Absolutely amazing. They've been performing nearly as long as I've been alive and they can still do that on demand...with real instruments, no autotune, no special effects, just a shitpot of talent backed up by expert instrumental performance. I fucking weep at what passes for music today..no one will hear of half the schmucks we have five years from now let alone 40! Thanx for the music guys, it's your gift to the world and we appreciate it!
it's was one of the best show I ever see, already make ten years, and I do remember like it's was yesterday, Thanks to Phil Collin to make a nice speach in french!
Turn it on again is one of my all time favorite songs but it does need to be in its original key. It gives it more life. All in all this is really beautiful music.
I have seen this error every time this show opener is discussed, the 1st part is not "Behind The Lines" but is instead a slightly modified "Duke's End" structured to fit better with "Turn In On Again" as a 2nd part. Now if you want to argue, I invite you to go listen to the 2 songs on your Duke album and then come back to this video starting @ 3:44 and recognize the chord progression as being from "Duke's End" just before it segues into "Turn It On Again" It was a Great show nonetheless!!!
Every time I see Phil drumming on this last tour the poor guy looks like he is agony and struggling with it all. he has always been my main influence drumming (even had the same teacher as him and roadied a bit for Genesis back a bit). This tour was a little heart breaing for me.
@tindrum however, i did manage to play a tune in tribute to them and him, with my acoustic duo, which i sing lead and play percussion and guitar..the after show crowd came by to the local bar where i was playing, and went ballistic..great moment and gig for me, personally !
If they would just make one more album and one more tour around the world so i can at least got o one of their shows I can say i saw the best band in the world and i can die happy
@tindrum i know what you mean..he's been an influence on me as well, and i remember trying to drum to Genesis tunes and his solo stuff.. what a huge loss to the rock and drumming world, that he is no longer able to play...his drumming and sound is so distinctive, you can pick off in the first bar of any thing he plays on..also, as a Montrealer, i am extremely disappointed that i couldn't make this gig..i was, in fact, working myself unfortunately....
I agree with you mortcola, I have been studying Phil's drumming for years. He has always said he is a drummer first, but it is evident with this tour his drumming has been put on the back burner for years now, a least this style of music.
Phil hadn't done a lot of drumming (especially the Genesis drumming) before the tour so he took ages to get back into it and then he had the health issues with losing his grip and feeling during this tour
Big Phil drums fan here. But by his own admission, he hadn't played any challenging drums for nearly a decade, and had to "re-learn". It's pretty clear that he greatly simplified many parts (Firth of Fifth, for one), played others more carefully, and occasionally hit some really great grooves. But the music is still strong in every way it needs to be.
I bought that shortly after it came out, but I go to see this Montreal show live myself...that was special. So I'm wondering if it's available somewhere.
It's sad how they have to take songs down an octave because Phil can't sing them like he used to. I recently picked up a copy of Three Sides Live and this version of "Turn It On Again" can't hold a candle to the one on that album.
the key's fine (Turn It On Again was supposed to be played in a lower key for this tour to accommodate Phil's voice) the synchronization is the only problem
Phil seems like he is having a hard time playing this song. If you watch older shows of this song he rips those toms. I guess age, it happens to all of us..
At this point of the Tour, Phil began to lose feeling in his hand and grip and had to use heavier sticks but didn't help. It was after this and a year delay, that Phil went under surgery on his neck but seems they misdiagnosed and he ended up having another surgery this time on his wrist however, he was unable to recover feeling and then his health due to his drinking detriated and he suffered a few falls and now has a foot problem leaving him unable to walk very much or stand for long.
Phil is hurting big time, i respect his attempt not only that night, which seem like one of the most sluggish i have ever heard, but also for the tour itself, as a macrocosm of the same issue.
It ain't age! Lack of playing time. Rust. Many of the greats, especially the jazz guys, are doing amazing stuff at far greater ages. Look up Roy Haynes!
I've loved them for 30 years but at this point I wonder if they're on the road because they're bored and just can't think of what else to do. Not looking to offend anyone (like I said, am a fan). But why retread stuff when the level of intensity & performance is so tame compared to what it once was? I'd rather they record some new music & try something else they haven't for a long time: writing stuff that is different, adventurous & NOT bubblegum. We know they have the talent. Just not the drive
plseae come back to jesus he can for give you of your sins check out this on youtube- baby jesus apparition video emerges just days after christmas mass in bethlehem on video and this- say this miracle prayer daily& it will change your life on youtube
They are old, but they have young hearts and their music is always young
ive been a fan of genesis for 20 years now (it would of been longer but i wasnt born) and i never get tired of listening to them. rock on forever!!
Saw them in Toronto and in Montreal back in 2007. They were great. I was also inpressed with Phil Collin's French language speaking skills.
Ralph Figueroa - he’s married to a french speaking Swiss.
Genesis es la banda más importante para mi y para mucha gente de Argentina de todos lo tiempos

I was there!!! and I was only 13 :)

Nice! It was my first concert, and I had just turned 13 myself.

bad ass

I've been hooked to Collins ever since Disney's Tarzan.
So sad that Genesis is leaving.
The greatest band ever, after Yes ofcourse !!
I kinda agree - though they did throw in a few songs that haven't been played since the 1970'ies.
Well, he hasn't said that he would never drum again, just that he was taking a long break due to his back surgery.
I would like to see the entire concert
I agree with you mortcola, I have been studying Phil's drumming for years. He has always said he is a drummer first, but it is evident with this tour his drumming has been put on the back burner for years now, a least this style of music.

some of the people in my lief my life you wouldn't believe
they really sound tired, but theirs legaly is inmortal and timeless
This is amazing! Soundboard, proshot! Amazing! Where I can get more of this stuff? Is amazing!!
yay for unsynched audio
Well I did have to compress it quite a bit but I am not sure if it was "DVD Quality" to satrt with...

Wow less than 12 years later. And he became a shell of his former self. Sad
Ithink thats was dukes into with turn it on again... i have the live over eroupe Cd and it says dukes and this is the exsact song

Great stuff !
(Nothing to bicker about)
Its a reunion tour..and the people want to hear those same songs...its basically a hit parade..money tours generally are.
@B17MIKE Sounds damn fine to me.
@tindrum
he's feeling the music
LETS JUST AND WAIT SEE?
They have already a drummer. Phil could only sing if had pain in his arms and hands like i heard.
What makes you say that?
who do you think is better phil or peter
Phil is hurting big time, i respect his attempt not only that night, which seem like one of the most sluggish i have ever heard, but also for the tour itself, as a macrocosm of the same issue.
So wait...they filmed the show? Where do I go to see the rest :S
@tindrum Hopefully, his back surgery helped him out a little and he'll be able to get back someday.
@whiterobin You sure are angry. You should listen to Ripples and calm down or something.

3:42 - More trouble every day! (?)
Cheers to Phil, the richest Kiwi i know.
Where exactly was this? I'm guessing Parc Jean-Drapeau because the stage probably doesnt fit in the Bell Center
Olympic Stadium
What's with Phil and the weird hand gestures?
ya this is the tour where he damaged his neck. what kinda ended his instrument playing abitility
This performance doesnt seem very raw. Sounds too relaxed. I saw them in Philly and it was much louder with more energy. Raw.
I do understand Phil is gimped up just saying..
they need to change stroemer and thompson
@B17MIKE Nope.
I clicked hoping to see Leland Sklar. Still good though.
Thats who abundantYOUniverse is homebuiltindoorplane I warned people on his site about his alter ago name
Phil is obviously starting to lose it here on the drums. You can tell he is struggling.
Olympic Stadium
bootleg?

@clced1 more like a minor 3rd.

Take your peter and hack it!

maybe hes lacking because he is 90% deaf...ever consider that?
what is wrong with you
plseae come back to jesus he can for give you of your sins check out this on youtube- baby jesus apparition video emerges just days after christmas mass in bethlehem on video and this- say this miracle prayer daily& it will change your life on youtube
Wrong speed. Wrong key. Out of synch. No energy. I love them but this is bad any way you look at it.
@whiterobin
You need to get a life, you ain't a critic ..
6 people have bad taste in music.
