How To Remove Road Paint Splatter! - Chemical Guys

- How frustrating is it when you are driving along, enjoying your detailed ride and then come across wet road paint or paint splatter that blasts across the side of your paintwork. This will then dry to the clear coat which can stain the surface. Avoid using caustic cleaners or picking and scratching the surface by using the natural cleaning oils of Butter Wet Wax. Not only are you safely remove surface contamination such as paint transfer but also enhancing gloss while laying down protection. Butter Wet Wax makes your paint shine with the vibrant magic of natural carnauba, a wax taken from the leaves of Brazilian plants. These all-natural ingredients not only fight off the harsh effects of the environment, they have also been refined to lightly cleanse your paint from light scuffs, bird droppings, road tar, tree sap, and even overspray!

Love what you guys do. 👌🏻
Thanks for the amazing feedback!
Excellent! Thanks so much will
Try this in the am!
Happy detailing!
Wow good to see! In pouting down rain and wet roads I couldn’t miss a five gallon paint bucket on the road other than hitting the bucket itself. Made my car a mess on the passenger side! Excited to use this and get it off! Black car..white paint ugh!
Thanks so much for watching!
Any updates?
Plz let us know if it worked (if you ended up trying it). Thanks!
Hey Kris! How did it go? Did you start by completely washing down the car first?
@@estk88 hi..yes..washed the car then opened the product..clumsy me dropped it and broke the lid..ugh! It removed most of it thankfully the largest parts. There are still some small areas. Winter now here in Ohio so I’m hoping those areas will still be able to be removed when it’s warm weather again.
great video. Chemical Guys rock
Hey Tom! Glad you enjoyed the video!!
- CG Nick
Great video. I’m getting one now lol. Quick question, You mentioned it can be used on chrome or glossy rims, is it ok to use it on matte finish rims? Thx
Waaaatt?! 😲 its that easy? Oh im definitely need to buy this.
Hey! Yes, you will love it!
Thats my go to wax! Stuff is AMAZING!
Great choice, happy detailing!

Hey there! I really appreciate the incredible feedback!!

Got the yellow road paint twice - took my car to two reputable detailers, who tried various things including paint remover. Nothing worked. I will try the clay bar and Butter Wet Wax. Thank you for the information.
Thanks so much for tuning in!
Thanks for tip🙏
Thanks for watching!!
Thank you 😊
Happy detailing!!

Does this work for plastic under carriage and tires?
thank you
Glad you enjoyed the video!
butter wet wax is awesome
Agreed, works great for so many tasks!
- CG Nick
Great tip, thank you 👍🙂. Would you apply the same products for bird poo?
Hey there! Glad you enjoyed the video. Absolutely, you can use Butter Wet Wax to soften and remove stubborn bird droppings.
- CG Nick
@@ChemicalGuys That's great, thanks 👍
Going to give this a try. My daughter's black Honda Civic picked up some white paint somewhere/somehow. And, your right! It is very annoying. Argh!
You're going to love Butter Wet Wax!!
Did it work
Did you say you can use nonsense to get it off the trim?
Wouldn’t this also work with a buffer and some regular wax?
I'm glad I bought the butter wax. Is there any way to remove dead bugs and road tar on the front bumper of my 2015 corolla?
Degreaser and pressure wash to get most of it off...clay after wash to remove any staining
Hey! We recommend Bug & Tar Remover, it quickly breaks down bugs and tar to save exterior surfaces from permanent damage caused by corrosive insects and swirling and scratching caused by intense scrubbing during washing.

Awesome!
Thanks!
Awesome, happened to me today it’s sucks ty for the education
Hey Robert! Thanks so much for watching, hope the video helps!

just happened to me. I have to try this now
Any results you can report? It would be nice to hear from people who actually tried this based on the video to find out how it went for them. Thanks a lot.
"This is A Great Video Nick " I Have A Question Will This Work On Small and Big pieces of Road Tar Stuck Around The Fender Would I Have To Use A lot To Soften it and Remove it?...

Can you guys do another full boat detail? With a gelcoat. Previous boat videos are a little dated.
Thanks for the amazing video idea, I will pass this onto the correct department.
Hey quick question you said this was easy to get off paint. What if you have yellow road paint? It seemed like you said use claybar, but do you start with claybar? what is the method? I know youd still clean everything first but the yellow road paint is much more tough and textured. Help much appreciated
Hi Angel! After washing the vehicle, use Medium Clay Bar with Luber to extract stubborn contaminants.
Nice video
Hey! Glad you enjoyed the video!

Will the Butter wet wax remove a touch up paint I bought from the Toyota dealership and applied to very small ping nicks on the hood of my car. The touch paint came in a glass vile with dip type brush like a finger nail brush on product. The Color Did Not Match the color of the vehicle. What can I do……or should a professional remove the touch up paint. ? The touch up paint is a clear coat product, not water soluble.
Thank You
Car is Black
Splatters are exactly like that, splashed from a 🚛
Thanks so much for tuning in!!
Thanks for the advice !
Glad you enjoyed the video!!
Thank you, i am using wax polish , than i see good result.
Happy detailing!!
Have some on my car been trying clay and damaged a lil bit of the uppermost clear coat layer
Hey Jared! A light polish such as V36 with an Orange Hex-Logic Pad will restore a mirror gloss.

Saw this video, bought some Butter Wet Wax, applied as in video...zero results for removing paint. Maybe its the type of paint that was spattered on my vehicle. Extra elbow grease applied, extra time leaving the wax on it...did not help
Hi I JUST saw you video and before watching it, I have scratched the glossy coat on my Toyota Sienna. Once I used the Butter Wet Wax, how can I rectify the dullness on my car? Thanks in advance!
Hi Shantel! Check our V36 Cutting Polish to remove and refine swirls and scratches.

I just recently saw this very vid and ordered the butter wax with much hope. Tried it on my black Lexus trying to remove yellow road paint splatter that’s been on there for over a year and unfortunately it didn’t work. Reading through the comments you had mentioned medium clay bar first? Would that maybe work?
Hi there! The composition of road paint can make it difficult to remove after it has cured. Butter Wet Wax is the least aggressive approach however a clay bar or even polishing may be necessary to restore shine.
@@ChemicalGuys thanks! I see you have a store near me so I will visit for more product.
This exact same thing happened to my vehicle. Uggghhh...
Thanks so much for watching, hopefully this video helps!

Do I wash the car after I used the yellow bottle? When I am finished with a section can I just water off the car no washing
Hi Adrienne! Absolutely, use clean water or your favorite quick detail spray to wipe away excess.
would it be ok to use this butter wet wax on a matte finish? my motorcycle got stolen and they painted it black ( white originally) and bike was recovered. im trying to clean it off myself instead of send it to be coated/painted. $$$. thank you!
Hi there! Using Butter Wet Wax will remove spray paint as well as over spray but machine polishing with a compound may be more effective in restoring the OEM finish.
Can you use this on headlight covers? I’ve got some paint speckles on my headlights and very front of hood.
Absolutely! Use Butter Wet Wax on any surface that is gloss painted, shiny or clear.
@@ChemicalGuys You might have saved me a trip to a detail shop. ☺️
quick question, can this remove small sprinkle white paint that’s around my whole car?
Absolutely!!
Will this take off paint off the plastic under the door?
Hi there! Try using Nonsense All Purpose Cleaner to restore plastic components.
Does it help with big parts of paint I have on my car from a pole at the gas station 😢
Hey! Yes, Butter Wet Wax also works well for removing paint transfer.
What is the first spray he used before using the butter wat ??
Speed wipe, a quick detail spray
Hey! He used Speed Wipe.

What about exposed plastic? I have splatter on my bumper and side mirrors. It’s not painted or clear coated
Hey! Remove paint splatter from plastic and rubber trim requires scrubbing with a degreaser or all purpose cleaner such as All Clean.
www.chemicalguys.com/allclean-degreaser/CLD_101_16.html
@@ChemicalGuys it’s the bumper on an Outback Wilderness. Thank you for replying to my comment on an old video! I’ll grab some ❤️
How about for paint that is a month old?
Hi there! The natural cleaning oils of Butter Wet Wax can still be used to remove overspray and paint transfer or machine polishing with a compound is necessary for stains and etching.
So, can you use any wax?
We recommend going with a carnauba based wax like Butter Wet Wax in order to achieve these results. 😀👍
@@ChemicalGuys oh ok.
How long you leave wax on paint?
Hey! Wax can be left on the surface for about 15 to 30 minutes, any longer would be excessive.
Where do I buy the products?
Hey! Check out our website or your local Detail Garage.

Hii would this work on satin finish rims?
Hi there! Using Butter Wet Wax on satin/matte finishes has the potential to stain or change the sheen.
@@ChemicalGuysso what would i use for satin finished rims?
Is it safe on clear coat ?
Absolutely!
@@ChemicalGuys I hope it will work on overspray paint from body shop , I just ordered one and will try
How about a thicker splash ?
Hey! The same process can be applied for any size splatter.
Can i order this product??

This is a baby road paint splatter… And it is not THAT easy. But thanks for sharing.
Thanks for tuning in!
today i have same problem.
Thanks so much for tuning in!
It didn't work, I had paint on from carpark pole and couldn't remove that with Butter Wet Wax
Hey! Your next option would be to polish with V36 Cutting Polish.
@@ChemicalGuys Thanks, hopefully cutting & polish would remove that yellow paint however I have used Butter Wet Wax on different paint contemination and it works good also gives the car nice shiny look.
Just ordered a bottle of this stuff coz I’m now one of those guys hit by a rolling gallon of paint on the road 😡🤬
Thanks so much for watching!!
horrible painter walked by black jeep with white paint splatter ... excited to try something that won't destroy the car paint
Happy detailing!!
