  • My ex girlfriend's Nissan 240sx S13 project car has not been running right for some time. Her SR20det swap has some long over due basic maintenance that we needed to knock out. Upon completing the job, we find an interesting failure...

The shout out to Drift Games was the best, what they are going through is an absolute nightmare… I’ve been following them for almost 2 years now and have seen them progress. ALL of their builds were in the shop when it caught fire, literally lost everything, including their brand new merch that they just launched. It sucks, definitely heartbreaking. I really hope they can recover from this, I know they will - in time of course. A major blow to the car community

Bro I bought a car, got screwed over on it, it was clapped, this man put the motivation in me from his 240 rebuild to actually fix the car and replace all the rusted out panels with panels from other cars, I was bouta give up but this man single handily gave me the motivation to actually get the car done and keep it out of the scrapyard

For future reference, you can spray brake cleaner around the manifold and gasket surfaces and hoses/couplers to check for vacuum leaks. If you spray near a leak with the engine running it will change how it idles.

1/4 year update, I've completely rid myself of the projects that were stagnating in my barn. By a miracle I traded one for a corolla SR5, and that car's been nothing but a joy to consistently work on. I feel that I'm on a good pace to have the car ready to park up at gridlife midwest this year, but I wont be disappointed if it doesn't get to that point either. Your videos have taught me to lose my fear of working on vehicles and to just send it, every mistake is an opportunity to learn and there's nothing wrong with that. Thanks for the constant inspo mike :)

On old maf cars like franzies that hole in the charge pipe would 1000% cause the engine to suck in unmetered air, which would cause a lean condition any time but especially at closed throttle. Plus thats a MASSIVE boost leak! Congrats on the repair. love the nissan chime too

Anytime you're putting on a new paper gasket soak it it oil or give both sides some grease. It will help in the future if you ever have to take it off again. It prevents it from getting stuck on both mating surfaces. Old mechanic trick.

Watching this after i did some break work on my civic. Rusty cast iron break calipers so i had to use some elbow grease to remove rust clumps from hardware mounts so the pads move much smoother. I watched the break swap video of yours and it taught me new spec on how my breaks should be. Before i had to pry the pads with a flat head screw driver so it made me think that should cause a lot of squeak or decrease breaking power. Anyways! Your videos are always a joy to watch. I keep learning and never stop progressing. PS. Congratz on fixing Gf 240 :3

Don't block off the PCV Valve, The engine needs to breath, blocking off the PCV Valve the engine can't release the pressure built up in the crankcase, you will end up pushing out seals like the rear main or front main seal and end up with a huge oil leak.

caught your upload within an hour so wanted to take the opportunity to say that your mentality with working on cars; learning what you need as you go and making things work with what you can have, has helped me so much. had my car die out and refuse to start, it ended up blowing 0psi on cylinder 4 LMAO. its the JDM version of the 98 accord SiR-T so there is absolutely no resources on it or it's specific engine. i decided to jump in and i'm in the middle of my first engine swap, in my driveway, and the videos you put out has help my motivation to have faith in myself so much. i really really appreciate the work you do and am even going to try put out a video of it to fill the gap in resources available for the car. thanks so much bro, u got love from new zealand 💪

13:44 my r31 did similar things, if you pull the cluster the circuit board that all the gauges plug into possibly has cracked solder joints on the pins, or there is a cracked trace somewhere on that pcb. the other failure mode for this is the motor for the needle has an intermittent connection to the circuit board on the speedometer, the one that plugs into the main circuit board for the cluster, which is also something i had to fix on my car (they forgot to solder the positive lead to the pcb in the factory so it was just floating there intermittently for 30 years)
