i just wanna let you know that you helped me with my double stroke finger technique with your video that said "'TRY THIS''. im now 220 bpm fast. cant xplain how grateful, i am. imma try this as well
Hi Steve, I think you should develop both, but that being said, I personally never used heel toe as it seems I lose all the control and also is more difficult to switch to heel-toe from the default position while playing. Try this one for a few weeks and see if there's improvement. At the very least you will see if you have any balance issues. Cheers.
Thank you for this video. Your talent is very admirable 🙏 I have a question that I hope you can help me with. When I slide on the pedal, I can’t help but lift my foot for the second stroke and there’s the sound of my shoe tapping on the pedal (because my foot leaves the pedal). How do I avoid this?
Maybe try this: First hit slide back and down, second hit slide forward and down. Get those two in balance first, as you make it faster and faster both motions should morph into one general slide forward with two taps, the second being the main hit
@@DrumApe thank you so much. I tried that today. And sort of got the hang of it although I’m still very far from where I want it to be at. But ure a great teacher. Thank you so much 🙏
It will get better with time for sure just keep at it. If you’re struggling with something else on the drums maybe share it here and I can think of some other topics to discuss and try to help further. Cheers
You can drive the beater harder as you add bigger muscles all the while having the benefit of using the ankle. As you get faster the beater bounces twice just like double stroke roll.
Hi Frank Sinatra, yes it’s possible I guess. Personally I sit so my hip is a bit higher than my knee. That way when I lift my leg (heel up) my thigh is actually leveled. You could try this and see how it works. Either way your legs might get tired at first but you should get used to it. Good luck
I mean, if not to bury the beater, i have to lift my leg constantly and it’s get tired after 2 minutes of playing. I can feel huge stress in my leg and I can’t understand what is wrong
Actually try to bury the beater after each double hit. This will allow the weight to be transferred into the drum and your leg to rest for a split second. Should help a bit, but like I said it’s hard at first bu should get used to it in time. Hope I understand you correctly though and you only get tired without any pain, because pain would be a sign something is indeed wrong.
@@DrumApe thank you, but I understood why my leg got tired so soon, I sat too close to the edge of the seat)). Now is everything cleared up. Thank you for your help and video, really great (Sorry for my English not my native language)
Thank you for sharing this information!
For real, I was looking for such a video my entire life! Love it!
Awesome! No better time than right now.
This is the best video on bass drum technique I have ever seen. Bravo!!
Thanks this is a nice compliment!
Great video. Thanks for the clear explanation.

Great video thank you very much😊
Great video thank you very much😊
Thank you so much man. i play heel up and looks like this will be my perfect foot technique because i dont like the heel-toe technique.
Nice! Never really had to use heel-toe. Seems very brute and forced and doesn’t really have any benefits for most styles of music.
agreed!!@@DrumApe
Superb
Is this called the ankle technique? If it is should I pick between heel-toe and the ankle technique to specialise in?

Excellent instruction. How I wish I can do that. Please help. Thanks
Hi Edwin, I guess anybody can do that with enough practice. Don't rush it, just give it time and attention. Let me know how I can help.
What's the point of the slide? How is that different from hitting the pedal in the same spot on the pedal twice?
You can drive the beater harder as you add bigger muscles all the while having the benefit of using the ankle. As you get faster the beater bounces twice just like double stroke roll.
Como voce deixar a coxa levantada sem sentir dor ou forçar?
Alias excelente video, um olá do brasil pra vc 🎉😊
Why should you practice heel down to improve your singles?
It’s like practicing playing with the wrists, it frees you up
What about spring tension for this technique?
I’ve always used moderate tension, I kind of like my pedal somewhat light but use amplitude to gain force when I need it.
The toe must touch the ground after the firsi stroke !
Not sure how the toe can touch the ground but let me know how it works out. 🥁
When I lift my leg, I get tired for a while, lifting leg is a big energy waste, do I sit too low maybe?
