    I used to detail cars, and did for years. Ive tried many tar removers. The best thing I can say to use is diesel fuel. I just put rubber gloves on and took a cheap sponge and put a layer of diesel fuel on the tar. It softens up fast, even the dried on tar like in this video. Then take the blue thick shop towels, I used about 3 or 4 at a time, dip it in the diesel fuel and it wipes right off. Then I washed the car with blue DAWN dish liquid and hot water. Tar and film will be all gone. Then I waxed or polished the car well. Paint looked amazing, and I never had a customer complaint. And the diesel will not damage paint or clear coat. And way cheaper than this stuff ^^^^^^^^^^

    • @johnnycake020
      @johnnycake020 5 лет назад +2

      Shane Joyce thanks Shane- it makes sense that diesel would work, as tar is a heavy product of crude oil. And diesel is a lighter product of crude oil. I will try it, and get back to you. As I have tar spots that look to have been on the car for years.

      @@jalderink I only use it after tar removal. Because you have to wax the car afterward. I never use it for regular washing. I only use car was soap for that. And the dawn does not hurt the paint on the car.

    Best tar, and least expensive remover I’ve ever used, gasoline. Use in the shade and wash off immediately when done. I use it once every 3 years on the bottom panels only, unless there’s an unexpected road splatter. About 1/4 cup does the whole job.

    If you like the Citrol on tar, I think you'll love the Stoner Tarminator even better. That stuff just annihilates tar on contact, its just not safe on exposed plastics, particularly clear plastic. Koch Chemie Eulex (Eu), is another great and cost effective tar buster, that's very fast - however it has the same issue as Tarminator, it will eat clear plastics.
    A great safe tar remover I found has been the Gyeon Q2M TAR, that stuff will take tar off no problem, maybe slightly slower, but its safe for all surfaces, so you don't have to worry about damaging customers cars.

Don't scrub since it contains abrasives unless you want to wax after. Drove through a construction area and some of the tar was more than a 1/4 in thick. The back label on Citrol reads like that disclaimer on Happy Fun Ball from that SNL skit. Cancer, genetic defects, organ toxicity, serious eye damage. I just read the material data safety sheet. I'm not using this stuff despite having two cans of it. I don't care how good it might work given the risks. I had so little tar on my car that I just ended up Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Detailing Clay Mild. But I did try Citrol on tree sap, and it did nothing. The tree sap was there too long and it's already ruined my paint. That's my fault.

      yes citrol 266 will help with many forms of overspray..i typically like using the full concentrate in the gallon jug and place some on a microfiber towel first than work gently over overspray...if you use the aerosol version, try spraying it into the microfiber towel first and work it over your overspray area..its good practice as well to make sure and rinse the product with water after using if you have large amounts of overspray on the car...hope that helps my friend:)
