    My 1st car was a 68 with a 289 in it. Paid $2500 from original owner (older lady) in 1983 that came with the bar a/c added aftermarket. mine was Teal/Turquoise colored and my friend had the 68 Mustang with the same color. We used to park/race them together in high school. Wished I owned it today :(

      I bought a Lime Gold '68 w/ 289 in '86, drove it for a year or two until I had an engine fire. Pulled the 289, re-built it & dropped it in a '68 Mustang.

    A sign of the times...Chevy made an Elcamino LS6, of course, on the Chevelle platform.
    To me, either one is just a kick ass way to go get your groceries or a run to the hardware store.

    0:15 Errr...except for Ford Australia had already produced vehicles with the 'utility' body style that were based on the 'enclosed roof' passenger vehicle bodies since 1934!
    Lewis Bandt (in response to a 1932 letter from an unnamed Victorian farmer's wife - asking for "a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Monday", made the first one out of a 1933 Ford 4-Door Sedan (BTW - Ford Australia used a 1932 rear body section for their 1933-1934 4-door sedan models).
    Somehow then from there...Ford Australia started producing them in 1934 - based on the original Lewis Bandt design.
    The 1934 - 1940 then 1946 - 1948 models in this style were known as 'Coupe Utilities' (or aka Coupe Ute)...then for 1949-50 people called them the 'Single Spinner' Utility
    and 'Twin Spinner' Utility (or Ute) for 1951.
    Due to World War 2...Ford Australia (for the most part) didn't market any passenger models (including Coupe Utilities) to the general public from 1941 to 1945 - and most
    (or possibly all...I'm not sure?) were acquired by the military.
    I have seen a picture of a Ford 1941 Deluxe Utility that was used by the Australian Army...but I'm not sure of Ford Australia made it - or if the military created it from a
    modified 4-door sedan? It had a 'home-made' looking rear roof section.
    For 1952 to 1959 in Australia there was then the 'Mainline' Utility...which was based on Ford's Customline model's - and badged as a Mainline.
    I think in the United States the Ford 'Mainline' was a low budget or kind of optioned down Customline - with less chrome work etc?
    Each year was based on the equivalent Customline single year model vehicle...except for 1959 - was a repeat of the 1958 model (nicknamed 'Star' model).
    The 1958-1959 Australian 'Star' model Customline and Mainline had a 1955 'Canadian' Meteor grille...with 1956 Meteor (also Canadian) side chrome
    mouldings (we spell it as mouldings in Australia...instead of moldings).
    The 1957 Ford Customline Sedan and Mainline Utility in Australia were based on a 1956 Ford 'USA' model Fairlane.
    Ford Australia also had a 'Roadster' Utility at some point in the 'Model A' period of 1928-1931 that was also based on the passenger model 'Roadster' version...plus
    the rear body section was all part of the body structure - and not just a separate body and bed.
    The Roadster Utility went on in Australia from there up until 1938 I think?
    I believe there was even 1946-1948 Mercury Coupe Utilities in Australia as well?
    Anyway...Awesome feature car and video.
    Thanks! =)

      Arrrgggh, no way. IF someone changed a 1964 Impala SS wheel out it would lower it's value about $5K or more in my opinion. Those big wheels are classic and original.
      But, to each his own. For me it would be silly to disrupt all the engineering FoMoCo put into designing the vehicle. A lot of thought and money went into the production of that original piece of auto history my friend. Original retains value & saves time. And $$. Peace

    • @thenewstuff3377
      @thenewstuff3377 5 лет назад +2

      No. 67 was the last year of the GT/A designation due to the introduction of the Torino and C6. The GT/A was when the option for the new Select-o-matic was introduced. The the CJ and the blending of hi-po models happened. Looking back, it was almost silly to separate the GT from the GTA due to that not being the determining factor for a GT car. Everything was just GT until '71. After that, it was a 'Sport' model. Then the II cars...blah blah blah

    the 428 CJ 4v give 370 hp...with 440 lbs torque..

    • @rosenb37
      @rosenb37 9 лет назад +2

      @papounet2 8 лет назад +1

      yeah ... it's true... just the SCJ push 370 hp

    • @rosenb37
      @rosenb37 8 лет назад +3

      +steeve c Nope.....the 429 CJ developed 370 horsepower. Ford didn't give the 428 SCJ a different rating.

    • @ike780

      I think the 428 number was sandbaged tho. I've read it's more like 410 hp.

    • @papounet2
      @papounet2 7 лет назад +1

      just underrated..428 scj ..announced 335hp. only.. but the real output give easily 400 +.... yess the 429 cj announced 370 hp.

    What a horrible thing to see. There's a snake on the fender and GT emblem in the grill. Was the 428 CJ designation on the scoop not enough?!?! Ya want snakes, buy a Shelby or a Cobra. Gaudy. Overall nice one if he lost the snakes.
