I also travel with di2 and take the rear derailleur off, however since you have a quick link on your chain, it's super easy to just open the chain, too and simply pack the rear derailleur and the chain into your suitcase. That way there's no need to tape things to the frame and use the newspaper. It's the easiest way for me.
The system you've used is very safe and effective, but would cost a fortune as the box is far too wide and a bit too long. If I were to ship my box in the US with any shipping service like this, it would be considered oversize, and probably a little heavy with all that thick foam. I did like the brake tips and ingenuity!
In Europe you’ll have to pay for a bike with most airlines and an oversized box does not matter. Land shipping in Europe to another country is more expensive.
