Agree the previous Gen was the real thing. Wish they could bring out this one as a totally new model name if possible. All heritage gone now

FWD architecture is the base model.
The top of the line model is XDrive or AWD.
This is what Mitsubishi did in the 90s to make their front wheel drive AWD. Think Eclipse, Talon, Laser.
Besides the 1 series is meant to be a very entry level BMW.
I assume most enthusiasts will go for a 3 series or above and real luxury starting at a 5 series or higher.
Really nice, I wish to see the X3 m40i on this series. A landscape video orientation would have been even better.

As an owner of previous gen BMW 1er (2018): New dashboard - yes, new exterior look - yes, new grill pattern - yes, FWD - whyyyyyy? Designed a new traction control system to overcome understeer of newly-introduced FWD - wait, what? Seriously, are you just cutting the production costs? We know you can do much better, guys. Now I’m looking at 3er as my next car. Was it a design goal for 1er? ;)

I trade my 530i G30 2017 for VW Golf R mk7.5 2019 because my local BMW service was a joke. Also there was so much plastic rattling on the dash (main screen). Not in the Golf. I really liked the 5 series but all together was too much for me.
I love BMW, but in my country it is very expensive.😭😭😭

I'm a proud owner of a BMW 118d E87. I was looking for e new BMW 1 series, because I was very content with the car.
But I would rather buy a Dacia Duster than this "car".
I'm owner of E81, is beautiful. F20/21 are nice.
"what are the advantages of the front wheel drive" ? "Well you have less weight and more space" : THIS IS NOT THE REASONS YOU BUY A HIGH PERFORMANCE BMW. The M140i is faster and more fun in all areas , you buy a HIGH PERFORMANCE BMW for the driving experience not for space and other tech services, with this composure a Golf R will do better , better interior and their Rev counter experience is not going in a triangle.

Es ist und bleibt ein überteuerter MINI Countryman. Das Design ist mir mittlerweile schon egal. / It is and remains an overpriced MINI Countryman. I don't care about the design anymore.
Shame they ruined the 1 series. At least the new 3 series still looks great!!
