I would’ve had June way higher, we just didn’t get to see enough of her, but I’d rank her with Mai. I mean she’s literally a bounty hunter! Completely agree on Ty Lee’s placement though!!❤️
I have two things to say about this video: You said Zuko could be more deadly as a non bender with his swords than a bender. This is obviously not the case because in Zuko Alone he was easily defeated by an earth bending soldier without the use of his bending, but when he used his fire bending, he easily beat the same soldier in the matter of seconds. The second thing I wanted to say is that you should've included Azula and Oman on the list since you included Zuko. In my opinion, Azula might be the best fighter in the series as a non bender but it's hard to say between her and Tylee. Azula's agility and persuasion on the second episode of the Day of the Black Sun was breathtaking. Not only did she out maneuver Toph, Sokka, and Aang in the whole fight (with some help from the Di Lee of course), she also was manipulating all of them into wasting their time with her all along! Tylee wouldn't be able to pull that off because she isn't a master manipulator like Azula. Oman though is on a different level in terms non bending fighting skill because I think he could hold his own in a fight with Azula and Tylee at once if they all didn't use bending. He held his own against all benders for a while before season 1 (when he was building his society of Equalists) and for the majority of season 1. No one was able to catch him for the longest time. Oman was so OP as a non bender it was insane.
Sokka skill mostly comes from his intelligence like piando said he takes out combustion man arguably the strongest fire bender but he was also the only member of the gain who could figure out how to get an angle on him not to mention that he thought up the subs and figured out how to make the war ballon work plus the machines built by the fire nation that he destroyed (drill and airship slice)
I think Mai really is handicapped by it being a kids show. She's never actually allowed to hit anyone with her projectiles which limits what you can do with her (Reasons she sort of just fades and leaves Ty Lee to deal with the half dozen Earth Benders). If Avatar was like a Netflix series or something think she would've shinned more.
I totally agree with your take on Zuko. It always felt like that until the final Agni Kai Zuko's firebending was either weakish or just not fully realized. But whenever he grabbed a sword, he demolished almost anyone in his path
Smellerbees dancing was the beginning to her insta-kill technique, but she didnt get to finish the ritual because it would have been too OP to add into the show.
Some other benders I would have included; Zaheer-not enough non-bending, he would go in legendary if Zuko is to be believed, but we don't see it Amon-not enough non-bending, he has some amazing feats that look like non-bending, but we have no way to tell if and when he was subtly using bloodbending to help Katara-novice, we see in her fights with paku and ty lee that she is totally useless in hand-to-hand Aang-advanced, he demonstrates from time to time great feats of evasion that appear to be unassisted by air-bending. Could be in not enough non-bending for similar reasons to amon Azula-Prodigy, she beat Zuko in hand to hand at the beginning of book two and was masterful at evasion during the invasion Iroh-master, he was able to toss zhao after his agni-kai, put his chains to great use against the earth benders, and broke out of prison during the invasion I'd probably also rank Wan and Korra, but it's been a while since I've seen that show
Darn, I would've included Amon too. He really only used bloodbending to take away others' bending, but was able to overwhelm his opponents first with his nonbending prowess. Low legendary
I can’t help but feel that Sokas boomerang moment against sparky sparky boom man wherein he threw it with such precision as to hit him in the head while out of sight on lower elevation should have bumped my man up a few notches
100% agree that Zuko’s sword skills outclass his firebending skills. It’s pretty much canon since the only reason that he has those sword skills in the first place is because his firebending came in so late and even after it came in he was so bad at it
Nice list but you forgot the leader of the red lotus. He was the leader even before becoming an air bender. In my opinion he had to be at least mentioned
Bumi and Varick deserve to be way higher on the list. Varick weapon is his brain and inventions, and therefore deserves place as a role model for all nonbenders. Bumi is a general. What he lacks in bending he makes up for it in madness, courage, and ability to unleash total chaos (when he rescued team Korra from Eska and Desna.) .
I think we underestimate Sokka's skill. He is extremely accurate with weapons other than his boomerang. He split a spear right down the middle during the eclipse invasion, and long before he met Piandao, he deflected Mai's very precise and quick knives in Omashu. I think low Master tier is perfect for Sokka. Side note, I would rank June above him in Master tier Edit: Thought not shown to be super agile, also figured out how to avoid Ty Lee's chi-blocking in Ba Sing Se after their first encounter.
I love how sokka is not a master because of his proeficiency in battle, but because of his creativity, I really can see him beating anyone asside from ty lee and piandao if he is in a really creative day, not to say that his overall skill with his boomerang is not to be joked whatsoever, I'd say he's more skilled with his boomerang than piandao is with his sword lol (not really but I want to hype up my boy)
Thinking about it like an actual tierlist, Ty Lee has the best matchups out of all non-benders against the strongest characters in the show. Pian Dao is absolutely a better martial artist than Ty Lee, but her skillset in the context of the Avatar world is unparalleled
Or how Ty Lee effortlessly took multiple air blasts from Aang and just reset herself np when everyone else got easily knocked down PS I still find it awesome they had the T1000 (Knives stabbing weapons) from T2 voice Piandao.
I would put ty lee in last place of legendary. As we seen, suki stays toe to toe with her. And, although suki could be defeatd by few ty lee punches, the opposite is the same. She wouldn't handle much of suki's punches as well and, as we saw in the video, suki actually coyld defend from ty lee and attack fast enough so ty lee had to counter instead of dodging(which is her standart)
I completely agree to put Ty Lee on #1 spot! The only battle Ty Lee lost was in the episode of the drill, where both Katara AND Toph were needed to plug up the sewer of the drill. Undoubtitly Ty Lee would have won if she could have gotten out of the slurry. I must point out that she never lost when fighting. So book 2 episode 20 when Toph and Sokka (and the earth king lol) recaptured Basko, Mai and Ty Lee did not fight as they were not ambitious in protecting the bear. The same holds for the fight in the Boiling rock part 2 on the gondula. I think that was an initial tie, but after Mai her saboutage she won from Azula.
I would put Piandao as #1, but I guess it depends on the scenario, 1v1 he most likely beats Ty Lee but since she can chi-block and has better mobility she would probably be more useful in a big fight, she's also pretty young so Piandao has a lot more experience, an older Ty Lee would probably beat him without many problems
I think Mai could be a bit higher, because unlike the archers she could throw multiple "arrows" at the same time with pinpoint accuracy. She was nuts. Not Tai Lee nuts, but she was powerful
I would say if you put the Blue Spirit/Zuko on this list even though he's a firebender, you should also put Amon on this list. Amon is probably around the level of Ty Lee in terms of reflexes, agility, and speed. Yes, Amon was a waterbender, but he never used his waterbending (unless he took your bending away with bloodbending) while fighting other opponents. He outclasses hundreds of benders and non benders. Even being able to take on Korra and Mako at the same time and the mustache guy. Amon was a chi blocker... his entire movement revolved around the equalists, knowing how to chi block... so I would assume Amon knew how
I hope that we can see a Batman and Iron Man or a human genetic experiment Like Spider-Man non benders like character in the future Avatar shows. It has a lot of potential.
if you were ranking groups i would’ve loved to see where you put the chi blockers from korra personally i would’ve put them in the high prodigy/low master tier and thats not me just showing them love… they are basically all ty lee at 70% and they easily took down korra and company in most episodes. i know that korra and her gang were inexperienced but regardless they made them look like clowns and i think that deserves at the very least prodigy (i also think there should be another tier between master and prodigy just in general, i think those 2 categories got a little muddy having certain characters on the same tier imo… theyre all good fighters but they dont belong in the same category)
Very good Tier List, and I agree with almost all of the placings; the only three which I would argue should be changed is Asami, Jet, and Mei (and maybe Pien Dau, if we're talking strictly unarmed combat, although, due to his many years of experience, I would assume he's at least somewhat capable in that area). While Mei is excellent with her throwing weapons (kunai, darts, knives, flechettes, etc.), her accuracy is top-tier, and her agility is also outstanding, I don't believe she has ever been shown to be capable at pure hand-to-hand. I feel that other fighters on the list, even ones on lower tiers, such as June, Pipsqueak. The Lieutenant, and Asami. could easily wipe the floor with Mei, if we're speaking strictly hand-to-hand, and even Sokka and Hakoda would probably beat her under those cicumstances. Same goes for Jet; he's crazy good with his hook-swords, but beyond them, all we've seen him do is throw a few easily defendable kicks. On the other hand, we've seen multiple times that Asami can take out several atackers with just her bare hands, and she is also proficient with multiple hand-held weapons. So, in my opinion, she is, overall, easily a better combatant than Mai or Jet, and I would put her just barely below Suki and Zuko. But, with all that being said, for now, lettuce leaf. 🥬😁🥬
It always felt like such a missed opportunity that after 'the fire bending masters' Zuko never developed a flaming sword technique to better compliment his skills
Ty Lee flew under the radar for many because she was a bubbly and girly character. But her fighting skills are on another level. If you think about it, she wasn’t really an offensive fighter. Chi blocking is more of a defense mechanism. But her insane acrobatic and athletic ability, her ability to move almost like an Airbender, and her unparalleled ability to block Chi, makes her number one no doubt. She could make even the strongest warriors seem pathetic as they lay on the ground , defenseless. I’m looking at you, Azula.
To include Zuko, then you might as well include Zaheer and Amon. With the latter being included on his chi blocking. His blood bending was not his choice fighting style. And prior to the Harmonic event, Zaheer was a non bender so lethal. They put him in an environment that would be near impossible to climb down from. They took no chances with him.
Amon was confirmed to have always been using his bending to make benders miss their attacks. He doesn’t count since pretty much all his amazing close-up combat. Feats was just because he was blood bending people to miss their attacks.
1. ATLA and LOK avoids blood, and is careful with on-screen deaths. Characters who use bladed weapons (Mai, Piandao, Suki, Jet, Season 3 Sokka etc.) don't get maximized. Imagine an R-18 reimagining of ATLA, these characters would be extremely dangerous. 2. While watching the show, I've always been "afraid" of Ty Lee. Remember, is Zuko is the only bender in Team Avatar who could still fight without bending. The rest would be rendered useless the moment Ty Lee gets within arms reach.
Ty Lee is this shows way to make sure people can belive that a nonbender is able to rival a bender that uses bending. She singlehandedly balanced the magicsystem.
Not entirely, though, because a skill bender can simply do something big in a 360° attack and there’s nothing she can do. That’s the only exception though if she can get close you are screwed
@@LjCast-b6q nono, obviously a bender is more versatile and will inevitably outrank a nonbender. But Ty Lee is still a real threat to benders. and that is important for the show to make people like Sokka feel as if they could fight Azula and win if they just had the skill to do so.
@@ast8177 agree a truly powerful bender is something no non-bender can compete with, but given the illusion of an equal playing field, is something that Ty Lee does really well
Zaheer should definitely get an honorable mention. The man was the leader of a group of some of the best benders and he himself was a non bender. They said individually the red lotus could beat any bender. We dont get to see it but he must have been bad ass
I would rank Bumi highest "Not enough punches thrown" tier, he was a high ranking commander in the United Forces as a non-bender. While he tends to exaggerate his feats, he still got this rank somehow and must have some fighting skills. We also see him fighting at retirement age against very strong opponents which Bumi clearly can't beat on his own like a dark spirit and Ghazan. Bumi didn't show impressive skills, but you can't tell me a non-bender here can beat a dark spirit. Every time we saw Bumi fights he was in an unfair fight.
sokka is a really good strategist and was resourceful(and lucky) in many fights, but i think he would straight up lose in a 1v1 against half of these fighters tbh... I personally would've put him in prodigy and move jun into master. She is not losing a fight to him like be serious, even hakoda(ill admit he doesnt have a enough feats but i dont see him losing a fight to his son)
I agree they did need to fail for the plot but how it was showcased can say a lot, and it was shown that they were just outclassed. It makes sense as the Kyoshi Warriors are from an isolationist island and didn't get involved in the war until recently as Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee are Frie Nation Rolayty and Nobles given the best training with the expectation to get involved in the war or to protect their fellow noblemen. Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee were just better trained and experienced than the Kyoshi Warriors at that point in time. So it makes sense they would lose in the way it was shown. TBH the humbling L was kinda needed since Suki didn't level up until B3.
Ty lee is actually the best with all these considered. She could like disarm her opponents, taking away their bending for a period. Sokka is more of a great leader and probably the funniest character
Sokka is LEGENDARY. His 1v1 skills may be lower but his ingenuity is insanely high. He is able to come up with so many great strategies/traps. Like of course i would rank Ty Lee in 1v1s better but as an overall fighter she is much worst than Sokka. Sokka has some skill in many areas.
If you mentioned dual-sword Zuko, I dont think its fair not to include Azula too - where she pretty much outmaneuvered Aang/Sokka/Toph without the need of her bending. IMO shes at least Master tier, if not Legend.

And Azula became an even better non-bending fighter in the comics.
I would probably give Zaheer and Azula the legendary spot if we got to see just a bit more of them without their bending
Toph inventing metal bending and Ty Lee inventing chi blocking and having them be common practice in Korra was so good to see
I totally agree with your take on Zuko. It always felt like that until the final Agni Kai Zuko's firebending was either weakish or just not fully realized. But whenever he grabbed a sword, he demolished almost anyone in his path
I just went in knowing full well that Ty Lee is going to be the #1 spot. She's the only non-bender that could go toe-to-toe with benders head on.
I 10000% agreed and happy that you put Zuko
The archers that captured Aang were never defeated, we don't know their limits. Other than that I agree with everything!
Smellerbees dancing was the beginning to her insta-kill technique, but she didnt get to finish the ritual because it would have been too OP to add into the show.
Some other benders I would have included;
Zaheer-not enough non-bending, he would go in legendary if Zuko is to be believed, but we don't see it
Amon-not enough non-bending, he has some amazing feats that look like non-bending, but we have no way to tell if and when he was subtly using bloodbending to help
Katara-novice, we see in her fights with paku and ty lee that she is totally useless in hand-to-hand
Aang-advanced, he demonstrates from time to time great feats of evasion that appear to be unassisted by air-bending. Could be in not enough non-bending for similar reasons to amon
Azula-Prodigy, she beat Zuko in hand to hand at the beginning of book two and was masterful at evasion during the invasion
Iroh-master, he was able to toss zhao after his agni-kai, put his chains to great use against the earth benders, and broke out of prison during the invasion
I'd probably also rank Wan and Korra, but it's been a while since I've seen that show
Azula defeated Suyuki without magic. she is second only to Ty Lee
I am a big avatar fan and I have never heard of Avater generations. downloading it already. Thank you.
Awesome!
Darn, I would've included Amon too. He really only used bloodbending to take away others' bending, but was able to overwhelm his opponents first with his nonbending prowess. Low legendary
Cabbage man GOAT
Rememmber when Soka hit that combustion dud in the head with his boomerang without even having a line of sight? That was impressive as fuck.
im missing azula xD (she fought without fire power during the eclipse aswell) and is ducking scary
I can’t help but feel that Sokas boomerang moment against sparky sparky boom man wherein he threw it with such precision as to hit him in the head while out of sight on lower elevation should have bumped my man up a few notches
100% agree that Zuko’s sword skills outclass his firebending skills. It’s pretty much canon since the only reason that he has those sword skills in the first place is because his firebending came in so late and even after it came in he was so bad at it
Exactly his swords skills inform his character more which is really neat!
tbh varrick gotta be top tier because of how smart he is, non bending isn't just hand to hand
i wouldve put amon in this as he was almost never using his bending skills
So proud of my boy Lee xDD Also Ty Lee is practically a ninja she jump on trees and have Hyuuga abilities xD
Side note, I would rank June above him in Master tier
Edit: Thought not shown to be super agile, also figured out how to avoid Ty Lee's chi-blocking in Ba Sing Se after their first encounter.
I didn't remember piandoa actually trained zuko as well as sokka wow cool
I would put Piandao as #1, but I guess it depends on the scenario, 1v1 he most likely beats Ty Lee but since she can chi-block and has better mobility she would probably be more useful in a big fight, she's also pretty young so Piandao has a lot more experience, an older Ty Lee would probably beat him without many problems
More useful in a big fight. Meanwhile Piandao is confirmed to have taken down 100 soldiers by himself 🗿
Love this channel avatar is my favorite show all time!
Thanks man!
I think Mai could be a bit higher, because unlike the archers she could throw multiple "arrows" at the same time with pinpoint accuracy. She was nuts. Not Tai Lee nuts, but she was powerful
Ty lee is practically an energy bender
Considering Ty Lee age, and so her potential to be even better growing up, her spot is right. Absolutely invincible in the serie.
Amon was a chi blocker... his entire movement revolved around the equalists, knowing how to chi block... so I would assume Amon knew how
I know it was an accident but you said Bumi was Aang's 2nd son, he's the oldest. It went Bumi, Kya, Tenzin
i love that some of the best non benders are benders lol, you shouldve added amon to this list too
I hope that we can see a Batman and Iron Man or a human genetic experiment Like Spider-Man non benders like character in the future Avatar shows. It has a lot of potential.
I love Wu. Me and my brother keep quoting our favorite Wu line: "Hmmm I'm in Landry."
I agree Ty Lee in the first rank 🎉 she deserve it
Another scene that proves that Sokka became a master of the boomerang is when he defeats Sparky Sparky Boom Man
if you were ranking groups i would’ve loved to see where you put the chi blockers from korra
personally i would’ve put them in the high prodigy/low master tier and thats not me just showing them love… they are basically all ty lee at 70% and they easily took down korra and company in most episodes. i know that korra and her gang were inexperienced but regardless they made them look like clowns and i think that deserves at the very least prodigy (i also think there should be another tier between master and prodigy just in general, i think those 2 categories got a little muddy having certain characters on the same tier imo… theyre all good fighters but they dont belong in the same category)
Another possible tier list: Which bender would be the most dangerous without using their bending?
Zuko should’ve ditched his little fire dagger move and use his fire bending to compliment his dual sword skills
Ty Lee had every bender shook!!
It always felt like such a missed opportunity that after 'the fire bending masters' Zuko never developed a flaming sword technique to better compliment his skills
Actually, he did kind of have a flaming sword technique when fighting Gow in "Zuko Alone"!
I think your right about Zuko being a better swordsman than a Bender
Zaheer should have been on the list he was a high ranking red lotus member b4 ever bending, we gotta respect that
BABE GET DOWN HERE. ALLABOUTAVATAR POSTED ANOTHER VIDEO
This made my day
Sokka has a confirmed kill on Sparky-Sparky-Boom Man. So there's that.
The rest would be rendered useless the moment Ty Lee gets within arms reach.
ty lee is the best in any category she is in. good lord what a pretty woman
I can't believe that Iroh isn't here he literally busted himself from metal bars using his hands.
Ty Lee absolutely. She's got high mobility and her combat skills are something to be feared thanks to her mastery of chi-blocking.
@@ast8177 agree a truly powerful bender is something no non-bender can compete with, but given the illusion of an equal playing field, is something that Ty Lee does really well
Tai Lee is the best against benders and the most agile, Suki is the best hand to hand, and Saka's master is the best swordsman.
Zaheer should definitely get an honorable mention. The man was the leader of a group of some of the best benders and he himself was a non bender. They said individually the red lotus could beat any bender. We dont get to see it but he must have been bad ass
Ty Lee is Ty Lee she can literally beat skilled benders
15:20 The Kyoshi Warriors went up against Azula and lost, cause it’s Azula but also because they kinda needed to fail for the plot
How about spirit skills? It won't be a long list but there will be some cool characters like Iroh and yue
Personally I think asami should have been higher in the legendary list
What about non-water/bloodbending Amon?
Ty lee is actually the best with all these considered. She could like disarm her opponents, taking away their bending for a period. Sokka is more of a great leader and probably the funniest character
Sokka is LEGENDARY. His 1v1 skills may be lower but his ingenuity is insanely high. He is able to come up with so many great strategies/traps. Like of course i would rank Ty Lee in 1v1s better but as an overall fighter she is much worst than Sokka. Sokka has some skill in many areas.
valid list i feel like sokka might be higher and asami be above mai ngl
Feel like the lieutenant should have been higher in the legendary status maybe, literally held his own against Korra and benders multiple times
Nah bro Ty Lee just crazy overpowered like the only reason she didnt solo the entire series is because she just wants to chill and be happy and shit
9:00 TBH he’d just be honoured
Being born a non bender has to be the biggest kick in the ass
I love the rabkings. Keep it up
I love rapkings too
U should rank the teamwork of every band/army/team
Sokka, Ty Lee, and Suki are my favorite non-benders.
When u Include zuko without firebending u should also include iroh without fire bending (one man army(prison break))
All is fair in love and war. So Bumi’s hair pulling and biting is 100% legit
If you mentioned dual-sword Zuko, I dont think its fair not to include Azula too - where she pretty much outmaneuvered Aang/Sokka/Toph without the need of her bending. IMO shes at least Master tier, if not Legend.
That random chi blocker that folded korra deserves to be here😂
