This Man’s Village Butter Idli & Chutney Put PANDAVAPURA On The Map! SHIVAPPA IDLI Home, Darsaguppe

shivappa benne idli, darsaguppe, near srirangapatna, village food, pandavapura, pandavapura idli, popular idli stop off mysore, mysuru, highway, village tradition, butter idli, chutney, putani chutney, mandya district, bangalore mysore highway, melukote, shivappa idli hotel, shivappa idli, hotel shivappa idli
Pandavapura, located on the state highway between Srirangapatna and Melukote in Mandya district of Karnataka, would perhaps not have registered as a breakfast stop on the traveller’s map, but for an idli shop that goes back over three decades. Actually, it isn’t even a shop, but a window in 60-something-year-old Shivappa’s home from where he dispenses freshly steamed idlis (only) with home churned butter for a few hours each morning. Travellers on the route, and even those who journey from afar just to eat here, line up outside the window, even before it is flung open at 7am.
Shivappa’s enterprise bears no signboard and he employs no one, preferring to do everything himself, from preparing the chutney and the butter to the soaking and grinding of the grain, the fermentation and steaming of the idlis, helped only by his wife. When you are here, you need to abide by his “seemingly authoritarian” rules - register your order, collect a token in exchange for your payment, and wait patiently for Shivappa to steam the idlis fresh and call your token number! This may seem like a bit of a drill, until you take a bite of the spicy chutney soaked idlis, and then it all seems to make sense. Like we discovered when we drove 130 kilometres from Bengaluru for breakfast recently. Hope you enjoy this episode; take care, stay safe and happy eating.
Idli Chutney Butter
Rs. 30/ 40/ 60 (usd 0.1) for 4/ 6/ 8 idlis respectively.
9/10
Rs. 10 for extra butter
Happy Eating!

You r right bro
I like the guy doesn't give a thing about people coming with camera, he is just doing his business.
I don't understand the token system.
@@AZ-ze5xb tokens avoid handling of dirty money, hassle of changes at the time of giving out food items. It makes sure people pay upfront. Sometimes they have numbers on them, in cases there are a LOT of people so as to maintain first come-first serve.

A dignified 60+ gentleman standing on his feet and not dependent on anyone, Further serving food to people is something worthy of super appreciation, Salute to.Sri Shivappa. Stay young and serve people. GOD bless.

This video shows what the pure love, hardworking, dedication, satisfaction, happiness is! Equally contributed by Shivappa and Kripal sir.
If Kripal were to eat a bitter gourd dish and explained how good it is, i might end up eating it. Magician with words while explaining food.
Yes I would like to watch that
This is my wife’s village ... I ate Idli here many times... Very tasty
A big salute to Kripal sir.. wow hatsoff to ur patience and down to earth character as many tend to get impatience if at all they travel all the way From blore 130km away and the owner didn't mind the camera and focused on his work and communication between them was too little compared to others 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This was a pleasant watch.. Glad to see small yet famous eateries being highlighted by you Kripal. Thanks for the experience..🙏
I would have loved to see more of it, Mr Shivappa's small interview post 11am. As it was crowded, he was hardly able to communicate to you properly.
Shivappa must be a "Punekar" as per his rules for the customers...😁😁...Jokes apart..he seems to be very hard and dedicated person towards his work..Just watching this video I felt in love in his Idli Chutney and Benne..😋😋
One more good video by Kripal - miss all the fun - left Bangalore 20 years back - brings memories back - good the owner keeps the traditional method and serves in environmentally degradable plates 👏👏👏
Definitely loved mr shivappa's robust nature like typical older people have when kids dont listen to them & offcourse kripal's way of presenting it to the viewers with that lovely music in the background.
Now that u have covered this hotel... it will be very crowded here afterwards... Earlier I used to wait for 30 min in que now it will be much more 😅😅
But this owner wont increase the idli.... daily he fix to 15 kilo only
But owner is very strict person ...i am this great person from so many years..🙏🙏🙏
Another gem Kripal!!! We have so much to learn from such simple ppl earning their livelihood with honesty and sincerity 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Kripal sir you are so humble. The owner, Mr. Shivappa is hardworking and committed. But, not customer friendly. Still Kripal sir you were so persistent to communicate with him. You accepted him the way he is. Hats off to you sir.
If he wasn't customer friendly people would not be there plus he has no obligation to respond to kripal, his commitment to work comes first as he's doing everything singlehandedly
@@SK-fs4bv I understand that he has no obligation towards Kripal. I acknowledge that he is hardworking. His wife supports him with cooking. However, he can't vent out his frustration on customers.

As a 100% Bengali I am quite sure that in one of my previous births I was born somewhere south of Orissa. Hence, my immeasurable love for the cuisine which we Bengalis broadly call "South Indian Khawar". Thanks to Mr. Amanna atleast my eyes can feed on these wonderful dishes while my Bengali heart embraces my " South Indian" palate. And once in a while, whenever I leave Kolkata for down South I do revisit the videos, for the directions... Ofcourse😍😍😍😍

Literal, straight, to the point
Being from Kolkata, I had hoped that one day , I would be able to go there and taste those delicious idlis. Alas , that was not to be.... he may have left us forever, but his love for his work, his dedication and the taste of his idlis will remain forever. May your soul Rest in eternal peace Mr Shivappa. 🙏🙏🙏

Kudos to you sir for picking this rather humble hotel but serves one of the best benne idlis. The idlis are very soft, chutney and benne enhance the flavour. Except for the long wait the best place for benne idly. The idli is worth the wait.
Good deeds are reciprocated like wise. You again have put humble, dedicated shivappa on the global scenario. Not enough kudos in the world who serves stomach full for his customers. Nobody would be offended from now on as you have highlighted his work pressure. Also noticed his wife smilingly filling the idly pot with water. You enjoyed. Keep going.
Lovely idlies amazing man all made by himself. Behind everyman a woman invisibly works 😊😇 see the dedication. As usual wholesome video presentation with very natural relishing. Thank you KA.

Sir, tomorrow no police lathi charge in front of his home because of VIP visited.
Shivappa doesn't talk much. He only concentrate on his work. He doesn't produce more in the weekends as well. He may run out of stock before 9 AM going forward due to Kripal's visit.
Mr. Kripal, you look like an officer or MD of MNC. But, you travel kms to show even small hotel to reach people... Great!!
Hats off to Shivappa who serves Idli alone🙏🙏🙏. Thank you so much for exploring delicious food places in Karnataka sir 👍🙏
Kripal you drove 130 kms for us... That's so cool... You seem a bit unsure about Rice to Udid dal proportion of 10:0.75... One shouldn't ask such trade secrets actually, as it's their business and livelihood... I liked Shivappa's attitude which he must have developed over decades of learning from sweet and bitter experiences... Dealing with customers and vloggers is no joke 😀
the disclosure will make zero difference to his business, and as a viewer i appreciate learning about the nuances of the idli composition. in fact, i'm quite sure it will be the opposite - his custom with increase substantially following the publicity from this video
Nothing wrong, even if anybody does it with same proportion, same taste can not be achieved
that should be fine really , the magic is also in the chutney
There is no effect on his business just by asking proportion.. It also based on how you grind and fermentation time
I analyse each sentence in your review and finally have a smile on my face!! 😀
Amazing narrator kripal sir, when he eating and explaining I feel like am eating that😁🤗
Sir if ur in Mysore please look out for a small shop opposite to St Joseph's school and college in jayalakshmi puram....U can taste very popular veg pulav which is been served from last 15-20 years

I always eat idly here while traveling to Mysore from Tumkur ,near Pandavapura sugar factory in main road ( darasaguppe village name ).he don't pay any extra attention if any Celebrity comes to his hotel also., always will be busy with his work and work only from 6 am to 10 am. everyone should take Coupon and he will write names on first come first basis in book and he never skips any names ,one man handles full hotel from many years .
