    Glad to see you supporting the idea of a 1913 rail vs buffer tube. The precision folding 1913 stocks are the current trend with most chassis systems. I may be more on board with the ar style buffer tube or a buffer tube to 1913 adapter if the Kidd chassis had the lower indexing hole that a standard ar end plate or fixed ar stock require.
    I wish greatly for $600 you could get a 1913 on the back of this awesome Kidd chassis. The only chassis made for the Supergrades I own that actually use a rear tang. I believe a pivot any adapter on the buffer tube only hole, to mount a precision stock on a heavy rifle, is a rather Mickey Mouse fix. As the adapter wouldn’t have any anti-rotation properties.
    This also means most of the mentioned MDT stocks will not fit, as they utilize the lower indexing hole in the ar design.

    • @RimfireSS
      @RimfireSS  5 месяцев назад

      Your right on the MDT stocks having the anti rotation tabs, I didn’t notice that. They will mount up and work but the look wouldn’t be ideal. MDT does have one that would work but it’s definitely not my favorite. I’m sure there’s something out there that will work for you.

      I took the that barrel out of the Powder River Precision receiver. Kidd sent me a receiver, bolt and everything I needed to make that rifle a full Kidd build. I’ve got plans for the Powder River receiver on a new build. Need it like a hole in the head but it should be cool. And I’ve never seen this build on RUclips, so it should be cool.

    Just curious, do you prefer the regular receiver over the super grade one? I understand that the barrel locking on the super grade is superior. Could you share your thoughts?

    • @RimfireSS
      @RimfireSS  5 месяцев назад +2

      Honestly I’ve never had any issues with the regular VBlock receivers from KIDD. If the tolerance is right, when I say right I mean a thermal fit, so it requires heating the receiver to fit the barrel in. And Kidd receiver are tight, like they should be. If there is no slop between the barrel and the receiver you will never have issues like barrel droop. Some receivers like Faxon and Brownells the receivers are loose, I’ve had some that were so loose I had to get a vblock with a tensioning screw to get the barrel to sit properly in the stock or chassis. Kidd receivers are not like that, barrels fit properly like there supposed too. But it’s hard to beat the fitment of a SuperGrade.

    Don I remember you saying in a video somewhere that one magazine is more accurate than another in the 10/22 platform. What magazine is that?

    • @RimfireSS
      @RimfireSS  5 месяцев назад

      We’ll from my experience the 10 rounders are the most consistent as far as accuracy and reliability. But in some receivers like the Powder River precision it doesn’t seem to matter. The magazines fit tighter, even the 15 and 25s and I think that looseness of the 15 and 25s is what causes problems with accuracy. The bullets get damaged in feeding and that causes accuracy problems. Idk, there are a few schools of thought on modifications to correct that but I find the receivers like KIDD and Powder River don’t seem to be affected as much because of tighter tolerances.

    I know there are those who will argue till they are blue in the face about Kidd being over priced. But, from my own 10/22 experience with multiple builds, what I've read on forums about countless others buying something budget then parting it up piece by piece, in the long run getting the Kidd is the way to go. It has higher value resale if that becomes necessary versus a bucket of cheap parts, 9 out of 1o times performs better. Yes there will always be a random unicorn build that shoots lights out but that applies to anything and it is not repeatable or a reliable bet. The new chassis looks great!
