The Evolution of basketball has so many players that influenced the game and Nate Archibald at his size was the First Great Little Man to dominate the NBA so that we have Alan Iverson to Ja Morant .. i can remember watching Tiny Archibald destroy my LAKERS teams back in the day ..
I was fortunate enough to see about 16-17 games live in 1972-73...50 years ago, and Tiny was incredible. If the 3 was in then, his avg would have been about 40. He had a deep left handed jumper that was like a layup... automatic.
I saw Nate play in a game in his last season in Milwaukee. My brother had won 3 tickets in a drawing. My parent both came to the game where my brother got to meet Syndney Moncrief at halftime. Well I was the odd guy out with tickets so my dad bought me a single seat ticket so I could go.....The best seat they had. Which was sitting next to Nate's family in the players family section. Did they say anything to me? They sure did. They said..."Do you have a ticket for this seat"? 😄 Wonder why they thought I didn't ? Maybe it was it because I was the only white guy in that section? 🤣
Saw him play as a rookie, with the Royals, when I was a teenage. And, got to meet him, as well as his then-wife, and chat a bit at a grocery store during the summer after his rookie year. Cool and friendly. He, Norm Van Lier, Tom VanArsdale, and "Jumpin" Johnny Green were my favorite Royals back then. Sam Lacey was cool, too. The Royals were not good then, but, Cincinnati misses its basketball team. We may, however, never get another NBA franchise, because the fan base is more geared to support the Reds and , over time, the Bengals.
As a Chicago guy, I hated the Bulls because of him. Norm Van Lier and Jerry Sloan couldn’t stop or guard him so they assaulted him and lost me as a fan. That’s not basketball. That’s thug ball. Faced that a lot as a park district player. You have to use finesse and speed to overcome that criminal behavior. Nate had that skill. Today he’d be incredible because stars today get every call and flop and not allowed to touch !
@@Amick44 I think it's safe to say that Steph is the greatest deep shooter ever but he also never averaged 34 ppg or 11assists per game like Tiny did. It's no wonder Tiny blew out his achilles after all the minutes he played. The year averaged 34 and 11, Tiny averaged 46 minutes a game!
Representing the Bronx Ny !
One of the greatest if all time !
Underrated
Several years ago Tiny had a heart transplant. Successful thankfully.

I was blessed to have met him a KUTCHERS SPORTS CAMP!

I’d take him over Jordan in a heartbeat. Better teammate, prolific scorer and passer.

Greatest offensive little man ever. At least til Steph.
@@Amick44 Steph is 6foot3
@@Nightwing690 ok. So? Not exactly a "big" man in this game.
