I'll add to your theory for the timeline:
After Little Mac retired, many people were disappointed about it. Years later, other people were inspired by him and tried to take his name. That explains the Super Punch Out Series.
Or Punch-Out Wii is completely seperate from the originals. Didn't we go over this whole "alternate timelines" with Matpat

Bro, Punch-Out!! (Wii) is a remake. That Live-Action punch-out ad is just something nintendo did to promote the game. But there is no timeline. Punch-Out!! never had a timeline.
Because its not like mac being mental or being part of the make a wish foundation didn't make sense already. Now he's also a magical slow aging time wizard on top of that
The 15 years is just the number of years between the releases of Super Punch out and Punch out on Wii. It's not really supposed to make sense in the timeline.
My theory: Super Punch-Out protagonist IS Little Mac...well... "a" Little Mac, just like there was more than one "Rocky" and more than one "Sugar Ray". Either that, or he's a Saiyan, and somehow, in Super Punch-out, he went Super Saiyan, and the 15 years was in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. But wow, that means he has a verrrrry low power level.
But little Mac isn’t the protagonist of Super punch out. It’s you. That’s why you name yourself. Just saying. In the beta, you WERE supposed to play as Mac. Btw, I love playing the punch out games because I live in the Bronx.
Mac is a timeless character they just brought him back for a new generation of characters. I consider punch out wii more a reboot than direct sequel

When he does the star punch it's just a jump punch with almost no effort
But in punch out Wii he looks like he's putting all his energy into that punch that was taught to him my the real doc louis in the real world
But in the dream he taught mac a fake star punch that since it's a dream it looks like he puts all of his energy into it

Little mac sr. had a kid at 15 (two years before punch out nes) with a Japanese woman, which is the reason why little mac looks japaneese. At age 17 little mac sr looses. 15 years later little mac jr redeems his father in the events of punch out wii.

To be fair this is the same guy stating the Little Mac is also assumed immortal /ageless so yeah hyperbole levels are way off the scale here.
TL:DR: Nintendo just wanted a new punchout game to make the Wii sit "closer to home" with those of us whom had the NES and gamers of that era, there is no timeline , Little Mac is not immortal / ageless he doesn't have some life threatening illness, there is no deeper "untold story" it's just a game and to quote MST3K :"We should breathe and just relax."

You know, he could have been bullied since he was 5 or 6 and had to deal with bullies growing up. He might have had to outfight, outrun, and out-think to stay alive if he grew up in a bad place. He's obviously poor since he can't afford (or his parents' can't) to train in a decent gym and he must have had just enough spunk from surviving in a bad place to get Doc's attention. Way I see it, even by the age of 17, Little Mac must already have 10 years of experience with bigger people. Doc's training just made him become the badass he always was.
if we take this video seriously and ignore the fact that nintendo said that this was a reboot, then there's still the 15 year problem...

I feel like the reference of "15 years" in the commercial was more of a reference that it's been a long time between punch out games. I don't know exactly but I assume it would be 15. They did the same thing in the 3ds game Kid Icarus Uprising. They mention how it's been "30 years" since they last fought Medusa, because that's exactly how long the gap between the games were. Pit even opens the game saying "sorry to keep you waiting." He isn't talking to any character in the game, it's literally the first thing that is said when you start level one. He's talking to the player, apologizing for taking so long to release a game. Now I'm he game they make lots of references to 30 years, like Magnus saying Palutena has been gone for so long that the world has been in chaos. So while it might make sense in uprising (as it is completely believable that an angel wouldn't age) I think we can assume the 15 years isn't referencing any in game timeline, just a marketing nod.

Mac is NOT 32. Not only is the ad you relied on most likely fake, but it would make no sense if canon.
The timeline is that it goes NES, Wii, then Smash Bros, since it's after he retired.
If Little Mac was 17 and 5'7" in the Wii version, why is he still portrayed still as 5'7" in Smash Bros?
