You did not just rank the twins and the swamp guy above Hama. That’s just sad. Hama knew it all she was basically the element itself. And the only reason why she got beaten by katara is because of blood bleeding. Had she not told her about that technique, Hama would have definitely won 1v1.
Katara became a master waterbender in a matter of weeks, was able to hold off Azula and a bunch of Dai Li, defeated a comet boosted Azula, and figured out how to bloodbend (a technique that usually takes years to learn) in like two minutes whilst fighting Hama. All this at age 14. This is also not to mention her being one of the best healers in the world. Ya, no, she's easily legendary tier.
Agreed but she is probably the weakest in that tier because she very clearly is outclassed by ming hua and the blood benders outclass her in terms of raw power.
@@b111x idk if I'd agree with that. The only waterbenders we see fight Ming Hua are the twins and Kya. Katara would body the twins and Kya's a healer primarily. I think Katara's adaptability, skill, and determination might put her on equal footing at least.
she only brought him back alive because of the water she received. not cause she had the actual power to. but i do think katara and paku should be higher. but i don’t know
The water may have spiritual properties, but in the Yangchen books they make it more clear how much a healer’s able to do is based on their skill level. Based on the knowledge of healing as a bending ability, Katara is better even than Avatar Yangchen, who was known for her healing skills. Spiritual locations were helpful for settings but the epiphanies were always coming from Aang/Korra and the power inside them. At least that’s my interpretation.
Really refreshing to see someone acknowledge how much of a menace Ming Hua was. We’ve never really seen a waterbender fight with such ferocity. Waterbenders are mainly defensive combatants and adapt to whatever force is charging at them, but with Ming-Hua, she was relentless and in your face. She has the aggression of a fire bender and the mobility of an airbender, but with the adaptability of a waterbender. She was so formidable.
@Brian Torres easily? She beat Mako easily the first time. Ming Hua felt nerfed the final fight. She almost immediately ran out of water and got shocked immediately afterwards. All she needed was a Katara waterskin, and it would have been an easy win against Mako at the end.
Hama is the one I'd move up maybe half a tier. She may not have had the raw power, but her creativity with waterbending was unmatched anywhere in ATLA. She's the first waterbender we ever see pulling water from the air, and as far as we know she came up with bloodbending all on her own. That shows not just a high level of mastery, but very high resourcefulness which is a defining trait of great waterbenders.
@@luis_zuniga exactly, comparing people from whats just seen rather than everyone in their prime isn't going to be the most accurate representation of characters strengths and weaknesses. LIke comparing Kya with others. She grew up out of the war where her fighting skills didn't need to be great and focussed on mastering healing in comparison to hama and katara who both grew up and learnt during the war where they had to defend theirselves
@@Frarango I agree with counting them in their prime, which should get Hama to a way higher tier since, physically, a grandma isn't going to be as durable as a fighter as an old person (except if we're counting Buumi I guess, Toph for example had her back being a pain in the ass). But then, we're counting their potential, and so Katara, who decided to never, well, almost never, use her bloodbending abilities again, basically locked her potential for this bending away, and even render it illegal worldwide. In the same idea as with Hama and her age, Katara and her mindset made her less of a great fighter than she could have been. If she had trained her bloodbending in the same ways she trained her other abilities, who knows if she wouldn't have figured out to use it outside of a full moon ?
Kataras abilities with healing and combat, and yes even blood bending (which should still be counted because it's still rare to blood bend even during a full moon) she's legendary for me no doubt.
@@vetabeta9890 she seems strong because she is strong. I bet she could beat most water benders in a battle. The fraction we see as main characters aside, she could take most and even some of them. Her rare ability to blood bend, learning in just days, and her healing capability, being an excellent healer and even teaching other water benders to heal, show shes strong. Main character or not🤷
@@borathebrat yeah honestly because amon, tarrlok, and yakone practiced alot. That's how they were able to use it so well. I'm willing to be katara could've mastered it just as well if she wanted to. There's a lot under her belt that shouldn't be overlooked. Renowned as the best healer in the world, come on😅
We don't exactly know how good at water-bending you need to be to learn how to blood bend. Blood bending is very uncommon. I will give her points for learning it quickly though.
@@MachinaOwl we don't know, you're right. But just the fact it is uncommon and she can do it sets her on a higher skill of waterbending that most of every other water bender cannot claim.
Nah Katara is too low. In the comics she proves herself worthy of being over pakku, Ming Hua, Roku, and korra. Katara is shown to be able to move as much water in the comics as korra did against the Giant Mech against General Old Iron. Not to mention iroh states that Katara strikes him as the most powerful outside of Aang. Her mobility gets even better as she’s able to use ice bridges to “fly” in the air. Not to mention katara also uses water arms, can pull water out of thin air in the comics, from plants, she even plantbends in the comics. She’s effortlessly seen to be able to create gigantic waves, in BROAD DAYLIGHT. Idk i guess we need to wait till the new avatar movie comes out.
I also think she's too low, but because she's been actually learning for 3-4 months just like Aang. Whatever she practiced before she met Aang was just done blindly, and she gets really good. I think that considering she should be above Pakku at least.
I agree that she is too low, but Ming-Hua is simply stronger. We have never seen anyone use water like she does, her fighting style is too evasive for Katara to counter
I think Aang had the problem of Water availability, he barely got to use water bending in a lot of fights due to not running around with a water pouch, the only water bending he really does is big scale due to him only using it next to a big body of water.
To be fair to Aang in this regard too He was a (1)12 year old Airbending Master when he woke up, the series spanned over not much more than a year Waterbending would have been the only bending style he'd have to carry resources with him for while Katara did already He was used to his Element (Air) being everywhere, when he learned Earth and Fire they followed him too, water he has to bring so it makes sense he uses water bending less as an Air Nomad Avatar
@@heylolp9 Aang has a habit of using all other elements only when absolutely needed. He mainly uses air due to his ideology I bet, the fact he never learned the other elements any further than the regular bending implies as much.
@@hueyfreeman7184 That's not so much his skill as the properties of water itself though. Quite frankly I'm not even sure that should've been possible. Toph was able to sense the sheer heat of the firebenders while miles away on a blimp and those guys aren't nearly as powerful as Ozai. Any water thrown at his fire should logically vaporize before it can even impact imo. Aang used water in battle only twice/thrice iirc. Once he redirected a waterfall; which already has motion and volume behind it and thus requires less effort and the other time(s) he was in the AS which makes it less impressive in general.
I'd dispute Katara being so low. In the Firebending Video you have ranked Azula under the dragon Tier. And Katara has won against Azula on two occasions (end battle and in the crystal cave). To be honest I dont know if I would rank her higher than the people u mention above her. There is just so many OP waterbenders they all belong into S Tier xD
Haha yeah bro. I agree that it’s hard to rank them. I agree that grandmasters in this tier could possibly beat Azula. Doesn’t mean Azula does not belong in the dragontier.
This. She's the only person to consistently match Azula and honestly I think post-Hama Katara sits comfortably in the same tier of skill as Toph. Northern Style, Southern Style, Plantbending, Bloodbending AND healing. I don't think there's any other bender in the franchise who knows as many aspects of their native element. If Ming Hua is the Toph of water, Katara is the Yun.
To be fair, water bending seems to be the most powerful and most diverse element. Only disadvantage is the accessibility of water and reliance on the substance, like earth
Watching katara it always felt like she wasn’t just a water bender , it was a part of her if that makes sense , her quick advancement , adaptability , creativity , sub-forms and being around Other benders most of the time made her a really strong , well rounded and an unpredictable bender imo , but I feel like she only got better in the future after the show ended
Regarding Hama's skill... I just wanted to point out that in her time she was the last waterbender standing among all the waterbenders in the Southern Water Tribe...
You didn't mention how katara was caught in a wooden cage with Toph and started running on the spot to generate sweat to bend and cut the cage. Katara is extremely amazing, fighting is just not really her thing and she doesn't have the ambition to push to far. She wanted to be good enough to help her friends and family
Especially katara many people think katara can beat amon and tarlok like bruh if nickelodeon was not aimed at kids then the bloodbending family would be the most brutal guys in the world and no one could defeat them, they could just look at you and ur neck would snap or heart will explode.
@@AllAboutAvatar. I loved it I've been making Avatar TikToks and your takes match mine for the most part. I only disagreed with Tarrlok I think Desna, Eska, and Kya all performed better in combat than him.
Even without taking her bloodblending into consideration, Hama should be ranked higher. She was the last waterbender in the Southern Water Tribe, surviving through countless battles and standing strong against literal armies of fire benders. That’s no small feat and is testament to a level of skill few other waterbenders have showcased. Also, we should take into account her age when she’s fighting Katara-she’s easily in her eighties and she still put up a strong fight against Katara. If she had been closer to her prime, I think she’d be going fit for hit with Katara easily. Hama is a grandmaster.
Katarra is still severely underrated. PLS Remember that she was learning it in a short amount of time along with Aang. She was able to handle a master, pakku, and can also fight toph with waterbending quite well. We see her ability to waterbend, bloodbend and also she mastered healing. Healing is taken as not skillful but without it, Aang would have died without a healer. Also Korra had way more time then her and aang to master waterbending but they had impressive feats. Korra already trained since young. Unfair advantage
Interesting thing about Ming-Hua is that she doesn't need to move to waterbend. I had a headcanon that chi flows that would've located in her arms still exist and so she can channel them into her water arms and use them exactly like actual arms
Kinda like real life phantom limb syndrome, where people with missing limbs still feel them there because the parts of the brain that control said limbs still exist even after the limbs are removed.
To me Katara deserved better, as she only chooses not to bloodbend, but I ready to bet that if she trained her ability and embraced it, she would be able to bloodbend at any time. Not to mention her incredible healing skills (she brought Aang back from the dead, that’s no easy stuff, plus she proved she was open minded to all the possibilities of waterbending, as she is the only SWEATBENDER we saw. And just for that she deserves Legendary tier ahah
look u talking about potential this video is on facts not theoretical katar could do it but did she? nope she never mastered bloodbending so that mean she is not stronger than the bloodbenders and also not to mention bloodbending without fulll moon is genetic as stated from yakone so ya katara cannot bloodbend without full moon
@@alimurtaza6318 you don’t know to what point she could have been able to master it. Plus there is absolutely no evidence that the new type of bloodbending is genetical, for what we know, it could be atteignable by the simple act of, I don’t know, practicing it for years and years with no choice but to embrace it. That’s how the brothers got it. It’s non-genetical. How to explain then that Noatak has a much stronger bending than his brother, if this power is genetical ?
@@chilixol7177 bro u talking about potential, but the fact is she never did, how can u assume something which she never did u can make predictions yes but those predictions aren't suppose to be taken as fact, the fact is katara never bloodbend without full moon and fact is katara never mastered bloodbending, deal with it. Next yes there is evidence watch yakones speech he says they belong to the most strongest line of bloodbending which means the feats they are able to achieve with bloodbending cannot be done by anyone besides their bloodline. Second yes u don't know genetics?? Look bro Noatok is stronger cuz he got a heart of stone but tarlok is much more soft but their genetics still plays role that only they can bloodbend without full moon, u got no evidence that katara can besides some lame predictions on how strong she is "so she will be able to do it" but I got clear evidence by yakones speech it clearly says they belong to the strongest bloodbending bloodline which means the feats they are achieving with bloodbending are cuz of their genetics.
It's so lame Amon never beat his father, great genetic and teached potential with extraordinary set of self-learned skills and huge motivation. No one could beat him.
Dude in the video got it wrong. Amon is a stronger blood bender than his father. Yes, Yakone controlling an entire courtroom is extremely impressive, but that still doesn't beat Amon's ability to take away bending. Like Amon himself said when he was younger, one of the main reasons why the Avatar is stronger than any bender is due to there ability to strip people of their bending. Being a master blood bender becomes negligible if you have no more bending. The fact Amon can disable his father and use blood bending to take away his bending is exactly why Amon is stronger.
@@controlman7490 bro any bloodbending can do this if he learns how and also the avatar is no longer the only one who can do this not even the strongest Amon solo everyone except only spirts
MING-HUA supremacy! She is definitely the greatest waterbender in the entire series. I’m so glad you are able to see that. Her creativity and brutality is unmatched. She uses her entire body as a weapon, as an icy Swiss-army knife. Whether she’s a drill, a sea serpent, a scythe, or an eldritch sea abomination with thousands of tentacles, there is nothing she can’t do. Every other water bender manipulates water to their advantage, but Ming-Hua simply IS water. There’s a fan comic of Ming-Hua bloodbending Amon. In it, she brings him to his knees, glares down at him, and says, “The water may obey you, but it belongs to me.”
Loved your comment! Ming-Hua really is the Toph of waterbending! As you nicely put it, a waterbending swiss army-knife! Hope you enjoyed the vid, Subscribe
Good thing that you acknowledged Korra. She's a top tier waterbender with some of the best feats in the franchise but many people are unaware of that. Now, Ming-Hua over Korra, Katara and Unalaq is just straight up wrong tho.
Yes, a lot of people underrate Korra, because they like Aang more... Concerning the second part, I think using only waterbending Ming Hua would win pretty consistently versus Korra and Unalaq, don´t you think?
@@AllAboutAvatar. in terms of Battle Prowess, every one here would struggle against Ming Hua, even the blood benders to an extent. Though it is by natural consequence that benders are typically equipped with a fit physique as a result of their bending, Ming-Hua is like fusing the very tenets of waterbending -- adaptability and change (in both, the fluidity of her waterbending, and the use of water as a prosthetic to overcome her invalidity) -- and Ty Lee's agility and acrobacy, which I'm sure many ATLA fans sort of thank the creators in the background for not making her a bender. But now they realize this through Ming-Hua, which is why she is so formidable.
katara went from knowing next to nothing to being a master waterbender within the span of a year, including being a bloodbender, plant bender, and healer. that alone should put her in legendary tier.
@@user-kx3bj9co7j She was definitely not struggling against Kya. During their fight in their air temple, Kya was getting her ass kicked from left to right and Ming Hua was dominating her. Great video again, awesome to see someone rate Ming Hua as much as I do. A lot of ppl don't seem to understand how good she is. So aggressive, skillfull and mobile. Ppl just seem to overrate Fan favourites like Katara, Zuko e.t.c. I mean, some ppl even consider her the GOAT, even ahead of Amon which is unacceptable for me.When I imagine a fight with Katara and Ming hua, when I just think about her aggression and moblity, I feel at some point, Katara might not be able to handle her anymore. Though I don't think I agree with Korra being ahead of Katara. Tarlok, Amon and Yakone can bloodbend anyday anytime so no debate there. No matter how good you are at any bending, if you're not the avatar, you'd lose to a bloodbender
Katara should have been above Roku. She can both blood bend and healing. Plus aang definitely should have been bottom master he took to it incredibly quickly and mastered it
Hey bro, I think you misunderstand things. I rank them from how good they are in combat. At the beginning you can find an explanation of why I don't include bloodbending for Katara and Hama and healing is never used by Katara onherself in combat so it doesn't add up. Concerning Aang, I would have agreed with you prior to doing the research. But all the masters in the master tier do way more crazier bending than Aang. Korra's waterbending is truly masterful even without the avatar state. She has some astonishing waterbending feats! I think they gave bending a huge power up in LOK.
Katara can blood bend with the moon at the opposite side of the earth. When she stopped falling rain by making a dome, i dont think there was even a half moon in sight. And let's not forget that she's a child and as they grow, they grow with their bending abilities.

I feel like you're not giving Katara enough credit, given Azula was powered to insane levels by Sozin's Comet when Katara took her down, and using a technique that requires insanely good fine control to pull off.
Well, she did hold her ground against azula and zuko when 1v1 and saved aang from the dali. Isn't that impressive enough? And it was during book 2, which meant that she did all that within less than a year of mostly self taught. Not even aang or zuko was able to best azula during her peak. @poodie3887
@@sowhat1674 no it wasn’t impressive she had the advantage by having a huge body of water near by + the advantage of azula literally fighting with a puddle of water beneath them both
@@poodie3887 part of waterbending is to have water nearby, otherwise they wouldn't be able to bend. Firebender can just bend fire almost anytime. So I don't know how the fight supposed to go if there are no water. Plus at that time katara has only less than 1 year of waterbending knowledge.
I'd say Katara would beat Ming-Hua. She was struggling against Kya who is primarily a healer. Not to mention she was actually struggling against Kya for the most part of their fight. Then there's the fight with Mako, the first time when she won, and the second time with her losing. She was surrounded by a cave of water and still lost to Mako, and fair to him for using lightning bending, but it shows how little BIQ Ming-Hua truly has. Not to mention that Katara can blood bend unlike Ming-Hua, can heal, and defeated a grandmaster at the age of fourteen. Another problem is that Katara also beat Azula twice, once in the caves, and the other with Zuko, whilst Azula was amped. @@AllAboutAvatar. forgot to subscribe, did it now ;) waiting more Korra related content btw Also would love to see a theory about bending and it's relationship with genetics and spirits. It's related to spirits but family relationship is important. Imo why bolin is able to lavabend is probably his mother was from fire nation same as ghazan i think he was from one of the fire nation subcities located in earth kingdom and remember azula being a prodigy was related to her grandparents being relative to avatar or was Roku their grandfather not sure but being linked with spiritual power enchances ones bending since moon was enhancing waterbenders and great comet boosting firebenders are Alike. Also in Korra the way she was so powerful and got her bendings so early at age(that was unusual most avatars got their ability way later in their life) was probably because of 10.000 years cycle and spirit portals so she was boosted with spiritual energy and harmonic convergence. We should focus more on this and the lore. I think karara being prodigy was linked with her nation getting wiped out so she was kinda like a beacon was power and vacuuming the spiritual energy because of that. Also we can say almost all(maybe all?) Of Air nation were benders because of their spiritual knowledge and connection. The more they connected stronger they were just like iroh. So some explaining and connecting dots would be nice. Most of the things i said are speculations but makes sense to me and would be nice to have some lore like this. The fact there is less earthbender ratio can be linked with their overpopulation so less energy per person. Another long comment for you haha. See you in your next video
Let's stick with the elements and do air next, then finish strong with the non-benders. It'll be fun seeing Bumi II make both lists--the only non-avatar to be featured on more than one list (unless Zaheer is included in the "not enough info" tier).
I think Ming Hua is a bit high? She's definitely an amazing water bender but I think her placement is heavily reliant on her combat skills rather than pure water bending. I know that the ranking heavily focuses on that but there's people in the Grandmaster tier who has both Combat and skills and Proficient Water Bending skills that are ranked lower than her. I also don't think Roku shouldn't even be ranked. You've disclosed already that if a person is not seen much in combat then they shouldn't be ranked, and i believe Roku fits that case.
Ming hua was very powerful tho able to easily finish off eska and desna and also able to finish off mako and bolin without effort, she is just very powerful, she even outclassed kya, she was only killed because of her lack of understanding of her opponents techniques which was mako using lightning bending to kill her
@@adeniyimarvellous8259 and I took all those into account. I believe that Ming Hua is an excellent water bender but I don't think she's quite enough to beat down the ones in the Grandmaster tier. Her way of Waterbending is unorthodox, and while this does give her a certified way of combat, she's limited to the performance of that style alone. Ming Hua never really showcased water bending outside of her tentacle-like arms
@@jayjade6003 Ming Hua can beat pakku and Korra (if korra is restricted to water bending and no avatar state) Could very debatably beat katara if she doesn’t use blood bending as well She belongs in grand master tier, but no lower than that
@@kingmac6638 I agree with that. I'd give a win to Ming Hua against Pakku. Unsure about Korra and Katara. Korra will definitely tap in into the avatar state (regardless if we restrict her of it) and Katara's only chance of winning is if she gets creative (which she can)
Seeing Katara at number 9 was incredibly weird, but thats actually a pretty accurate placement. She could be 1 spot higher at most. What i really disagree with is Roku's position. Putting him that high cuz of just 1 scene is unfair i think. He should be placed at high master-low GM tier or not placed at all due to lack of feats. Rest of the list seems good to me
I think Kya would have been incredibly strong in her prime. She managed to do all that when she's in her late 50's/early60's(?) so imagine when she was in her 20's at her peak strength and agility
In my opinion, the difficulty in ranking any kind of benders against each other is that there are too many variables and too little information... For example, they are mostly different ages and became masters at different points in life. In ATLA, we see teenage Katara, a recent master, while in TLOK we see adult Amon, who had become a master a while before. There are subjective variables as well - some believe Katara only resisted bloodbending because Hama wasn't that strong, or because of the full moon. But there's no proof that whe *can't* resist it in other instances. So... There are valid arguments to place benders higher or lower in tier lists, depending on what you believe!
I think it’s a mistake to not include healing for your consideration. Healing is known to be a skill only some can learn and is a sign of one’s mastery of waterbending. Katara is also one of the most powerful healers and kinda gets shafted by its lack of involvement. Also katara beat sozins comet azula, your 3rd strongest fire bender
She did that with a trick. Doesn't mean Katara is better than Azula. If one bender is objectively stronger than another, than that doesn't mean the worse bender can't win. If Azula and Katara would fight, I'd say it would be around 30 wins for Katara and 70 wins for Azula.
@@AllAboutAvatar. she beat Azula with her waterbending skill when azula had a huge power amplification, how is that a "Trick", she's a waterbender so she's gonna waterbend, and she also beat Azula in the catacombs by overpowering her and that was even before her book 3 upgrade, and she just has better feats all around , this is a very biased statement.
@AllAboutAvatar no she would body ming Hua because ming is incredibly limited to her arm and she struggled against kya who is not a fighter but just a healer and she lost to mako and korra literally has some of the best water bending feat ever
I do love your reasoning for the Amon vs tanrok debate and I think I agree with you. The one thing I would change would be kataras placement. Going off of where she finished in the show proper I would’ve put her just below Ming Hua. Loved the video ❤
I don't think Aang's waterbending skills are highly overrated. In fact, I usually see people saying his waterbending are mediocre (which is true in the animated series).
Interesting, I usually hear people say. Aang easily mastered airbending and waterbending while his earth- and fire- bending were a bit lacking. I very much believed that too. Unfortunately, I think Aang´s waterbending belongs to the latter category...
@@AllAboutAvatar. it's widely acknowledged that Katara's waterbending exceeds that of Aang's. Even the official Avatar RUclips channel portray it so. In the end of Book 3, both Katara and Toph stated that Aang needs more training both in Earth and Water bending. I don't really know those people who stated that Aang has superior waterbending but what he's shown is not a testimony to the known glory of his skills
I’m usually very protective over Kataras placements during ranking videos or comparisons just because of how biased I am of her. So I usually get a little defensive when I see her lower in tier lists just because I’ve always considered her the strongest water bender ever. But I’ve recently had to consciously tell myself, by the end of the ATLA series she was 14! She was 14 and with just her 14 year old feats she’s placed up really high in tiers. May not be the highest, but still really high. I’m very curious to see how her rankings will change now that we’ve basically had confirmation about upcoming future Aang gang content. She was an absolute menace when she was 14, curious to see how much she progresses into her late teen early 20’s.
Yakone blood blended an entire court including the avatar using his mind during the day. Sometimes you have to remove favouritism to see the truth. I don’t like the guy but it is what it is
So the fact that Korra only got Away was that Amon was electrecuted by Mako and still bend isn't in the race? Any how, Amon never had the need will or reason to use blood bending on so many ppl
You didn't mention healing or spirit bending. I believe that hama and katara should be higher up, hama invented blood bending, and managed to drain flowers for water. Katara was as incredible bender and we see a glimpse of what she can actually do when she is enraged and hunting down the fire nation (creating localized rain? really?) don't think Roku deserve such high positions just because he controlled a big body of water, as far as I know others could as well, not like that situation even called for it. Katara also grew a lot during the season's so one can only imagine just how powerfull she would become
Have we considered that blood bending apptituide is more complex than just power/skill issue? Like its fully possible there's just a mental component or genetic predispostion that makes it easier.
Katara > Ming-Hua Ming-Hua might have been agressive but we have seen Katara just straight up win through sheer bending strength difference, especially in the fight against Hama. Katara was also specifically called out as a generational talent, so I dont understand how she could be placed below so many others.
Idk I think Katara would have a run for her money hahaha. If it was a first confrontation, Ming Hua would clear, but in a third or fourth encounter, I think Katara could gain the upper hand
I think that at the moment we see Katara in series it's quite fair. She is 14, with just a few months of an actual training. She might have been even better bender in her adulthood, but we don't see it becouse of the time skip. Ming Hua is shown as an adult woman with years of practise. So while Ming Hua would win, we never really see Katara at her prime. She is either a teenager, or an old woman.
I dont think Kataras prime has to be as an adult. Toph for example is in her prime as a child. Also, Katara learned bloodbending within MINUTES while everyone else needed many days over many months to learn it. She is exceptionally talented and skilled to the point where she 1v1ed Azula twice in the show. Ming Huas character design is great and she makes up for her disability in a very cool way, but her "arms" are just a weak point against another waterbender. She constantly has to focus on not losing control over them. If she only slips up slightly once, gives an opponent one opening, her "arms" are her own demise. Last but not least, Katara is skilled enough after a few weeks of training that Pakku not only tells her shes the student that progressed the fastest under him, but he considers her a waterbending master. This guy taught generations of waterbenders and was good enough to help take over Ba Sing Se vs an army of firebenders who were buffed by Sozins comet.
The fact that so many people overlook kya annoys me. She easily held her own and kicked the ass of Zaheer AND Ming Hua for a GOOD minute. She uses techniques similar to Katara but also very unique to her own self. Shes quick, agile, and super powerful. The fact that she’s lower than tonraq just goes to show that ATLA fandom members easily get carried away when they’re shown benders of unique style. Just because you get up close and personal when you fight doesn’t mean you could take down KYA.
Just because Katara was not a bad girl and did not do much of the destructive waterbending and/or bloodbending (of which she refused voluntarily) does not make her any worse than ming hua, or even full time bloodbenders. She would have learnt how to be a full time waterbender if she wanted to. Besides, I do not think she would have any problem resisting any of the full time bloodbenders. Plus its simply a shame to put Katara below Korra or even Roku. Katara's definitely the best
Катара хуже всех в высшем ранге,намного слабее корры,значительно уступает новому поколению в лице Минг Хуа. Единственные из легенды о корре,кого она теоретически могла победить-эска и десна. И то поодиночке
@@Themightystar5000 Amon never met Katara. Katara was not on the trial when his father was being judged. I have seen the scene at least a thouthand times
I would really like if they expanded on Yakone’s rise to the top of his criminal empire. Bear in mind: he was strong enough to bloodbend a room full of people, including Toph (which at that point had control over her body chakra -yes, that’s a thing in Avatar) and ADULT AANG (which, undoubtedly, had 100% control over his chakra, possibly enabling him to resist any kind of “common” bloodbending). Yeah, besides the Avatar, Yakone’s the most powerful bender of all time.
OK, I get that katara has no strategy sometimes and just runs for her opponent sometimes, but we have been shown over and over again just how creative she is and how much potential she has. She has such underrated power like she literally made a wave that was high enough to reach the top of a giant factory and I know that it was at night but it was not a full moon that night. I think that katara, ming hua and unalaq should be at legendary tier on equal footing
@@CellRus I agree with all things u said besides the katara being legendary part, cuz look at the legendary tear they are some realy heavy hitters, I mean just imagine amon vs katara, if avatar was not a kids show amon would be the most ruthless monster to have ever exist he would just look at his enemies and their neck would nap or their heart explode fight over, do u really think katara can stand against amon or any other legendary guy.
@@alimurtaza6318 blood benders are on another level but her and ming hua would be a legendary fight and katara does deserve to be in legendary for mastering water bending in such a young age and such a short time to
I agree with this list for the most part. with the exception of Katara and Pakku. they should be in legendary. Katara has just beaten so many top tier benders in 1v1 combat. Pakku is the one who taught Katara and is just so fluid with his bending and seemed to out skill all his opponents everytime they showed him in combat. a true waterbending master.
FEw things.. Ming Hua - deserves her place, infact she would probably beat the blood benders too since she can water bend WITHOUT MOVING, which is insane, so even if you blood bend her in place she's just going to put an icicle through your face while you focus on that.. she was definitly the best of the best, but I can see valid reason for blood benders being higher because of how easy they domiante other people. Just saying, even blood bending dosen't mean you'd beat her. Hama - Deserves to be higher.. You can't really ignore her blood bending, yes it's only on a full moon, but she was so technically skilled with it, every other blood bender just used it as a raw power, Hama used it to literally puppet Ang and Sokka into fighting against Katara for her while still using her own water bending to defend agaisnt Katara at the same time. But.. even ignoring that, Hama was still insane, she's the only water bender we have EVER seen who could pull water out of air. Honestly she's atleast on Paku's level and should be above Katara. There was also the absoloutly horrific implication made with the fire lilys, where she tore the water out of them and they died, Katara was sad over the loss but Hama didn't care, before explaining you can do the same thing with other sources of water (like people!). It was heavilly implied that Hama can (And did) tear the blood out of peoples bodies to kill them. Obviously that was never going to be showen in a kids show but it was implied! Katara - Honestly, spot on placment, she is very strong and very skilled, and up there with the best, but she isn't the best, everyone you listed above her deserves to be above her. No argument. Tonraq and Kya - These two deserve more cridit, they were both amazing benders, they jsut unfortunatly only ever were showen fighting against people that were in the god tier, so obviously lost.
@@altaccaltacc7652 I feel like that's kinda cheating, she isn't actually a waterbender, she just gave ehr soul to become the spirit of the thing that powers waterbenders.. it's kinda wierd.. and confusing.. but she dosen't actually do any water bending.
I agree Katara is grand master. But high grand master. She was only bending for at most 4 months, mastered water bending proved impervious to some blood bending, even if it was a full moon. She would still only become stronger and more resilient. And just the sheer volume of water she could bend at such an early point. Along with the established greatest healer of possibly all time. She is never over rated
umm u forgot how big of a wave roku made? katara has never made such a big wave which travels so far and all people above katar are too strong so she is placed fairly
@@alimurtaza6318 LMAO roku was already an adult at the time He spent years learning Katara at age 14 could SINGLEHANDEDLY depart the sea in serpent's episode Do you even know the power it takes to depart the sea and Walk a bunch of people on the ocean floor inside the high pressure deep 💀😂 We've to agree KATARA's the most powerful WATERBENDER outside the avatar state
Since we’ve never seen her at her peak there’s an argument she could be there but from what we have seen, everyone above her just has more feats. She could maybe edge out Pakku, Korra is a toss up since Korra is a damn powerful water bender (it being her native element and all) but Katara was never shown to do feats like Korra with water or over Roku and Unalaq. As for legendary tier, imo she doesn’t even touch Ming Hua, like he said it’s similar to why Toph is so good as an earth bender, it’s not just bending for her it’s even more a part of her and is way more fluid than any other water bender. And yeah the bloodbending family is obviously on top, despite people claiming it - Katara has NEVER blood bendeded when it wasn’t a full moon, she needs it, they don’t so they have the edge.
@@karma916katara has shown to do feats with water like korra. Look at the painted lady episode, she pulled water from the bottom of a cliff and lifted it all the way up the factory without even seeing it. She was bending massive waves in broad daylight on episode 1 of season 3, also creating smoke screens that cover entire canyons and fire navy ships (painted lady episode and The Awakening) also in the comics against a Gigantic spirit named general old Iron her waterbending was able to reach all the way to the top of him and he’s comparable in size to the giant mech
@@andremcreynolds1079 So a couple things. 1) Katara pulling from a major water source isn’t all that impressive since water benders are just stronger when they have more water sources around. It’s why she carrie’s around a pouch of water sometimes and why in the episode where she was captured along with Toph by Sparky Sparky boom boom she was using her sweat to bend since there was nothing else. But, if nothing else it shows that she can control such a large amount of water compared to at the start of the series where she did it accidentally. 2) Yeah her feats you mention are impressive, but the point is Korra does more similar feats a lot more frequently. Korra’s water typhoon move that she does a lot already shows a frequency that Katara doesn’t show. Like I’d back Katara being the one with more technical feats, but raw power wise I have to back Korra. 3) General old iron was a large spirit but he was not the size of Kuvira’s mech. Kuvira’s mech was massive and towering over the skyscrapers of the city and not to mention literal hills/mountains in the background in one of the first shots featuring it. The general in contrast, while large was nowhere near as huge. He towered over a city that was way less developed and urbanized so only had smaller buildings. In one panel of the comic when he emerged from the water, people on the ground are basically up to his shins. The mech in contrast made a literal army beside it look like ants.
@@karma916just abt that general old iron one she was actually able to block one of his hits with an ice wall whi h is impressive in terms of defensive ablities.
when you do airbenders remember that gyatso had statues of him built in other air temples before he died. he likely pulled off a zaheer air suffocation move on an entire platoon of firebenders. great lists so far
The cactus from atla is god tier. We don’t see much from it but by simply getting sokka to drink a bit of water, it was able to basically entirely nullify him. It made one of the best strategists go crazy so imagine what it would do to someone who didn’t have as strong of a mind
Katara is easily legendary. Although we haven't seen it yet, her in her prime would have been amazing considering how everyone talks about her. She is a master healer too (which is a great skill) who brought Aang back from the dead and kept Korra alive even with the poison still inside her.
im slightly confused about the statement of not ranking wan because he is using the avatar state. i though the avatar state was calling on all the past incarnations of the avatar to help so wan would have no one to call apon, is that wrong or is it some different powerup for wan sence he was the first avatar?
I have to disagree about not taking Hama and Katara's bloodbending into account as in ATLA the moon cycle is just full moon, full moon, full moon, Yue tries something new, full moon. As Overanalysed pointed out, it's almost always a full moon lol

Hello, is there a way to talk to you about something ? Do you have a mail, maybe ? I would like to translate your video.
aang is way better than that!!!!

He's not counting out of combat feats, or else he would also count Amon being able to take away peoples bending.
@@cloudzvibes4177Katara is known as the best healer in the world in both shows
I think they even call katara the best healer in the world in ledgend of korra.
She has the aggression of a fire
bender and the mobility of an airbender, but with the adaptability of a waterbender. She was so formidable.
Damn, 100% agreed!! (loved your comment)
impact of having azulas VA
She is the Dai Li of waterbenders. She is agile, aggressive and lethal.
Ming Hua, actually thoroughly terrifying. Like, freaking water spidermonkey of death flying at your from literally anywhere.
Ming hua
In her prime she would've been formidable
@@luis_zuniga I agree she’s a pioneer and a prodigy
@@luis_zuniga exactly, comparing people from whats just seen rather than everyone in their prime isn't going to be the most accurate representation of characters strengths and weaknesses. LIke comparing Kya with others.
Thank you for this comment. People really sleep on her it's insane
I also think she's too low, but because she's been actually learning for 3-4 months just like Aang. Whatever she practiced before she met Aang was just done blindly, and she gets really good. I think that considering she should be above Pakku at least.
Thank-you!!! 👊👊✊✊👏👏👏 She's easily Legendary.
To be fair to Aang in this regard too
He was a (1)12 year old Airbending Master when he woke up, the series spanned over not much more than a year
Waterbending would have been the only bending style he'd have to carry resources with him for while Katara did already
He was used to his Element (Air) being everywhere, when he learned Earth and Fire they followed him too, water he has to bring
so it makes sense he uses water bending less as an Air Nomad Avatar

@@AllAboutAvatar. Katara should have been like mid-top grandmaster Tier tbh
@@lemonthepogboi5351wtf? Katara should be top tier: her bending range, talent, and knowledge were unmatched even as a kid

Now, Ming-Hua over Korra, Katara and Unalaq is just straight up wrong tho.

Ming-hua literally moved like water. She was amazing

Great video again, awesome to see someone rate Ming Hua as much as I do. A lot of ppl don't seem to understand how good she is. So aggressive, skillfull and mobile. Ppl just seem to overrate Fan favourites like Katara, Zuko e.t.c. Katara is really good, I mean really really good buh bcuz she's part of the main characters and loved by so many ppl, they overrate her a little bit(I know she's sometimes underrated, that's why I said "a bit"), same with Zuko.

Katara's not the strongest, but she's easily beating Ming-Hua, the only people she can't are the blood-bending family (Yakone etc)

Also would love to see a theory about bending and it's relationship with genetics and spirits.

@@jayjade6003 Ming Hua can beat pakku and Korra (if korra is restricted to water bending and no avatar state)

I have to say by far this is the most fair list I've ever seen

Have we considered that blood bending apptituide is more complex than just power/skill issue? Like its fully possible there's just a mental component or genetic predispostion that makes it easier.
Katara > Ming-Hua
Ming-Hua might have been agressive but we have seen Katara just straight up win through sheer bending strength difference, especially in the fight against Hama.
Sorry but Ming hua would end katara 💀 she's way faster a lot more ferocious
@@thehunt895 Ming Huas speed doesnt matter. Katara bends her arms once, Ming Hua falls.

Just because Katara was not a bad girl and did not do much of the destructive waterbending and/or bloodbending (of which she refused voluntarily) does not make her any worse than ming hua, or even full time bloodbenders.
Don't forget yue. Without her these people could never waterbend while she can. Because she is the water.

@@juliankanzuki2013 well she does waterbend with aang in season 3 when aang loses hope
Cant wait for you airbender tier list. Your lists have been pretty fun and entertaining to watch. Would you be able to do a non bender tier list too?
I would say Korra>Roku, but anything else makes sense. I hope u will make a nonbender tier list
I will, bro!
@@alimurtaza6318
LMAO roku was already an adult at the time
He spent years learning
Katara at age 14 could SINGLEHANDEDLY depart the sea in serpent's episode
Do you even know the power it takes to depart the sea and Walk a bunch of people on the ocean floor inside the high pressure deep 💀😂
We've to agree KATARA's the most powerful WATERBENDER outside the avatar state
I feel like katara should have been top of grndmaster or even legendary really
W
Hopefully you were right and this game is good. Lol and I am now subscribed because I love this video
The cactus from atla is god tier. We don’t see much from it but by simply getting sokka to drink a bit of water, it was able to basically entirely nullify him. It made one of the best strategists go crazy so imagine what it would do to someone who didn’t have as strong of a mind
I’m surprised how much i agree about aang with you in all the tier lists.. let’s see if you get him right in the next vid 🤔👌
How is Amon below his father
Nice vid keep up the good work 👍 u got a sub
Yakone and family were so powerful, they couldn't be beaten except by the plot.
Not wet enough is quiet sus
Fun fact about MIn Hua is that she was supposed to be a Blood-bender first
nice they changed that, otherwise they would destroy waterbending in some way directing its power only into blood bending
I have to disagree about not taking Hama and Katara's bloodbending into account as in ATLA the moon cycle is just full moon, full moon, full moon, Yue tries something new, full moon. As Overanalysed pointed out, it's almost always a full moon lol
