After you you remove the pore strip, use a skin care routine of salicylic acid to prevent sebaceous filaments and blackheads from forming again. Also, a pore minimizing treatment and always moisturize! The salicylic acid will prevent the sebaceous filaments from coming back / blackheads and the pore minimizing treatment will shrink the pores to prevent any dead skin cell / bacteria from filling the pores again.

@@beyza4351I’ve heard this too but I think when the term ‘shrinking pores’ is used, it’s more about looking bigger or smaller. When a pore is filled with dead skin cells, bacteria, and whatnot, it appears bigger than it would if it were empty/less full.
Like a plastic bag. If you’re used to seeing it filled with water, it’ll look like it shrunk when it’s empty.

I've been using pore strips since before pore strips were invented. Back about 45 years ago my brother pranked me and I ended up accidentally sticking a piece of fly paper to my face. It took some time to pry it loose from my fact but as I did this huge dark limp pulled out of my skin with it. I thought I had injured myself and I had a hole where that lump used to be. My parents took me to the doctor after that thinking the same thing and it turned out that the fly paper had secured itself to an old dried out cyst. It was about six mm across and almost black and I never even noticed it on my cheek. But what came out of my nose shocked me. Hundreds or perhaps thousands of little black and white (some black and some white) filaments (I didn't know at the time what they were called) I think that was maybe late 1970's. I was in my late teens at the time and still in high school. I have no idea when pore strips first hit the market but I think I saw them first about 20 years ago and thought to my self that someone stole my fly paper idea. Because I used fly paper for this about six times a year for over 20 years.

I’ve seen friends over the years complain it doesn’t work after using gentle cleanser or just water, or astringent lol. Of course it won’t do anything with an oily nose and a lot of drug store brands aren’t great. Lanbena has been my favorite by far.
    -
Pore strips work way better if you use something to get as much oil off the area as possible.
    -
I oil cleanse first to loosen up what I can, then use a wash that’ll strip the oil, use the strip, and then just moisturize after.

Oil cleanse sounds like a good idea. I keep on hand jojoba, argan, and tea tree oils, mixing them with fresh aloe vera as a hair gel and on the dry spots and exema I get in places. I smeared my nose with it with a little salicylic acid, a couple of weeks ago and left it there a couple of hours, then cleaned it with ordinary Dr Bronner's soap. I didn't expect it to do anything, but it helped. I know that many cultural traditions teach oil cleansing for healthy skin, so why don't I try it. I have to minimize my use of salicylic acid, though. I had bloody red spots on my nose for a week after that treatment. I may have to track down some of that Lanbena. How's the fragrance? Some of the products I've started to use smell so strongly that I couldn't apply it. I'm the proverbial canary in the coal mine for synthetic ingredients, and sensitive or allergic to quite a few natural fragrances. It's so much fun exploring hygiene and skin care products.

No one said from a cosmetic perspective that they don't work. The problem comes with the MEDICAL perspective. Those aren't white heads you are getting rid of. THEY CAN DAMAGE YOUR SKIN. Even worse they leave your nose open to SERIOUS potentially FATAL infections. That area is called the traiangle of death for a reason. Those are NOT whiteheads coming out. A couple might be. But the rest is your SEBUM. The stuff your nose NEEDS to protect the nose which has areas that lead directly to the brain from serious infection. Thats the entire point of sebum. and you are ripping them out for the sake of comsemetics.
Do not reset any narrative. DO NOT USE PORE STRIPS. PERIOD. Exfoliate. Do not go further.
When he says sebacious filaments. He means SEBUM. Thats not a white head. AGAIN. NOT A WHITE HEAD. Sebum is an ESSENTIAL product of your immune system. Just like ear wax is for your ear. Just like ear wax its okay to remove excess ear wax thats coming out of your ear but you shouldn't put the q-tips all the way in. This pore strip is that Q tip on steroids. People have gained flesh eating bacteria from using these folks. They have lost noses, they have incurred BRAIN INFECTIONS.
    '
    DO. NOT. USE.
All you need to be doing is exfoliating and you wont be seeing the top layers yes you might need to be exfoliating regularly to keep the dry heads of the sebum off. WHILE LEAVING THE EFFING LIFE SAVING SEBUM IN. Also getting rid of those hairs is just as dangerous. They are there to catch pathogens as well. Thats why this crap stopped getting to kids and teens for a long time. It was putting them in the effing hospital.. Sigh.

@@marcelabrenes8771 Its not exaggerated in the slightest. You can get extremely bad infections. The sebum is there for a very good reason. It isn't there to be constantly removed. I have had 2 family members develop serious infections doing this crap.
The pore strips can and do remove your sebaceous filaments which permits bacteria's to enter where they absolutely should not be. It leads to acne at best. Serious infections at worst.

Popping and squeezing spots is FAR more dangerous in that zone than using a pore strip and even then the number of ppl it happens to is tiny! Sebum being removed isn't going to allow infection into the bloodstream. Picking at a spot can though with nails, needles etc because the sin is being broken.
Picking your nose can kill you too but we don't get PSA announcements about not picking your nose.
      A little perspective is important.

      ### Analysis:
The commentary claims that using pore strips can remove sebum, which is an essential part of the skin's immune defense, potentially leading to serious infections, including flesh-eating bacteria and brain infections.
      **Fact-Check:**
      1. **Sebum and Sebaceous Filaments:**
      - Sebum is a natural oil produced by sebaceous glands and plays a role in protecting and lubricating the skin.
      - Sebaceous filaments are structures that help channel sebum through the pores. Removing some sebum and filaments is generally not harmful, but overuse can irritate the skin.
      2. **Infection Risks:**
      - The "triangle of death" refers to the area from the corners of the mouth to the bridge of the nose, where infections can potentially spread to the brain due to blood vessel connections.
      - While pore strips themselves are unlikely to cause such severe infections, improper use (e.g., on broken skin) or failure to maintain proper hygiene could theoretically increase infection risk.
      3. **Medical Perspective:**
      - There are rare reports of severe infections from improper skincare practices, but these are not common. The vast majority of people using pore strips do not experience severe adverse effects.
      **Conclusion:**
The claims in the commentary are highly exaggerated. While there is some basis in cautioning against overuse and improper use of pore strips, the extreme outcomes mentioned are not typical. It is advisable to use pore strips as directed and consult with a dermatologist if you have concerns.

They didn't make anything like this when I was a teen and my nose was like a Play-Doh Fun Factory. During my 30s the Dove company came out with a strip, I tried it and it didn't work, pulled out maybe 2 or 3 plugs, I could do way better with my fingers. During my 40s my skin dried up, now in my 60s there is nothing on my nose at all, pores are all tiny and invisible like they're supposed to be. My ears dried up too. They literally make no wax at all now, and sometimes me ear canals get real itchy, the itch will feel like it goes all the way into to my throat. The ear itch will wake me from sleep, I even had the itch come thru into my dream, lol. I have to put a dab of cortisone ointment in them or the itch will drive me insane.

@@m.bird. It proves nothing really. Just one individual's anecdotal experience. My teen acne was not severe. If you're implying that hygiene has absolutely no part in acne, I can tell you that when I let my skin get dirty my moderate acne always got worse. Of course we know that the root cause of severe acne is due to hormones, not from poor hygiene, and expecting average active people to wash their faces multiple times per day every single day just isn't practical. The extra washing might help but it won't make the acne go away.

Then, without wiping anything other than the oil on the top of the skin, layer the poor strips on the skin. After a while then peel. I feel like this is a good way of using them in my experience.
