What a great video, they really were great locos the 33s. I was born in North Kent so I kinda got used to them but they really were great . Dependable , strong and quite handsome apart for that 'Slab' front . Dunno about 008 with that heavy train and having to haul 2 class 37s too. I'd say that was tearing the arse out of it, Handled it fine though didn't it !!!.

Nice upscaling done as usual the late great Barry Evans seen on 33118/102 arriving at Salisbury, I was on 33114/102 seen at West Hatch with the DC tours headboard as well as a couple of others but not bellowing.

I didn’t like the head code window I thought the class 26&27’s looked a lot better, the sound of the 33 Sulzer engine was fantastic, like a tiger’s throaty clicking, of some demon on a washboard inside the engine room

I now realise why we had to put up with bars on the door windows after seeing those pillocks with their upper bodies hanging out of them ! What on earth was the attraction? Didn't exactly help the reputation of the genuine enthusiasts.

Yes but it was fun. Life is short on fun now. I am glad I lived and enjoyed those times even though I was a pillows ! 😂

It was always done in those days. In those days there wasn't the "Ban everything! It's not saaaafffe!!!!" hysteria that characterises the present day. They didn't even have hi vis vested members of the Gestapo to physically manhandle you should you attempt to venture near a droplight, would you believe. Shocking. 🥺

@@AndreiTupolev can you not see the link between the idiocy of those days (fun though it may have been) , and the implimentation of "safety" measures?
