    When I was little my dad's daily driver was a '69 black jade fastback 428cj Torino GT, just like this one except for a dark interior, and aftermarket Sears a/c.
    Damn, I wish I had that car.
    Years ago I bought an R-code shell intending to restore it. Never had the time or money, so I gave it away to an old guy who had been searching for one and promised to restore it.

    I also ownd the 69 Ford Fairlane Cobra Coupe 428 Super Cobra Jet 450 HP W/ 4 Speed W/ drag pack W/ 430-1 rear gear(but possibly 457to1 because it had top speed of 110 mph at 5400 rpm), had the 4 cobra badges front,rear and front fenders W/428 supercobra jet badge on the ram air hood scoop, yellow gold interior W/ bench seat, black jade exterior, I was 2nd owner 1971,and if I really knew what I had I would have never sold it 4 years later, I loved that car but sold it because of 2 daughters later and wasn't sure if that was all. One of the greatest cars I ever owned 🏁🇺🇸ML33MI

    Racing that Stang's 5.0 that passed me that night,I shifted out of 3rd. at about 6700 to drop into the ' breadbasket ' and show on his door I had one more gear to go.
    I had used bicycle derailer grease for less dust attraction in my Mallory so it took longer for my distributor to warm than engine but it sure made that Mallory snap once warm.
    I was at 60 /2500 warming distributor when the 5.0 aggressively passed . I didn't even down shift , just walked it up to his door ,hit 4th and in a blink he was two headlights in the mirror.
    You can't do that with newer mothers,...over the breadbasket to drop into it and launch over to drop into on next gear .
    My other Ford friends would do the same with automatics when I was young and it would leave a lot of cars behind, can't do it with new motors and you had to tune to highway not super advanced for street light jumping. Thank you for putting up with my memories, be careful wind speed with that formal roof 😎🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

  • @alking4083

    Watch your wind speed with that formal roof.
    I would park mine every day by grabbing the rear wheel well and slide it's tail over into place,had tight parking. Called it my go cart cous I could manually slide it over and get in and out of tight parking.
    Came around a curve and hit a head wind that lifted the trunk off ground and sent me airborne into the embankment.
    Fastest trunk I ever owned... even passed me😅..... passed the stang 5.0 like it was parked.
    Mine had a undersized passenger model intake w/holly 650 instead of 750 ....it was like a rubber band around it's..'thingies'.... Last gear it got was 4 th.hard rubber up the 5.0 's door,in a blink he was two headlights in my mirror.
    I also had 235/15 tires that changed my 60 in 3rd. to 2500.
    Cruising I would shift only twice...float 1st. feather touch high then slide over to 3rd. for 60 at 2500 ,the 650 holly and 235/15 ...it was effortless to leave most behind.😎🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

    Fantastic channel. Great content, just the right amount of time for my muscle car fix. Maybe think about some alternative in depth longer videos on some cars also. I feel like this channel should take off as the word gets out. Great job, keep the videos coming. 👍

      Thanks for the kinds words. I wonder sometimes if the videos are too long. I fear people don’t have the attention span for a video like this nowadays. I appreciate your comment. I guess I will make them as long as they need to be and give everyone the option to stay till the end.

    FINALLY, a content creator and owner that know what the car(s) are-'69 Cobra. '69 Sports roof, '69 Formal roof, no such thing as a '69 Torino Cobra nor '69 Fairlane Cobra. No where on the body, interior will the words Fairlane or Torino be found. Build sheets, invoices, window stickers said Cobra.
    Mid 70' my wife and I both owned a Sports roof, actually she'd had another Sports roof before I met her.

      @@musclecarcampy9922 I just recently learned a '67 Mustang could be ordered with a 427, knew they had 428 CJ available, but never seen a factory 427. Seen installed ones, even installed one in mine.
      Maybe the cost factor. I remember the dealer trying to talk mom into ordering the CJ for her LTD instead of the 427, save something like $800-1200(long time ago, can't remember the amount)but if mom wanted a 427 in her '67 LTD that's what she bought.

    • @musclecarcampy9922
      @musclecarcampy9922  10 месяцев назад +1

      There was never a factory 427 Mustang (except for a Shelby or two). It was supposed to get the 390-horse version in ‘68, but only Cougars were built with that 427.

    • @Ray56z
      @Ray56z 10 месяцев назад

      @@musclecarcampy9922 I knew I'd never seen a factory one, and I looked over most of them I was within a mile of so of for any reason.
      Didn't see something in a vid, a forum, or article that didn't seem to cause me doubt about that 427 Mustang and follow my beliefs. Almost always something said or shown that does-if I'm already 100% knowledgeable about that vehicle.
      If that wonderful Gentleman had his decals made exactly like the emblems I learned something new there. I'd bought 2 wrecked Galaxies, never noticed the "T" when stripping them for spare parts for mine. I wouldn't have used them anyway, everyone thinking it had a 390 was as I wanted.

    Them are my favorite Fairlane/Torinos, especially the fastback. Notch is a good looking car too.
    What would I change on the Sports Roof? (Pretty sure Ford called those Sports Roofs too.) I'd rather have the console and floor shift with the buckets, and a bench with the column shift.

    My distributor was a Mallory duel point w/Accel super coil. Only vac.line was pcv,only belts went to alternator.
    Put factory vac. advanced distributor I had ordered in at part store. By the time I got home it had stretched out the weight springs so bad the weights were stuck out. Put Mallory back in. Back at part store guy said he had never seen anything do that before, wanted to order another one....why stretch out another one,kept the Mallory.
    Formal roof is very dangerous air speed wise but good God was that car fun, fastest trunk I ever had ... even passed me😅😎🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

    luv the light green hardtop SCJ. This is the one I always wanted but needs the 4 spd and a different color. This was Fords original answer to the steipped down and inexpensive 383 Roadrunner. The Cobra just never sold thou in good volumes🤨

    • @Johnnycdrums
      @Johnnycdrums Год назад

      SCJ Cobra's could be fully optioned out, such as Torino GT package without Torino GT badging (replaced with snake emblems), vinyl roof, shaker hood, or not, ect. but very rare and expensive new if fully loaded.

    To be a true cobra formal roof...not Fairlane or Torino a true only titled "cobra", they had no emblems ,just 428 in red rectangle on front fender between tire and bumper and Ford on trunk. It had a code6 nascar close ratio 4 spd.,and a sun tack factory in dash,it also has a different taillight..that tail light was trapezoid blank,no reverse light in middle,the reverse light is underneath the bottom of light in a chrome strip that fit under trunk line just above bumper.
    Manual steering and manual brakes.
    I owned one and didn't know what it was till after I flew it and totaled it.
    Watch for the blank trapezoid with the reverse light below the light w/code 6 Hurst shifter close ratio nascar 4 spd. w/ sun tack factory in last dash well in front of shifter.
    That's the one they titled cobra with no Fairlane or Torino entitlement.
    The dash has no emblem...only a red, white and blue block rectangle on passenger side.
    I've looked for that tail light for 30 years haven't even found a replacement lens to druel on.
    The Vin number body shell they used was Fairlane but the package was 'cobra' only. No Fairlane or Torino emblem entitlement.
    If you find one please post it so I can see my old taillight again...and you might want to trade both of those for it...... they are really, really rare.😎🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
