The skill and knowledge shown to create this is incredible. I can't even imagine the skill to make this (which was clearly done in the past) without all the modern technology he used.
Wanting it for fencing?! Its pretty, but it is a fantasy piece This thing, though made with undeniable artistic ability is way too heavy to be effective. Someone with a south American jungle machete could take anyone with this boat anchor. Hell, a sharpened car antenna would be better, or a table leg.
The time alone on the hilt and the blade's patern was a wonder to watch it morphed into being kept me glued to the screen. Your whole mind & body was wrapped into this build. Fantastic.
@@Arts-and-Crafts you are very humble, i am sure there are, but I also wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the finest swords ever created to the present day
Magnificent! Truly a great artist and craftsman. Not enough words to say how great the sword is and also a great video. I just wish we could have had more time and much closer views of the intricate design on the hand guard. You should certainly be proud of what you did on that. Thanks for a wonderful show.
When I saw the thumbnail and the first seconds of the vide, I thought it was about some museum piece, and old sword. When I saw you crafting it from 0, I was in awe.
That is a profoundly beautiful piece! It reminds me of Grayswandir, the legendary silver saber wielded by the character Prince Corwin in the fantasy series, 'Nine Princes in Amber'. Fantastic work!
Man I really wish I had someone to teach me all about this in my area. I watch a lot of these videos and I have to say this one crushed it man. Keep it up.
Es una obra de arte, preciosa y como me gustaría tenerla. Gracias por mostrar todo su proceso y felicitar sinceramente a su creador. Desde Chile fuerte abrazo.
A beautiful sword, not just fit for a king but fit for a hero. If I had one tiny criticism it's that it needed a cage to extend down to the handle and protect the hand, which was kind of standard in swords of that nature.
Standard it was indeed. As it was little details like being hardened and tempered, or not having a screw-on pommel on a rat-tang handle, or being actually sharpened... You realize this is a sword-shaped obect intended only for looks and not for combat, right?
I love these kinds of videos. The skill and artistry is astounding. I would love it even more if there was a word here and there that describes what you are using and what you are doing. Thanks
@@Arts-and-Crafts The praise is well earned. I hope to be able to add at least one to my collection someday. If you need a name for this sword, may I suggest calling it "Iustitia" (iust/ti/tia) it's latin for Justice.
I love watching how they make knives and swords the new modern way. But just once, I love to see how they made a sword from the days when no drill, gringer, today's tools are used, more the old traditional way. Are there anyone around who can do it. I know that takes time maybe months, but that would be cool don't you think so??
Hell yes! Keith and Harvey trying to punch each other to death with sabers is absolutely amazing! The most realistic sword fights put to screen aside from "the Deluge". The ending alone with Harvey wandering defeated and alone with Keiths voice over instructing him to regard him as a dead man would is beyond perfect. Ridley Scott is one of the most talented directors of all time.
Nice sword. Extraordinary detail pattern work. If I may humbly make a suggestion, Please show your tools some love and put some oil on them and remove the rust so they may last long to be used by your talented hands. Peace
haha, thank you for that, but where I live the climate is hot and humid, lots of rain + high humidity, it's very difficult for tools to not rust even if I store them.

It is a work of art, and brilliantly made, but alas, the length of the blade is too short to be a real Rapier, of which is what this is purported to be. Excellent work all the same.!
Final sword looks awesome! The process got me thinking about sanding and tempering as you first tempered the metal then sanded the bevel. Wouldn't that destroy the tempering? Sanding off so much material surely made it pretty hot. Also wouldn't that add more work since tempered steel is harder to work with?
Thank you. Sanding does not affect tempering, because I cool it with water, the temperature is just over 50 degrees already water cooled, and doing so takes a bit of time, but with thin and straight checks it will work. no bending!
Amazing. I imagine if I were someone who lived in an era of swords, I'd shit my pants if someone drew this and pointed it at me--more so than any other sword. It's beautiful and intimidating all at once.
What a beautiful sword! Skill and craftsmanship 100000% The only little thing is that for this style of sword, the blade looks like it needs to be longer. Thats it though......not hating......not throwing shade!
I see he's wearing the safety slippers or sometimes the opened toed safety sandles, but I can’t seem to get them where I come from , but his work is exceptional .
Great work, tho I have to say that all the working with gloves when using rotation powertools like belt sanders or lathes brings back some gory memories (non of them happened to me thank god, I learned the lesson through the mistakes of others)
I guess you'd call this a side-sword? One of my favorite types of blades, right after sabres. One day, I'd like to make a side-sword/cinqudea combo. Short but wide with a strong taper. I think it's be a good for both thrusting and chopping. A pretty brutal close-quarters weapon, I think.
The skill and patience need to draw the pattern on the blade alone is astounding
Thank bro !!
The skill and knowledge shown to create this is incredible. I can't even imagine the skill to make this (which was clearly done in the past) without all the modern technology he used.
I'm torn between wanting to hang it on my wall as an art piece and respecting swords as weapons and wanting it for fencing
Looks far too heavy to effectively fence with, but it would be cool.
