This is an excellent video! Actually, it is an example of how a how-to video should be made.
    1) Every comment made was important
    2) No fluff
    3) Highlighted screen shots
    4) Clear articulate language
    5) No fluff
    Very well done!

I’m a 47 year old Tool Maker. I bought an Ender 3 V2 and found your page for Fusion 360 instruction. I wish you had been my instructor for Mastercam years ago!!!!

These videos are excellent work. The level of detail is great. No nonsense, no explaining, just how to do things. This is my new favourite tech channel. Great work, congratulations to you both.

You don't have to create a sketch from the imported STEP file. You can select the face on the imported part and Extrude it. That will create a new body, with the same profile as the selected face. Creating a sketch first is still a good idea though, especially if you need to reference part of the geometry in other sketches.
Another tip is to use the McMaster Carr library of parts. It's available from the insert menu in Fusion.
They have thousands of parts that include CAD drawings, that can be imported directly into the drawing in Fusion.
I used to use it for screws, brackets and aluminum profiles in the past.

Some of the item they inches to convert that a bit of different size than create the extrusion profile by metric to create. I did experience when I use the printed parts from Western diy cnc and purchase the metric extrusion from Aliexpress which over size on the printed parts. Did anyone come across this problem.

@@alberttang1748 I haven't experienced that myself. There can be quite a large variation on extruded profiles from manufacturer to manufacturer. The profiles you could possible have been made to a slightly different profile, or with different tolerances than what the step file assumed.

You poked straight into the core of F360. With a vengeance. Straight, clear, easy understandable. Had to pause a couple of times and take a breath. Now I can just add the bits and design whatever, am stoked. You leave the competition in the dust, just look how you grow. FAN-TAS-TIC . Thanks for sharing.👏

Thank you for these tutorials, I'm new to 3d printing and your videos are all very informative. I don't know how old you are but I'm so impressed at your knowledge and ability to convey it at such a young age, I'm in my 60's and I'm blown away with what the younger generation is capable of. Keep up the great work!

The place I go to for 3D models for extrusions is and Misumi, they are major suppliers of automation parts in Europe and have a configurator that you put all your dimensions in and then you can download the model as needed, and not have to do so much modeling.

so here i can see a way to convert my Dremel Drill Press into a Milling Machine with manual control but solid axis bearings and drive screw with hand crank. Wow you guys are so fast I have to back up and watch it 2 or 3 times, but that is ok It is here and I am slowly getting more educated. You are teaching a Grandpa!!!! Thank You Dennis

Thanks. Do you have a tutorial on how to create the assembly of the machine shown at time 0:16? I am struggling to find a clear tutorial that shows how to place component assemblies offset from the middle of the machine. It must be so simple to do.... Thank for the clear approach to use the 2020 extrusion.

At point 4:30 in the video, can anyone tell me how to center this new sketch exactly over the center point on the drawing plane. I've tried to move there, but I can't get it to move at all. Yes, I am a newbie Fusion360 user. I'm trying to use this sketch to make end caps for the frame of my printer. Also, why are the lines green, and not blue or black? Is this sketch fully constrained? Thanks.

What is the difference between a grooved & non-grooved aluminum extrusion?

    • @AuroraTech

You can open both images to compare. When you look at the inside corners, you will see a groove.
