Saved me over $100 I was completely skeptical as my detailer told me it's really hard to remove line paint from the plastic parts. So I left the cocoa butter infused petroleum jelly overnight on the rocker panels and wheel wells. It happened exactly as you said! Thank you! I got line paint on the door panels too, but as I don't have the equipment/products to protect the area, I didn't touch it.
I can’t wait to try this!! You are a life saver thank you for sharing your experiences tips and tricks. Ive tried everything and no luck with getting this stuff off. Thank you so much.
I had yellow line paint on a 2018 4Runner that was so thick you could measure it with a ruler. I smeared on Vaseline with cocoa butter and let it sit overnight. It didn’t wash off but with plastic razor blades it all came off very easily. The super thick areas I did twice but it worked and worked well. Thank you for this tip. Saved me a bunch of money I am sure.
Got a full hand wash the other day and still noticed some specks on the whole passenger side of my car. I realized it was road paint and the car wash guys told me that they cant take it off cause they were scared of scratching the car, so I waited a few days and did some research on how to get it removed. I came across this video and tried the vaseline tip overnight. I got up the next morning and it didn't come off as easy as it did on this video. But it did loosen up the paint just a tiny bit. Citrol 226 still didnt arrive from amazon so i bought Goo Gone Automotive from autozone and tested it out on a small spot and initially it didnt do anything. I then sprayed some Meguiars ultimate waterless wash & wax all over the road paint on the edge of my bumper and i blotted some goo gone onto my microfiber cloth and i wiped the cloth gently onto the affected areas. It takes a little bit of force but the road paint started to come OFF!!!! It's gonna require a lot of patience but it worked for me. I also bought a claybar kit and ended up not using it. Hope this helps!
TRYING THIS !!! I just got super hardened white line paint all over my black Tundra.. SO PISSED! No signs . I love that deep gloss sealant too. I have been ceramic coating though lately.
Thank you for the petroleum jelly soak tip, Brian. I have a regular customer that works in a steel plant and I am getting less and less overspray off his black truck each time. I use clay and Citrol, but that doesn't work on the plastic trim at all. I just wish that I had watched your video the day it came out instead of spending 20 hours on that truck :-)
Hi Brian, thanks for this video. 2 questions. 1 was the clay bar necessary to remove the leftover tar? 2. Was the compounding and polishing necessary, or after tar removal and washing, wax or sealant could had been applied?
D Sylver 1. Personal preference.. it collects the loose paint chips and other bonded contamination before a sealant is applied. 2 . I choose to remove all imperfections before coating or sealant without removing a whole lot of clear. Its a fine line to balance
Brian….I have a black car that has white road paint all over it. I tried the Vasoline overnight then control….no dice. I have tried everything in my arsenal: goof off, tec307, 3m adhesive remover, 3m bug remover, etc. Stoner’s tar and sap helped in the wheel wells but not much on the door panels. Any other ideas?
A friend's dad purchased a Challenger used. It has white line/road paint on the driver side. The petroleum jelly w/ cocoa butter was applied, left over night for 12 hours. The paint was not soft. After a rinse, even Chemical Guys' aggressive clay did not work to remove it. The rinse off of the petroleum jelly was kind of messy ( townhouse / general drive area ). Any other suggestions ? Is the citrol necessary ? Optimum power clean 3:1 was used as the clay lube
PLEASE HELP.... So I just had an Escalade come in, it had the yellow lane paint on it, I tried every which way possible but to no avail. Tried lacquer thinner, acetone, citrol 266, clay bar, good old thumbnails, nail polish remover (same as acetone I believe) and I wasn’t able to take even one little spatter off of the vehicle. The only thing I can think of is to wet sand 1500 and then 3000 and then at least a two stage correction to get rid of the sanding marks (my last resort, but don’t want to do that as it’s very time consuming). The only other thing I can think of is paint thinner and goof off? ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! As this customer is interested in getting a ceramic coating in a couple weeks and I want to try and remove that lane paint off. Thank you so much 😊
Awesome vid did you use the clay bar on the plastic trim as well? I have some road paint on my running boards and wheel wells that I am having a tough time getting off. Tried goo gone and it didn’t work
Not true! I applied this to the tire around areas (plastic ) and it just sit there like firm wax! No paint removed ! Only grease all over the place Do NOT RECOMMEND THIS 😢
Saved me over $100

Did you use petroleum jelly and cocoa butter separately and mix them together or will cocoa butter vaseline petroleum jelly work as well?
What’s the mixture ratio ????

Professional strength Goof off seems much easier and a lot less steps. I’ve tried it and it’s very easy to work with.
Brilliant! I have been looking for a way to get road paint off my car plastic tram since the first week about it. Thank you for the video
Do I need to buy cocoa butter and petroleum jelly separately or will cocoa butter vaseline work?
Nice trick. Looks good B!
Sure makes it a heck of a lot easier!!
Nice work as per the norm Brian, i would have never thought of coco butter....who knew..lol
Any petroleum gel will do.... but if plastic trim is involved.. the cocoa butter infused brand conditions as it sits👍🏻
Great tip Brian, thank you for sharing that and all the other great info thru the year!
Merry Christmas and blessings to you and your family.
Merry Christmas!!! And a happy, healthy, prosperous new year!!🎁🌲🎅🏻
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I like to think that if we all had a chance to meet, not only would the cars sparkle, but we'd share much in common.
Indeed! The cars would def have some reflection!!🚗✨

What works on plastic trim?

Nice video. Now I've got to go back to Walmart to get the cocoa butter, Ha!
Any petroleum gel will do 👍🏻
Will this damage ceramic coating?

You said you used a clay bar on it what is a clay bar and where do you purchase something like that?
How would you remove road epoxy used to install road reflectors?
Does it have to be cocobutter infused
Awesome vid did you use the clay bar on the plastic trim as well? I have some road paint on my running boards and wheel wells that I am having a tough time getting off. Tried goo gone and it didn’t work
I just got yellow road paint ALL down one side of my black truck 🐝 🤬. With someone please recommend the ratio of mixture ???
What do you charge for that service?
Brilliant mate
👍🏻
@@apexdetail85 Will this work on vinyl siding and PVC windows without damaging the finishes? We were vandalized by an insane neighbor.
How much do you charge for a job like this?
Not even close, this didn't loosen the paint in the slightest
Dan .. did you use the citrol 266 after as the clay lube? that is the actual paint solvent
I hope this works
Never mind I see it’s a product not mixing two ✌️
Not true! I applied this to the tire around areas (plastic ) and it just sit there like firm wax! No paint removed ! Only grease all over the place
Do NOT RECOMMEND THIS 😢
Does this guy have an email
didn’t work, thanks tho
Uhm with that clay bar, you’re scrubbing those abrasive paint chips all over the paint and scratching the hell out of it. Not a good idea. Sorry.
You must have missed where he said he will have to polish the paint after🤦♂️
