    Even without the books, Kyoshi has shown more than enough to be legendary tier. She literally split a continent in half. That's raw power far beyond what even Boomy was capable of. As for combat power/fighting style, she trained the Kyoshi warriors and taught them how to fight. So imagine Suki, but far more skilled in every way and with Earth bending even stronger than Boomy.

When he surrenders then no one dies on his city bcs there was never a war or a fight, he just waits until the Fire nation couldn't afford to go to war for that specific city and then retake it, so all his habitants where always safe

    Avatar Szeto: Masters - he could go in not enough rocks thrown, but we do see him lava bend 4 volcanoes at once in the show, so I'd say he goes above Roku, he probably should go higher but we don't see any other feats (Szeto is the fire avatar before Yangchen)
    Spoilees for the comics below
    Sun (Toph Beifong's Metalbending Academy): Skilled - She's a though she has minimal control over lava, I'd put her just above The Boulder
    Ho Tun, Penga, & The Dark One (Many Comics): Prodigies - They show mild proficiencs in combat and teach beginner metalbenders at Toph's academy, they were also Toph's first students.
    Yaling (Imbalance): Masters - Above Korra, she was able to go equal with Toph, but she did get the jump on her, ultimately she could go higher but we don't see enough feats
    Liling (Imbalance): Masters - Above Yaling, she's Yaling's mother and shoes greater proficiency in earthbending than her daughter
    Spoilers for Rise of Kyoshi & Shadow of Kyoshi below.
    Wong (Rise of Kyoshi): Prodigies - I'd put him just below a Dai Li agent, he can step on air with a technique called dust-stepping and he's proficient in combat
    Lek (Rise of Kyoshi): Prodigies - Just above Wong/Under a Dai Li agent, he's a master of precision and can dust-step, he's most known for using a stone-bullet technique
    Kyoshi (Shadow of Kyoshi): I'd put her earthebeding at a level just above Aang's, maybe above Korra's, she's obviously much stronger in the future, but she's nowhere near her peak in the novels
    Jianzhu (Rise of Kyoshi): Just below Bumi, his earth bending easily countered AS Kyoshi in Rise of Kyoshi and he taught Kuruk, Yun, etc. He took down a whole military fleet with 2 stone pillars, and he's regarded as the best in his generation
    Kuruk (Shadow of Kyoshi): Legendary - Above Toph, he's regarded as equal to pre-fusion Yun so yea. (Edit was here, I kinds underestimated pre-fusion Yun initially so I had to bump him up)
    Post-Fusion Yun (Shadow of Kyoshi): Legendary - Above Toph, he went toe to tor with Hei Ran, Rangi, and Kyoshi with ease. He also killed and ate a spirit KURUK couldn't defeat BEFORE he fused with it while he was exhausted.

    While I do agree that lava bending is overpowered in terms of raw power I don’t think it broke the magic system, there are two non avatar lava benders meaning it’s so rare (on the level of blood bending) that the pure power of it works in my opinion. Obviously if it became as common as metal bending did then it would be incredibly broken. Also you have to acknowledge the sheer power that air bending contains in just it’s one element but when you factor in the nature of air benders it offsets the raw power, Zaheer showed how deadly a single air bender could be if they wanted. My point is the raw strength of a type of bending isn’t the sole part of what defines its ‘brokenness’ much like how blood bending (imo even more powerful than lava bending) or sucking air out of the lungs of someone doesn’t break the magic system due to other limiting factors

      @@AllAboutAvatar.i think one of the key points to consider is the type of people who do lava bend. we only see it in avatars and 2 very unique earth benders. In the avatars it makes sense, as it seems like a sort of fusion between earth and fire, yet in the 2 non-avatars, there is a common characteristic. they both have a very fluid, light style of bending that is in huge contrast to “ideal” earth bending. Bo Lin is very agile and chooses not to be sturdy, as most earth benders try to be, which I think is reflected in lava bending. this would also bring a new light to the avatars who lava bend, as they have already learned styles of bending that are in stark contrast to earth bending, I choose to think of it as a different approach to earth bending; instead of becoming as solid as the earth, make the earth as fluid as you.

And the fact that Xin Fu lasted as long as he did against Tohp was impressive enough. By nature, the fact that Aang struggled with Earthbending, it is hard to call him a prodigy, I'd say he would be fire water and fire, and the fact that by the time he took down the Fire Lord/Phoenix King Toph said he still had a long way to go in mastering it. Now I love Bolin, he is my favorite character, but I would put him at prodigy, not master. I was wondering where you would put Toph in relation to Bumi. I knew they'd be the top 2, but the question was who would be #1.
    I would say that Bumi is probably a match for AtLA Toph, but LoK Toph is just too much. Effortlessly beating Korra, literally sensing things from the other side of the continent, and frankly when she learns Bolin is a Lava Bender, her reaction makes me think she could probably do it, as well. Toph taught herself Earth, Sand, and Metal Bending. Would is be a shock to think she taught herself Lava Bending? (The only way I see her not being able to is if they confirm the fan theory that Lava Bending is only possible for Earth Benders who have Fire Nation ancestry.)
    Otherwise, I think this list is pretty fair. I'd probably but Aang a bit higher. Even by the end of AtLA, he was demonstrating Earth Bending that was clearly on par or better than people higher on the list.
    Oh, and Kyoshi should probably be Legendary. She has some insane feats with it in her book. Most notably when she pulled Earth from the Ocean's surface. They were literally meeting out at sea to prevent Earth Bending, and she was able to pull Earth from the bottom of the ocean. It was also shown that she was better at large scale Earth Bending than more nuanced Earth Bending and started using the fans to help her focus and control her Earth Bending.

    This feels like a “who do we see earth bend more” list rather than a “who’s most powerful” tier list

    Toph was mostly a hard counter to other earth benders, and her unique self taught style caught her opponents off guard because she fought so differently from other earthbenders. Benders with the ability to change their trajectory midair can take Toph down without too much trouble if they knew how Toph's style worked.

    Toph is probably one of the most gifted benders of all time. Probably the best earthbender of all time. It's hard to say who is the best ever in the other 3 elements.

      Yeah definitely. The others are a lot harder. Toph is a one of a kind beast

    You put Korra over Aang? Naw...

    • @aleksei933
      @aleksei933 Год назад +4

      Of course she is, if we only take into account what they have shown on a screen. Korra used earthbending much more frequently and effectively. She is even a metalbender, lol. But let's not forget, that Aang have learned earthbending for couple of months and it was the toughest for him. Result probably will be different, when we see adult gaang movie

    • @AllAboutAvatar.
      @AllAboutAvatar.  Год назад +4

      Yeah, I agree with Алексей on this one. From what we've been shown, Korra is clearly a more capable earthbender than Aang. But at the same time, we only saw Aang in a short time period. So perhaps, one could argue that his potential is greater than that of Korra's. Anyway, with how these rankings work, we can only go off of what we've been shown of the characters. Hope you enjoyed the video!

      Korra cam metalbend and she's more naturally skilled at earthebending along with having more training
      Not only thst but many of the times when Aang uses earth, it's either imprisoning after the fight is basically won (Yakone, Ozai) or it's actively hindering his fighting style.

    Definitely agree with the placements of these characters, I really like how you placed the Avatars objectively instead of like most people that put them right at the top just based on the fact theyre an avatar. Definitely check out the Kyoshi and Yangchen books, the placement of Kyoshi is my only wtf of the list but i get it if it's just based on the tv series. Before knowing she was the Avatar she easily lifted the bottom of the ocean up to crush a bunch of warships.

    as well as a "best benders" tier list you could also do a list of the best non-benders too! of course it wouldn't be as big as the benders list, but it is worth the mention

    The thing about Bumi moving that statue is that's what the rock smiley face was for. He wasn't bending the statue, he was bending the rocks he had just lobbed into metal ozai's face.
