I'm late to this video's party but I just discovered your channel and am playing catch up. I LOVE B&P puzzles. Their 300's are my favorite snack size puzzle brand. I thrift/flea market/trade 90% of my puzzles and I don't mind missing pieces. I love it when the previous puzzler notes missing pieces on the outside of the box. I do the same.
I'm glad you do that! It makes it so much easier to figure out what you're working with when you get them. I know I can't expect much when it comes to used puzzles, especially when I pay cents for them 😂But it's a very nice surprise when they are fully complete!
I’m glad you put the note on the box. My mother was going to donate a puzzle with missing pieces to her church yard sale. I said she should put a note on the box. She said if she did, no one would buy it. I said,, exactly.
I'm definitely going to make it a point to make note on anything I end up donating. Maybe we should call them "Misfit Puzzles", but not because of their fit. 😂
Nice! I'm really looking forward to picking up more sets in different piece counts. I have another used set, but I think my next go at B&P needs to be a brand new set with all the pieces included (hopefully right lol).
My condolences for the missing pieces! There is nothing that makes me sadder than not finishing a puzzle that I worked so hard on. I have done 2 thrifted Bits and Pieces puzzles that were both Christmas images. While nothing was missing, one piece was severely mutilated, which I didn't enjoy. I also have a Bits and Pieces puzzle easel that is very well-made and has served me well. I think they are a good brand overall.
It really does bring you down, especially when it's taking you so much time. I guess it's just the feeling of never really "finishing" it. Aside from that, I also feel its a good brand, and I'm looking forward to trying out more of their sets. I'd like to pick up sets with different piece counts and see if there's any difference with the experience.
I did a Bits and Pieces puzzle recently that was a whole pizza. Most of the slices were different but there were two pepperoni slices that were difficult. Also I ended up starting in the center which you wouldn't normally do. I tried the crust first but I found a lot of the pieces fit together even though they don't really belong connected to each other, so that confused me. The center was a pretty obvious piece and the pieces that went around the center were pretty obvious, so I started there and worked my way out and did the crust last. It was easier to put the crust together with the toppings put together that way you know which crust pieces went where. For some reason my Bits and Pieces puzzle doesn't pick up well. When I try it, it immediately starts to fall apart. Maybe I'm picking it up wrong. Don't know why everybody else can seem to pick up their puzzles and I can't 🤷
Sometimes it takes me several attempts to get a good grip on the puzzle when I'm trying to pick it up. You got to take it slowly sometimes, and figure out just the right place to lift it from. I really need to pick up some more Bit's & Pieces, especially a 500 count and see if that experience/quality is any different to the 1k.
Hi Mandy, I haven't had much luck with Bits nad Pieces, it was older sets, so perhaps they've improved the quality. The ones I did the pieces were way to crumbly for my tatse. I go to puzzle swaps and would pick one up if I liked the image and give it another try.
Interesting, that's good to know. This makes me think that I should make a habit of noting the year when the sets were produced. It'd probably be good to know in terms of quality improvements.
Hi Mandy! I have to tell you that I have recently bought 3 Eeboo 500 piece round puzzles! They.... are....the...best! So much fun, challenging and the pieces all fit on my card table. Oh my, maybe you need to try one❤
That is awesome! I've yet to try a round Eeboo puzzle. I tried one of their square ones in the past and really liked it. Thank you for the suggestion 🤗
For a secondhand puzzle I wouldn't feel upset with two missing pieces more yes. I have never done a Bits and Pieces puzzle as we are unable to get them here in Europe but I didn't really like the look of those pieces. I love Ravensburger 😊
I know, my mind is just silly like that. And I even went into this with the mindset that it'd mostly likely be missing pieces, but it still didn't prepare me for it when it actually happened LOL. Oh well, I'll just have to get used to it 😅 I really do need to make it a point to try out another Ravensburger very soon. I have a number of sets in my collection that need working on.
"The real estate listings were unreal" LOL That cracked me up!!! I dont mind doing a puzzle that I know is missing pieces but it's a pain to go into it not being sure.
🤣🤣🤣I felt like I was shopping for a new home! I agree with you though, I don't think I'd mind as much if I already knew it was missing pieces. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time.
Karen Puzzles has mentioned Bits and Pieces puzzles quite often. She ordered a lot of them when she was a kid, and received their catalog. I'm currently working on one i picked up at a puzzle swap, and I'm enjoying it. I've ordered 1 of their shaped puzzles (😅 but im scared of it-- its supposedly really difficult). I also ordered one of their puzzle tables and love it.
They really do have a great selection of puzzle sets. I've been eyeing some of those shaped puzzles, but you're right, some of them do look challenging 😅. I've also been looking at some of their puzzle tables, as I'm thinking about getting a second one that's taller so that I don't have to always puzzle on the floor. Which table do you have?

I have purchased Bits and Pieces puzzles brand new and, quite amazingly over a period of at least 30 years, I have never been missing a puzzle piece. @@thepuzzledmandy The best jigsaw puzzle catalog I've found that is a pleasure to look through with coffee in hand is Puzzle Warehouse's print catalog. It is about 80 pages and is of great quality. B&P definitely had a much better hold than my Ravensburger experience. I really need to get a move on and try out another one of their sets. I need to know if my first experience was a one off, but then again, many others complain about the same thing. It's so surprising considering their price.
When you place an order with Bits and Pieces you can order a free puzzle. You will not know what the picture is till you get it. You can also pick the count of pieces for the free puzzle.
@@thepuzzledmandy As far as I know it is with every order. Once you place something in your cart, look up free puzzles and it will have an add to cart. If you look free puzzle up first, the add to cart won't show. I will be honest the ones I received (the ones I can remember anyway) I would not have picked out. I am guessing it is puzzles that don't sell well. But I appreciate them offering free puzzles. It is very nice of them.
I actually haven't worked on a puzzle bigger than 1500, and that's the biggest my puzzle table will fit. I have a thick felt puzzle mat (from the brand Sunix) that's about a couple inches bigger than my table. But anything bigger than that, I have no clue what I'm going to do yet. Anything bigger than 38 inches might end up getting pieced together on the floor, which is something I really don't want to do, but I can't really film anywhere else other than my puzzle room. My only other option would be to find bigger foam boards and set them on my puzzle table.
I am so over buying thrift store puzzles. My last two purchases had 6 pieces missing and a couple of chewed up pieces. The other box had no corner pieces. What the heck??? Plus these prices were $5.99 each.

Yes the quality is ok. I struggled a little with the random cut. but it does not bother me as much in other brands. no idea as to why.... I am surprised so many brands are random cut now. I did enjoy you including the web site info.. ..as far as your Ravensburger comment. I do love their thick pieces, but am disappointed for the price they do not include a poster nor do they have a lot of images I like. My new years goal is to organize my puzzles, I hope to put up new shelves soon . and to only buy what I REALLLY want....thrifted or not.. Loved the pants... Keep warm!!
Wow, that's a lot of missing pieces! I'd be super sad if I had that many missing, thankfully I only dealt with two from this set. Funny, I went in with the mindset that something was missing, but it still didn't fully mentally prepare me for it 🤣Oh well, I'll just have to get used to it lolol. I could swear I remember someone mentioning that some of the more recent Ravensburger sets are including a poster now. It's about time! I'm planning to reorganize my puzzle room within the next couple of weeks. It's in desperate need of help 😂
Thank you! I know I have another used set in my collection that was given to me, but I really need to try out a brand new set to get the full experience. I also plan to pick out sets with different pieces counts to see if there are any differences. I'm looking forward to it!
From what I'm hearing, many aren't fans of the random cuts. I think for me, it varies. I guess it would really have to depend on the image and overall quality and experience.
Oh boy, I would seriously pull my hair out if my new 2k puzzle was missing pieces!!! I'm working on my first 2K right now, and now I'm getting paranoid 🤣🤣🤣
For random pieces sake I prefer Springbok over Bits and Pieces. I do enjoy them, they can have a loose fit but I like their triangular piece shape for the 500 pieces count. It is a bummer it was not complete. When it happens, I put a note of missing piece and I donate it. I had my share of puzzles with missing pieces so I am over the feeling of disappointment a little better but it always hurts🧩❤️
Springbok is another brand I need to try out again. I've only ever worked on one, but I have another set here that's been sat on my shelf brand new. I really need to start desensitizing myself from missing pieces. I have a number of used puzzle sets here waiting for me, so it's only a matter of time lolol.
I almost gave up on a Bits & Pieces puzzle because the image was so blurry! 😅 I ended up asking my husband to help me because I was getting dizzy looking at thise pieces for hours 🤪❤️🧩🎉🌞
Oh wow, interesting. So maybe it wasn't just the nature of my puzzle image. Now I'm really curious to try out other sets and see if it's a B&P thing.
Good video Mandy. I love Bits and Pieces. I have gotten different brands at garage sales and pieces were missing. Disappointing.
Thank you!
I know I have another used set in my collection that was given to me, but I really need to try out a brand new set to get the full experience. I also plan to pick out sets with different pieces counts to see if there are any differences. I'm looking forward to it!
Bits and Pieces tend towards blurry once they hit 1000 pieces. At least in my experience.
That's interesting, thanks for the info. Now I really need to look into getting more sets with different pieces counts to compare.
Iv hade a bits and bobs puzzle
They're pretty good, and I'm looking forward to trying another set.
I did one Bits and Pieces years ago. I won’t buy another because I dislike random cut.
From what I'm hearing, many aren't fans of the random cuts. I think for me, it varies. I guess it would really have to depend on the image and overall quality and experience.
Used puzzles I expect missing pieces, but what really makes me upset is a brand new 2000 piece puzzle with a miss piece!!😤🤬🤯🥴
I'm currently working on a puzzle from another brand right now, and those pieces are so darn blurry that I don't know how long it's going to take me to complete 😔
