😂 the audible sigh from your hubby after discussing suitcase space. The banter between you two was so cute.
Corner Piece have so many different images. They are not the best quality but nice enough and cheap with loads of choice. Don’t know if your husband said anything about the roof you mentioned, yes they can be high maintenance and they cost £1000s to replace. But they look amazing when they are done and watching someone thatch a roof is absolutely fascinating.
My rule of thumb for charity shop puzzles, if they are loose in the box I never purchase. If they are in a bag I think that the person looked after it better. Not going to lie though that charity shop you went in had a lot of nice choice and the prices are cheaper than Norfolk.
Flame Tree are nice quality. And Waddingtons were amazing. I don’t think they make puzzles anymore. 😢
Glad you had a lovely trip. The weather was certainly better than what we have at the moment.

Our banter is what keeps our fire going. We are always cracking up afterwards 🤣
As for the Corner Piece puzzles, I honestly could've walked away with just about all of them. Such a great selection and great price. I'm very curious to get into it and see what they're all about.
I love the thatched roofs, and saw a number of them throughout our car journeys in England. I like your method for charity shop shopping, good idea! I wish my local thrift store had that selection of puzzles. It was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. Looking back at the clips, I just wish I could've brought so much more back home with me.

I love it so much for you to have a Wagij puzzle. I am from the Netherlands and i have done a few of them and a lot of them waiting for me because I’ve bought a huge pile second hand and they were on discount in the stores here. The first one you pick i have and it is one of my favorites. Yes they are hard, and im not such a good puzzler like you are but they are a lot of fun! And while making them and after finishing, the image and the details make and keep me smiling. Your Disney castle puzzle is gorgeous as well, there on my list too.

What a nice surprise to see Moomins! It's a Finnish book series that then got made into a cartoon by some Japanese animators. ☺️ Everybody here loves it and allll the kids have watched it since the 1990's. I once did a "Clementoni impossible" puzzle with nothing but Moomin faces, 1000 pieces... It was brutal 😂
I've also done the 2000 piece Thomas Kinkade Disney puzzle, with all the scenes from the classics! I really enjoyed it. ☺️ As for the brands you picked up, I've never tried them except for Ravensburger ofc, so really looking forward to hearing what they're like!

    • @thepuzzledmandy

Oh my goodness, an Impossibles Moomins sounds like insanity. They are very cute looking though 😍 I REALLY wanted to pick up that Disney puzzle, but that box was so big that there was no way I was going to be able to fit in along with the rest of my haul. I was very sad about that ☹️

Wow! I think I'm a bit jealous!!! Here in Minnesota, we can find tons of those Wasgij (which is JIGSAW spelled backwards). We also have the Something Amiss and the MIxed Up puzzles. The final picture for the last two types are not as complicated as the Wasgij but still challenging. I did try of the Wasgij and completely failed but that was years ago and my puzzling skills have really improved so think I'll pick one up again. I have been finding the puzzles in Lunds Grocery Store but will head out to the Mall of America to see if the game store there carries them too. I so hope you put the Wasgij puzzles together soon!!!!

The interplay with your husband brought it to a whole new level :) On a personal note I was thrilled to see my Professor Puzzle (the shop image, not the brand) show up in a British shop! Awesome video, loved hearing you and your husband chatting! I don't use an image for any of my jigsaws so it is always a bit of a surprise to see the finished picture (I have a general idea of course but don't study it closely before doing the puzzle). Here in Australia, Waddington's were a popular brand from the 70's-90's so I have done quite a few! And while my husband complains about my puzzle addiction, he just bought a jigsaw for me while he is overseas for work, so we'll see if the box makes it home in one piece!!

Ooh and my partner and I just finished the Pokémon challenge puzzle last week. I’m doing it again by myself. It’s fun. He pretty much did most of the puzzling n it wasn’t much of a challenge for him, then he smashed out the other 1000 piece Pokémon puzzle we have in 3 settings. He loved doing them and I reccomend too because of all the fun colours.

Hi Mandy, what a fantastic video (made me so homesick for the UK 👍). Your choices Mandy brought back happy memories. Waddingtons puzzles from when I was a wee nippa used to have a huge range of images. Gibsons puzzles are excellent, very thick pieces and fantastic connectivity. Wasgij (jigsaw backwards) as your hubby said is a quintessential British jigsaw puzzle in the cartoon style. We have several, Bear Necessities, Pooch Parlour and four others. Not as hard as you might think to construct ( we group the pieces by colour) but a lot of fun.
We fly off in September for the UK. The plane coming home is going to need extra wings if we go into those puzzling shops 🤣🤣. Warmest wishes from us two in Melbourne Australia. Mark +Chris

It was painful leaving so many amazing ones behind, but I'm very happy with my haul and super excited to try all of them.

Brilliant video, loved your haul. I'm in the Uk and have tried all these brands over the years. Waddingtons was the brand of my childhood, I really regret getting rid of the ones I had. I love wasgij, the only problem is there are so many different ones and I want to do them all 😆 . Like another comment said WHSmith are interesting due to the piece shape and false fits. I find Gibsons quality can be a bit hit and miss since they changed the way they manufacture them but the images are lovely, I did the lighthouse one you bought recently and it was lovely to do. I also do a lot of corner piece ones as the price is so affordable.

The artist Terence Cuneo, sadly no longer with us, is well known for his superb railway paintings of which he did many. I've head really good luck with puzzles from thrift stores, most of the time they are complete, with the worst only missing one piece so far.

Just watched your trip to the UK. I don't know how much you know about the Waddingtons jigsaw of Snow Hill Station. The cream boxes of Waddingtons show it is a standard puzzle with quite thin pieces as the thicker deluxe puzzles were packed in deep red boxes. The picture was painted by Terrence Cuneo who is famous for railway and industrial paintings. All of his painting feature a mouse somewhere in the picture. Have fun looking for it when you complete the puzzle

While editing through all my shopping clips, I realized there were so many more that I should've gotten, but I had to be so selective in the moment. This brand is what I'm mostly practising with, I have noticed that the piece quality is way better on older ones than they are now.

Well you certainly had a whale of a time in the UK visiting jigsaw shops. Shops in the north of the UK seem to have a much, much better selection than I can find in my home city in the South West of the UK. You had some tough choices to make but you chose some good puzzles in the end. Gibsons are one of the top brands in the UK and I've done loads of their puzzles. Corner Piece are at the cheaper end but still decent jigsaws and have a wide range of images. Look forward to seeing what you think of the UK brand jigsaws.

Congratulations on your England puzzle shopping ! It looked like so much fun. It was so nice that your husband accompanied you, helping you to become familiar with the puzzle brands he recognized and assisting you at times in converting the prices. Does your husband have any interest in working puzzles? It is simply amazing that you were able to get all those puzzles back here on the plane. Did you have to leave your extra clothes in England? I recently bought a vintage Gibson's on ebay. I haven't worked it yet but I am a little disappointed in the piece size which seems rather small for a 500-piece puzzle. I also bought a 1000 piece Waddingtons still sealed called "Twiglet Visiting His Triplikits". I've never worked a Waddingtons or a Gibson's puzzle before and they are in my "to do" pile. Happy Puzzling . . . glad to have you back!

The bookshop jigsaw and the one on top of a hill looking over rooftops of cottages are stunning. I understand your accent and your hubbies, yet the Scottish accent....no flaming clue what the heck they are saying except, Aye Laddie lol That is one thing I love about Europe.....couple of hours away and you're in a totally different country, and oh....the history. Nothing in Australia is older than 200 years old, whereas, in Europe, we're looking at a few hundred if not 1000s of years old. No building in Oz that is a few hundred years old. I absolutely love Europe. No coffee and you're all over the place....in that case, have a cigarette and get lightheaded, just to add lol Actually if you smoked a pipe, you could act as if being Mrs Sherlock Holmes lol That Canal Bistro jigsaw reminds me of Copenhagen 🙂 The bridge over the pond with lilies, I got a very similar just delivered the other day. Can't wait to put it together. Around the world in 50 plants....LOL....I wonder how high they got 🤣 Your choice of the train jigsaw...brilliant :-) Welcome back btw. Glad you made it home safe n sound 🙂 PS. To help you out, the winning numbers of this week's Lotto, so you can buy all those houses are 1- 45, 6 of them lol PSS. I checked out sites in London that were about 2000 years old...It was amazing. Honestly, the lack of my style of coffee in England almost made me want to start smoking, I was going nuts without my daily fix 🤪 Those Around the Worlds were...interesting🤣 It's been just over a week since I've got back, and I finally feeling like myself again thankfully. It was rough lolol. Now that I'm back, I probably should start playing the lotto again so that I can quit my job, buy all my houses, and build puzzle rooms in all of them. That's the life 🤩
