Then there's epic ones with lots of experience and overcame a lot of their own insecurities to be both a great manager and a real compassionate person - you feel healthy and sane around em, that's for sure. "You're being too sensitive" is just another way to make _you_ shoulder the responsibility of someone else's disrespectful behavior. Some would say that you are being gaslit. Your feelings are what you feel and you are entitled to them.
Sometimes I feel reporting rudeness to a manager would cause more issues than fix things overall, it depends on the level of the rudeness and why. Also, confronting rudeness is hard, especially when the worker is already stressed out.

At 61, I just found myself a part-time job as theme park guide. Young and elderly seem welcoming me and nice at first, but it's all an illusion. One time, l tried joining my team for lunch at the staff canteen (20 mins after they were there). I greeted everyone, put down my water bottle, and left to collect food, when l returned in less than three minutes, they were all gone in a flash, in lightning speed. Their intention to distant a new comer was loud and clear.

It really is a vicious no win cycle. If you speak up you are now the problem. People advise you to leave but there are bullies in every workplace. So now what? What is a hard working, conflict averse person supposed to do when they just want to survive and can’t stand up for themselves properly?
I feel like any adverse reaction we have to the bully, any impulse we act upon we are the ones to feel the guilt later and not the bully, we have remourse and THEY DONT! They don’t have any shame, just all ego.
Never used to be,30 years of Work placaments,Every one used always laugh and joke,Only time people ever got serious was when people done any thing bad at work on purpose is more understandable,Times have changes in the last few Jobs what ive had,When it comes to rude people at work
My advice from experience. And that works everywhere, at primary school, high school, workplace ir street. People in general are rude and brutal, and many of them will try to "joke", mock or even bully others. And the ones who are quite and can't stand back are the victims. Don' speak nice to the one who is trying to bully or mock you. Be ready to fight back and even get sacked for it. Remeber: bullies are mentaly disorders, because they constantly need to feel that they are stronger above someone. And that is what they do constantly, keep looking for quiter people, who don't talk back. Try for one time to show a bit more power to them
Im a quiet guy, and this happens to me. These people can dish it out but can't take it. They are the weakest ones at the workplace. They need validation. They are pussy's anywhere except the place they have clout.
I think sometimes it's due to insecurity. Other times, poor social skills/emotional intelligence. But, also it can indicate abuse that will eventually escalate. Yes it can absolutely lower morale.
There is no excuse for rudeness at work. Been dealing with this lately. Looking for new job. It is top down problem. The raging verbally is just shocking to me. This is high level finance job by the way.
Is not responding to my good morning rude? I can't help but feel upset when my coworkers ignore my good mornings but say it back to certain staff members.
It's called "Selective empathy".... This immature way of thinking is associated with sociopaths. They empathized more with people who share their same qualities
I reported rudeness and they blamed me….I know am being accused of abusing unemployment from this company. I regret ever working for them I was treated unfairly and now enduring financial hardship from a company.
If you leave a company where someone is being rude to you, it could end up better for you or you could be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. A-holes are everywhere! I'm dealing with this right now. I have to work on myself, to learn to let rudeness roll off my back. After all, while it's most uncomfortable, it's really not my problem, it's the rude person's problem. There are narcissists, bossy boots, gossips, etc. and unless it becomes harassment, it's best to learn to not react. It's nearly impossible but I have decided to learn this skill. The less reaction rude people get, the less likely they are to continue to try and get a reaction. Wish me luck with this as I also wish you all luck as well. WE CAN GET STRONGER!!! 🙂
Tell the Boss. I can't stress this enough. Don't be worried about retaliation or snitch. The boss doesn't want One Bad Worker scaring away potential life-long hard working employees, just as much as you don't want to feel personally attacked. Jobs look at you as replaceable, so you need to always be ready to replace your job, no matter what!
I actually enjoy what I do and my job has minimal stress but it's my coworker that makes my job unbearable. They say, no one can make you do anything and when they do, you're giving away your power to them. Her energy is negative, problematic and prejudice and when she isn't speaking to me for weeks at a time (silent treatment) the environment is even more malicious. And yes, her and upper management have a relationship. So I don't bother reporting my experience working with her. I come in, do my work and stay to myself but the energy and environment still negatively affects me.
I would document it and report it. Because I have learned that when we don't report it, it doesn't seem to go well for us. The bully gets away with it, and eventually complains about the targeted person who's being harassed, first, putting the target on the hot seat, so to speak. It's your choice, but I believe now in reporting. The one time I did, I actually was able to to get rid of that bully. Come to find out, I wasn't the first person to complain. She had done it to other people too.
That’s horrible, I had a situation like this before, what I did worked for me, I confronted that person but not to argue, to negotiate. “We don’t have to like each other or force conversations, but do you think it’s possible we can get along and communicate just for work purposes “ the individual luckily agreed. Eventually that tension disappeared all together and there was allot more respect.
I quit my job after months of my boss and other coworkers treating me like crap, whenever I do my job correctly my boss tends to falsely blame me for not doing it correctly although I did do everything right
Thankfully I’ve never been accused of being rude in the workplace. However, I’ve become a professional at identifying it. It’s such a social science that rude leaders can’t actually lead. If rude employees have found themself in a leadership position they’re eventually inadvertently ousted but some effect of the nature of their own rudeness.
If managers “don’t want to deal with” the complaints from their employees, they should get out of management. It comes with good and bad. Leading people is not an easy job but it’s one that you shouldn’t sign up for if you’re not willing to deal with your team coming to you for help.
It is true that a supervisor dismissing concerns or blaming the reporter has a negative impact on the employee. It is even worse when an employee goes to their supervisor and they dismiss concerns and ignore issues because they are friends with the person that is reported. A supervisor not being able to address situations properly really have a negative impact on employees, morale in the workplace and the company in general.
There's rude people at work that run out the new hires- how management can't figure this out is beyond me. As for the rude people I ignore- it's ridiculous - I see certain people who totally keep to themselves and I get it. One rude person had said good night and one person answered back, I hope she realized that she isn't the Queen of the hop, without her gang.
This sounds like the situation where I work. It’s a click of workers. When they are all together it’s them running a muck. When they are separated they seem to be okay to be around. Now that they have dwindled in numbers it’s nice. Now we have two in particular that are just nasty. Oh yes. Down right nasty.
Today at my job, I was denied water and bathroom break During a heat advisory Never felt so disrespected in my life and then was sent home for insubordinate, when I Stood up for myself.
I've accepted because I do warehouse work, and it brings in all kinds of people. I work with people who weren't taught responsibility or work ethic. The simple task of asking someone to get me a box because I can't leave my line is met with a sneer and a nasty attitude. Then that person questions me why I need the box because she thinks I don't need it. It's people like that who drain the life out of me. I'm going into shutdown mode. I can't DEAL with people anymore
If its an unbearable situation, and your manager ignores it, skip a level, go to a director. It doesn't hurt to try it and since you're going to end up leaving anyways because the culture is so bad...so you may as well speak your mind (be polite and professional) with a higher up. Often times when you bring up issues regarding a rude coworker, you're not bringing up anything that has not already been documented in the past, you'd be surprised how often managers already know who the offender is.
Been in one. The co-owener was consistently rude and discounted my addition to conversations and said I was wrong. However my additions to the conversation were backed by certifications and turth and logic. The younger employeed adopted the owners behaviors and comments and talked down to me. 15 years his senior I seriously considered leaving. Its the cool kid club. Technology is empowering bad behavior. Saying it in a meeting is where it should liv.

I work remotely for a German company, where the offshore staff is supportive but people from my own country try to make me look bad in front of the management. I have 11 years of experience and this is mostly done by a person, not in my team & who has around 2-3 years of experience. This person has a habit of escalating small issues & making mountains out of a mole. The only difference is I am new to this domain & the other person is working in this company for the past 2 yrs. If I reply to this person in a stern tone, their team lead immediately comes to their rescue & makes me look like I am the one who doesn't know how to do my job. I have tried to ignore this by being the bigger person, but it has started to make me lose interest in my work, which I love dearly. not sure what to do, is quitting the right option 😔
I understand you completely. I just changed the land and job, and some colleagues from here doesn't stand me and I honestly I don't understand why. There are old colleagues and have a lot of experience but I have this feeling that they don't like the new people. Also, there are 2 or 3 of them that are trying every time to say something negative about me and behind my back to other colleagues. It's just so stressful and awful situation. If this continues I will definitely leave.
It’s the unproductive management who feed on this drama. It makes the day go by faster for them. They make no effort to dissolve the situation they add fuel by gaslighting.
What about a new CEO who's openly rude towards a long-serving senior manager in front of new and junior team members, and even goes on to sow discord and warn the new/junior staff to be cautious of older staff who have been with the company much longer. And there's obvious signs of internal power tussle between the CEO and the senior manager. It's only been my first week at work, and I'm starting to feel that alarm bells are ringing and I should exit the clutches of a toxic boss.
theres no excuse for it stop pretending corporations care anything for the workers at the bottom the more respect comes as you go up, dont matter how long you work there or your education level nothing matters, they just want you quite and doing w/e they throw at you is it so much to ask to be treated like a human being with respect. i guess so because they rather fire and rehire then bother helping or listening to issues being communicated.

yeah..what happens if you are one of the new managers that are just being used as a body for bigger managers who are on day off and are being treated disrespectfully by the staff because they says it's their break day from the bigger manager and they expect to be able to do whatever they want because old manager didnt care about anything...and you say something and the employee who yells and disrespects the manager is allowed to act that way and the new manager is basically told they cant say anything to the employee who is being disrespectful....and now you are the problem for addressing the abuse by bully employee....
I have experienced two sides. Early in my career I had been rude and eventually got let go… not let go specifically for being rude but the Manager did not want to deal with me. I was also not performing well. Many years later the experience has come full circle with me being in the Managerial role with a rude employee reporting to me. I feel bad for them despite them causing emotional damage to me. I feel like I need to quit and transition to another role. I could follow advice from various peers and write up the rude employee eventually which leads to their departure. However, I don’t know if its worth my time. HR will always treat both side equally to avoid legal issues, its very tough if the rude employee is crafty.
If your workplace tolerates rude behavior and blames you if you are the victim of that behavior after you've done everything right to stop this behavior that's when the next time the rude person is barking or being rude to you you calmly tell them "there's only one thing that behavior is good for and that's starting a fist fight. So you ready for us to head on down to the parking lot to settle this or you want to be nice from now on?"
@jessicaras4540 Nah bro. They gonna get told to respect me. Some people forget we're made in the image of God and they need a reminder. God hates a weak coward that mistakes his ways for confrontation avoiding.
I had something happen to me yesterday that caught me so off guard and I have no clue what to do. I work for a doctor but was hired by a staffing company that owns the clinic. I asked him to place an order for a patient, bc there was an error in the system and the order did not come up - he responded that he placed the order and did not have time to place the order “the way I like it” & proceeded to CC my office manager and staffing co manager. I get he is super saturated and stressed out but I literally am not able to place orders since I am not the doctor & we need to give these referrals to attorneys and the therapist on staff. My office manager was sitting right next to me, and she looked sorry for me bc we were both clueless as to why he acted like this & it’s a very strange situation for both of us. I am trying for his rude email not to get to me, but it’s hard to ignore. 😕
HR is there to protect the company from YOU. Dont go to anyone else when mistreated at work. Address that person directly & quickly and tell them the problem. If they don't agree to work on it then it's time to find a new job
I work a simple job in a store to make a living while changing careers. The managers have Not blamed me when I had to report bad behavior (particularly near customers). Other issues impact the bottom line right now. I am staying as long as the company will have me. Due to other issues, I don't know how long that will be.
@jessicaras4540 There is a difference between vengeance and consequences. If the manager agrees with me about another's behavior, the manager gives appropriate consequences. It appears that you are mistaken in your choice of verses. Taking vengeance is wrongful payback, but managers give consequences. Another's bad behavior impacts the income of the store and can hurt every employee. Consequences do not go away. Loving others can mean giving managers an opportunity to give proper consequences or not. In other words being nice (covering up bad behavior at work) can hurt other, innocent parties. Being godly can mean reporting the behavior so it will ultimately be stopped (or at least curbed). These are not small things. These are not personal insults but refusals to follow work rules that prevent me from doing my job properly. One may cover small insults, but one is not obligated to cover for poor work that impacts my job. Consequences are not the same as vengeance. The verse cited applies to small insults, not poor work done by others that prevents you from doing your job. Christians have to understand the nuances of the situation to know what verse to apply. Consequences are not the same as revenge, so your implied rebuke is not being received.
@jessicaras4540 Consequences are not revenge. Managers give consequences as part of the job. Consequences are used to protect, correct and improve behavior/performance. Revenge does not. Please do not equate the two.

I do agree with you what you're saying a couple of days ago my assistant store leader said I was worthless and I'm too good to be here a lot of people got mad at her she should have been let go right then and there but I had to go hire up and change to talk to someone for a third party like you said and they are going to send her to a different store but if it continues she will be let go
So I'm having this problem, the guy was literally telling co workers to search my girlfriends name and I was just sat there while they was making comments I wanted to loose it but I have responsibilities I know going to a manager will make it worse because the job is engineering people basically think they can say what they want and excuse it with banter, anybody got any hints on how to deal with this guy because it really gets me down on a weekly basis or am I being too sensitive?
I work for a small company and this one lady is sooo rude! Rude in emails and in person. She has been there forever and the other people (owner included) they all know each other and just dont care.
In my job what happened to me was that the manager confronted me yelled at me at my face he took off his watch and his necklace and he prepared himself for a fist fight he stepped by the door didn’t let me go out and didn’t want me to speak with the boss although he never touched me he got so close to my face that I thought he was wanting to give me a kiss 🤮 all the time I remained calm and controlled because I knew if I was the first into touching him I will be the one who lost the job and probably go to jail. But what surprised me more is that the boss didn’t care.
I almost got into a fist fight today with a colleague after he instigated the fight. It all started when i told him that i wont tolerate being called lazy. Long story short, the manager ignored the main issue and said i was wrong for retaliating.
I just dealt with this, had an injury that made me lose four weeks of work when I returned I was basically admonished for not using crutches and received comments that I was using up workers benefits for fun etc

I'm teaching art courses. Wow what a worklpace rudeness sometimes! Last week I came to work, to learn that someone put another course that should last to the minute when mine begins, in the same room. Ok ,no problem. But, when it was time to beginn and my students were waiting outside, I nicely informed the young lady (teaching sewing for kids there) that we should in fact soon begin our course. She flipped out, sworn, declared that she doesn't give a f*ck, asked "do we all know who she is" and sent me out. I invited my students and we moved into the back of the room, informing again the teacher that we have to unpack because it's already 10 past 6p.m. and we're expecting that she begins to consider to finish her class. The result was her verbal agression, and then the army of parents of kids from her class, somehow supposing that someone attacks their children (???) stormed in like in Capitol and started quarrelling with my students, who remained polite but firm. One Karen asked me agressive if I am a teacher there, I tried to answer with yes, I'm Prof.Dr. XY and got answer "I don't give a f*ck who you are, bla bla, I want you to..bla bla". At the end my students and I concentrated on packing out our things and eventually the riot group left the room. The last one was the seamstress-teacher, who yelled at the door, not allowing for any explanation, slammed the door and went away. We had already lost 15 mins of our 2 hours course. Before this she mentioned a few times how she is a good friend with "Susy" and I understood that she speaks of my boss, Ms Susanne R. This all is happening in Germany, country where most of the people are polite and professional, but times and world crisis do their thing all over the world. I expect that "Susy" will take her bestie's side no matter what happened. I don't care. I wrote anyway and official mail to "Susy" to inform what happened. Here - workplace rudeness, bottom.

What happens if the rudeness comes from management and senior management?
Go to HR.
@@pixiebabe9381 but at some occasions they would just say" we will investigate it" …..
and let it drag it for weeks/ months till people would forget about the incident", as stated by Special Ldy.
Everyone knows that HR's job is the aid the company NOT the people!
Report to Senior Management
@@desmondgallagher5648 I recall I did that and all I got was "don't take it to seriously" or " I will have a word with him" and nothing would come about from it. Senior Management is more concern about getting the department to work and controlling its finance.
Some might even say " just toughen up" or " just ignore it, it would pass in "
time if you don't make an issue of it"
Others would say " no one else had a problem with this person"
Human/ emotion factors tends to come bottom in Senior Management priority .
If you must take the matter to Senior Management, then highlight to them about your regions rulings regarding "BULLYING IN THE WORK PLACE" with a build up of evidence, e.g e-mails, printed letter, message stickers etc
Get a workmate/ workmates that would vouch for you since a "single voice" would be ignored.
State how this kind of thing is bad for morale and employee effectiveness, that the only thing the Senior Management is concerned about.
Quit
These people making excuses for it… “We’re stressed out!” Too bad! Grow up. You shouldn’t be stressing other because you’re stressed.
Exactly I’m miserable, but I don’t go around spreading it like a virus.
Exactly a lot of brats in my job when they are in a bad mood fhey start screaming at me for no reason and pretending me to understand their stress, like f*ck off
I wouldn’t know what to do if I had a job that didn’t bring me to tears in the bathroom once a week. Toxic toxic people but I don’t have much faith it’ll change and I can tell my performance is suffering
You gotta hang in there and stay strong. Don't let others dictate how you feel when your at work
U dont deserve that
Hope things got better for you
Quit that. Trust it’s not worth messing up your mental.
I’m sorry you’re going through this.
I've often wondered why colleges don't teach some kind of office conflict resolution especially since it's such a prevalent problem
Totally!
In offices training is limited which is just absurd. Conflict resolution should absolutely be apart of office training
Because the people at the top thrive on such. When you're constantly on edge it makes it easier to offer low pay.
Best type of job is work from home
Most of it stems of coworker insecurity.
Maybe it’s just me but I find it easy to NOT BE rude. Meanwhile I notice some coworkers don’t even notice they’re being rude AND overbearing. It really does mess with your performance. The helicopter coworkers literally make my blood boil.
@@User-q6x3b haha, so true. It's funny. You throw it back at them and they're like "what's with you today? Off your meds."
Nope, just seeing if you can take it as good as you dish it out.
Victims are being blamed because managers don't like "drama." From experience!
Exactly
No they love drama, they just don’t like being called out on it!
Because they are cowards
Bullies usually come from older employees and/or management. I stop reporting to management cause they the one who’s feeding them. They won’t do nothing about that cause they wanna protect their positions.you gotta deal with it or find yourself something else 😢
sadly you nailed it.
So true! Deal with it or leave.
Telling HR will only make things worse in my opinion.
I m welder and skinny guy whit 70kg and tall 6 foot. I had big problems whit people in Steel factories , people was mocking me and make fun of me becasue of my looks and people always loking me like a weak guy who cant lift anything , one guy who was harasing me and insulting me every day ,after one month i had enough and i attacked him and knocked out him.and i insulted all people who was making fun of mee .After 15 days Boss fired me . Always when i start working in some steel factory , there are always some bunch of guys who will ruin my day at work . always. Im so tired of that BS.
I’d like to hear how to respond to someone that is rude to you at work.
You could discuss with them and ask why they're rude to you privately.
Knocked them the f*** out problem solved 😉

Some of my coworkers are so rude and they are also the managers favorite
It really is a vicious no win cycle.
If you speak up you are now the problem. People advise you to leave but there are bullies in every workplace. So now what?
What is a hard working, conflict averse person supposed to do when they just want to survive and can’t stand up for themselves properly?
stink bomb?
It is rude, but some people might not hear, you, or they are still waking up. Just ignore it
It is rude if they're doing it intentionally. It's also extremely odd.
It's called "Selective empathy".... This immature way of thinking is associated with sociopaths. They empathized more with people who share their same qualities
Some people have no social skills.
Problem is w leaving - it’s everywhere.
so basically be rude and you'll be fine!
What if the boss is on the side of the bully?
@@bluemarvel4601in many cases, the rude person feels “safe” because they made the right alliances, and the target usually has fewer alliances
Secretaly record her and report her to the police if she crosses the line
Yep, that's how the typical work place operates. Then so many like to bring they're problems from home to the job.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with that I hope it’s gotten better
I've heard of rude colleagues getting slapped or water splashed in their faces.
I quit my job after months of my boss and other coworkers treating me like crap, whenever I do my job correctly my boss tends to falsely blame me for not doing it correctly although I did do everything right
Because he's insecure
Thankfully I’ve never been accused of being rude in the workplace. However, I’ve become a professional at identifying it. It’s such a social science that rude leaders can’t actually lead. If rude employees have found themself in a leadership position they’re eventually inadvertently ousted but some effect of the nature of their own rudeness.
Here's an update.
The management in general did not listen to what you guys were saying.
So we had the Great Resignation and Quiet Quitting.
this, lolol. "quiet quitting". i love hearing other get up in arms about quiet quitting.
I was told I get a paycheck and that I needed therapy.
Wow two genius revelations 😆 🤣

How do you ask for those boxes? 🤔
Its like HS in the adult world… why is it like this?!!!
OOOh my God people are so rude and full of bullies!

Same situation here.
No winning that one. Look for a new job.
Yea it doesnt feel good having someone breathe down your neck!
And tell lies about your performance scrutinizing you as a coworker.
Im rude at work. I dont care for my coworkers.
I'm "checked out" currently..... it's too bad really. Being miserable sucks!
It's especially difficult not taking things personally.
theres no excuse for it stop pretending corporations care anything for the workers at the bottom the more respect comes as you go up, dont matter how long you work there or your education level nothing matters, they just want you quite and doing w/e they throw at you is it so much to ask to be treated like a human being with respect. i guess so because they rather fire and rehire then bother helping or listening to issues being communicated.

Thanks for this video. Watching on a 5 minute break. I almost quit but I really can't afford to miss a paycheck. Gonna smile and pretend I'm fine as usual.
yeah..what happens if you are one of the new managers that are just being used as a body for bigger managers who are on day off and are being treated disrespectfully by the staff because they says it's their break day from the bigger manager and they expect to be able to do whatever they want because old manager didnt care about anything...and you say something and the employee who yells and disrespects the manager is allowed to act that way and the new manager is basically told they cant say anything to the employee who is being disrespectful....and now you are the problem for addressing the abuse by bully employee....
That's stupid

Mortgage lending is rife with this behavior. Upper management does not care how anyone is treated as long as they are making money.
It's been happening to me every day I work from a assistant bus I don't know what to do
Be so good at your job that the rude person just looks foolish. Works!

"So managers, if you're out there listening..."
They're not.
Please do not equate the two.
advice i got was wise people ignore foolishness because they want a reaction unless they touch you or your belongings words are words and i would ignore it…

As the server work with a violent co-worker, she is verbally abusive, and even she fights inside the restaurant with another server the manager doesn't fight her she switches with order when they are in the trays and her behavior with other server is the same with a report to store manager but nothing.
I work in a resturaunt and upon hiring the gm warned me about my bully and I’ve done everything but formally write my complaint and submit it to HR. I have threatened to do that if nothing is taken care of. I’m the squeaky wheel and I also do my full job to the best of my ability, learning every day, engaging with everyone and even have normal moments with the bully. Someone told me to leave this up to God who always finds a way to bring these people their justice. I heard through the grapevine this coworker has a charge on their record for violence so I mean they got me working with a dangerous bully.
You take a walk then lol. You have to bear the abuse. :(
