Video 19 - Dawn Effect : How to fix your early morning blood sugar

  • An abnormal increase in early morning blood sugar is quite common amongst diabetics. Hormones, as usual have a key role to play, and through this video I try to list out the possible reasons for such a surge and the possible measures to fix it. While we tend to associate this phenomenon, also called the 'Dawn Effect' with diabetics, but the fact is that it's a natural process of the body and many non diabetics too may be having this phenomenon in their body. While there's nothing alarming about it, one can sort it out because it tends to be demoralising and demotivating, especially if you are tracking your readings regularly to reverse your insulin resistance or diabetes.

    On glucometers, I’m getting around 7 or even more for fasting and then no more than 6.5 (after meal) and around 5.2 before meal and any random time of day.
    Could you please suggest something.

    But sir, if we inhibit Glucagon production, it might take us 1. Hypoglycemia and secondly, if liver is not releasing suger, how we will deal with removal of excess Glycogen stored in Liver? So, how we will get rid of Insulin resistance in liver?
    Rather, should we not focus on enhancing Insulin action contrary of Glucagon action?

    • @gautamguha71newdelhi
      @gautamguha71newdelhi  3 года назад +2

      Glucagon and Insulin both act in tandem. You can't fear hypoglycemia when you are hyper glycemic ! Excess glycogen gets converted to fats for storage. Rest glycogen will always be used and made - it's a cycle. That's what will get used up when u don't eat or when you workout more ....

      This might be good because, lever is releasing blood suger to avoid hypo glycemia. So you got 2 benifits -
      1. Lever is getting rid of excess suger stored in lever in the fat, which will help you to reverse insulin resistance in lever by removing exess fat stored.
      2. You will be saved by getting Hypoglycemia.
      This phenomenon can happen in even non diabetic populations as well.
      Dont be afraid of this phenomenon.

      Liver glycogen, glucagon, cortisol, new glucose from muscles and fats - many reasons. But your avg glucose should come down with fasting and low carb. So track your PP and random too. After a few weeks track your HbA1C and fasting insulin too. Also depends on what how u r working out and sleeping and recovering.
      And DO NOT be worried of hypoglycemia unless you are on insulin SR or Type1. You want your sugar levels to fall - right ! You do not worry for low BP when you are trying to reverse high BP.

      6 to 8 mmoL/L ? As I understand...

      Forgot issues like Vit D levels and even LADA (type 1.5 diabetes) where your beta cells of pancreas are effected. But the bottom-line is - avg glucose has to come down. And after a sustained effort even the fasting glucose will come down.

    my creatinine level is high ( 1.7 ). no force while passing urine . Can i take morer protein ? pls confirm .

    • @gautamguha71newdelhi
      @gautamguha71newdelhi  3 года назад +2

      Yes one tends to get over cautious with protein intake. There r three amino acids involved with Creatine and it's critical for recovery after a workout. Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate from muscle and protein metabolism...Studies show that weight and strength training help to lower blood creatinine. So yes moderate intake of red meats and certain dairy but issues like intake of vegetable, reducing or stopping alcohol / nicotine, focussing on kidney health betterment will pay dividends. U need to drink half liter to 1 liter water, one hour after breakfast and same after lunch and test again after 10 days if your creatine level is coming down because our kidney needs water for filteration.

    Sir I can’t take glassful ACV . It’s very acidic. I dilute it in 50 ml water and take it. Afterwards I drink a glass of water thinking that it would be diluted in stomach. Is it ok ? Will that concentrated solution damage the gut ? Please reply

    • @gautamguha71newdelhi
      @gautamguha71newdelhi  3 года назад

      You take one table spoon of ACV in a glass of water. So dilute 15-20 ml of ACV in 200 or 250 ml of water.

    My number in a morning has risen to 12. Should I take 2 tbs of cider vinegar at bed time? Should I also take before day time meals?

    • @gautamguha71newdelhi
      @gautamguha71newdelhi  Год назад

      Yes you may - but more importantly I hope you aren't taking the wrong ACV. Just check the carb content. Also relook at your circadian rhythm. Address issues like light cardio after the last meal of the day, a shower before hitting the bed, adding mediation or some good breathing routines ! Wim hof techniques are good n effective. Also address your sleep. Don't overdo exercise and workout. Focus on rest and recover. Hopefully your morning glucose levels should come down in a few weeks time.

      @@gautamguha71newdelhi do you mean do some light cardio after the last meal and take a shower before bed? Does the ACV need to have the mother in it? I have been doing HIIT 10 mins a day is that okay?
