I have an exam... Watching your vids is often one of the last things I do before going to bed knowing I will have to give an exam the next morning, and even though it made me consider quitting college to become a blacksmith more than once it's always a pleasure to do it lol
Next big project: Damascus steel-sub hilt-integral bolster-cocobola handle-leather lanyard-gem stone inserted bushcraft knife with quick release straps-altoid, tinder, Wet Stone & Fire Starter pockets leathre scout sheath.
Maybe thow in some twisted gold wire flukes and custom lanyard beads to.
Alec Vs. Will kind of challenge. so each one of you guys can have their own knife.
AND! With friendship bracelets
Your enthusiasm in everything you do is brilliant.
And the Oscar goes to Will Stelter For the “Dead Swordsman!” LOL!
rewatching so i won’t skip ads.
found this channel just last month (im now up-to-date with ur vids btw)
cos of my 14 yr old cousin.
now i can’t stop watching/rewatching
glad to see the kid from meet the robinson’s has made a cool living for himself!
The Wallace Collection has the best mediaeval armour and weapons collection I've ever seen. I'm glad you know it, and are making use of what you've seen.
They're also called sword-catchers, which is much more in tune with what you are trying to make, I think
Man, the editing on these is astounding. Timing the beat with the power hammer... genius!
Sometime would you talk about why you use the hammer so much more than the press?
Whack whack vs squish squish... :)
I love that you added more of the design process into this video! Super cool to see how you are thinking about things
Alec, can you make pizza in that KM24 Pro oven?
A pizza steel.
A damascus pepperoni pizza looking circular saw blade
Always a pleasure to see 2 craftsmen creating something extraordinary
Ahhh, Borax... You can Forge Weld, Kill any mold on your shop apron, and clean your clothes simultaneously... Not to mention you can clean the floor AND kill every ant in the place from the splashing molten borax! Great stuff! Better than Blue Dykem! 😏😉✌🏼
nobody doesn't like molten borax
@@nic.d7539 Alec should start work on the lyrics of the borax rap :-)
Boys are getting better and better every episode
That’s crazy I watched a video on a sword breaker and I’m like Alec should make that
Great for exposing and informing your viewers with some history lessons !!!!! I enjoying watching you and your sidekick!!!!!!
Awesome I’ve been looking forward to this build for a while now
I am fascinated with the whole process. Always Love the outcome. Never heard of a sword breaker. Very cool. Disappointed in the lack of coffee drinking when planning! ☕️👍👍
Great video today I just made my first forge and getting an anvil today
That's so cool! I finished my forge a couple days ago, but have been to busy to use it yet! Good show!
Peter Fish good luck hope it goes well 👍
@@linguineman4261 Thank you sir! Likewise!
I just saw one of these in a video and the first thing that popped in my head was “Alec needs to make one of these!!” That is soo awesome that it’s gonna happen now!
How did Will do in that knife competition?
I read he missed the entry by like 8 minutes and he wound up selling the knife
Oh wow that’s really unfortunate
@@elijahnapp yeah, it would've been great to see how it competed but he still wound up getting paid for the knife at least so...
@@isaac2990 It was a commission piece for a chef, that he was also entering, rather than making for the show, & then sold.
Alec, if you ever go to Paris, make sure you go to the military museum Les Invalides. Napoleon's tomb is there and more importantly: they have a veritable medieval arsenal of weapons and armour. You'd love it!
Also: you should make a helmet or some piece of armour!
Yall should work with ZNA Productions hes awesome at this kind of stuff and he kinda looks up to you (cause hes short) and he really does
HYP3 HAVOC he can’t work with eli cause they’d have to use the same dykem
@@ihatefurries3441 Eli uses both so
Ever since I saw Shadersity do an episode on Sword Breakers, I wanted you to make one! This will be so cool!
Love it. What about a gauntlet-sword in the future?
Like of you agree that it would be cool!
A "pata" u mean?
I’m excited to see the rest of this. A sword breaker is something I haven’t seen before. Also I think you should try to create your own Damascus pattern one video. Interested to see what you come up with. You’ve also inspired me to take a blacksmithing class. Thanks for the videos!

Bruh I love how everyone saw the same sword breaker vid yesterday as well and then next thing we know Alec is making one this is why this is the best community on RUclips
Would be interesting to see how it compares
Is there a way to make three "color" Damascus say in a pattern of ABCABC OR ABCBA to get even more interesting patterns
yes. you use nickle steel, high carbon, and wrought iron. it's not suitable for knives.
@@RecoilOperated is there a reason more people dont do that for decorative bits like pummels or guards etc.
I have one blade like this (3co_knives on Instagram)
Its made out of 75ni8, O2 and L2/80CrV2
The steel ist silvish, black and grey
Basically you take one nickel steel, one medium/hight carbon steel and one with even more carbon because in a simple explanation if you have more carbon your blade will be darker.
The double team sneeze is the reason I like this videos just so everyone knows.
Where is the next video Alex? I was just in Montana for a week. Show us the sword breaker!
sometimes, like in the shot at 9:00 I really get the feeling that we are watching 3 boys in a huge workshop having fun.
folie onirique we have a strict no fun policy at the shop unfortunately, otherwise it would be a ton of fun
alec I just googled you tube knife makers, so I can get more content, and your name was first in the top twenty youtube list. It still says your from England but it also says 4 to 5 videos a week now that your with Will it should be easier to make more not less.. I enjoy watching you greatly please make more than one or two a week.
Rachel Burrell thaaank yooouuuu!
RUclips just brought me back a year later. Knowing how this story goes, 'swordbreaker' is rather ironic. But seriously, I cried with ya Will.
9:00 actually impressive that both of you got a photic sneeze reflex :D
One can really see how you guys are improving from project to project just by how efficient yall are working. Amazing stuff man!
"There we go!!! We got the width" Thats what she said lol lol ;)
I dreamed about having a shop like this sadly i had to open my eyes and realized that I haven't. I can't help but my creativity got boosted. A amazing job you guys did again.
