Courtney, I recommend the Moptop medium hold anti-frizz gel which has more hold than the medium hold gel you have. I once bought the one you have by mistake and immediately knew the difference. I don't know why Moptop makes 2 products with such similar names!
Would love to see you try it again. I nrver consider dew points, today was rainy and my hair tuned out not as good as usual.
I would love to see a Shea Moisture video! I have also 2a 2b 2c hair and I love this brand but I'm still looking for less fly-aways less frizz and a good hold.

I'd like to see a one-brand washday with a line that's widely carried at mass retailers...something like Shea Moisture, Not Your Mother's, Cantu, Maui Moisture, As I Am...I'm not sure if *everything* in these lines is CGM approved, but I imagine at least some must be.
Most of those lines are way too heavy for her. NYM is the only one I think a wavy has a chance with, but they're still low quality and will cause buildup on hair over time. The only one I can't speak on is the new sicilian orange line, which seems to be formulated differently than the rest of NYMN. idk, I just wouldn't want Courtney compromising her hair quality for us. MopTop, Jessicurl, Raw Curls, DevaCurl, I'm sure I'm missing a few, but those are water soluble brands. The ones you listed use butters and oils which will build up on the CGM.
I have tried some of the Shea Moisture products in the past and they were WAY to heavy for my hair. I haven’t found anything other than Giovanni that are widely carried in retail stores that I love.

I've used some of the Shea Moisture shampoos with great success (Clarifying Inchi Oil Omega 3-6-9, Repairing Black Castor Oil, and the Fruit Fusion Weightless that's recommended for wavies) but have never tried their conditioners or stylers. I've also tried a handful of Cantu and NYM's products with varying results. I appreciate your feedback about quality and suitability of these brands--it keeps me, and anyone else reading this, from suffering a setback!
I got the whole line of Mop Top for my daughter and it changed her hair completely.

I have been using their products for a while now.... I love the conditioners and curl pudding. The shampoo is pretty good, but I do not have good results with the gel. I do love the fact that this a woman owned company here in the USA!!

This was sooo helpful. I recently switched to an AG shampoo and conditioner but found my wavey hair going flat rather quickly in Michigan's late summer heat and high dew points. Until your video, I didn't know about dew point and how it could ruin a good hair day plus how glycerin can work against us. AG conditioner has glycerin pretty high in it's ingredient list, so I will store the AG Balance and Boost until winter when the air inside and out is dryer. My hair usually has a LOT of flyaways, but it looked Fabulous for the first couple hours. Again, thank you for showing us your second day hair. That is just as much a part of the story as a wash day success. IMO no need to repeat the demo.
I think my hair is similar to yours. It goes straighter really easy. I also have to dry brush my hair. I hate tangles! I always forget to check dew points. I have a behairful brush that is really nice. It feels so good to brush my hair. Lol. Btw I love how shiny your hair is!! ❤️❤️

I want to suggest trying a different technique with the denman brush. Have you tried doing sections? Manes by Mell has a good demo on that brush (as do others)

Hi Courtney - I'm wondering if I'm one of the strange people who can't use MopTop shampoo, conditioner and leave in - as it makes my hair really frizzy! I can't explain. I'm not doing anything differently but these products for 2 times in a row don't like me! Do you think it's too much protein for my fine curly hair? Why do they put glycerin in everything! I love my Zotos stuff but can tell the difference on more humid days. I want to mostly use up my Zotos before buying a new line of stuff. I really enjoy watching you! My hair is fine, would you say Mop Top is too heavy for fine hair? Wavy hair is new to me, I have had straight hair my whole life, post menopause my hair is now wavy. I like it but have no clue how to work wit it.

I looked at the MopTop conditioner and noticed it has glycerin. My hair is similar to yours in terms of wave, fine, a lot of it, and porosity, but glycerin seems to split and dry my hair. Since you have problems with glycerin, I am wondering what glycerin-free products you like?
I'd love to see a vid where you share pics of your transition time along with dates. As someone with similar hair to you and 6 weeks in, it would be nice to see when things calmed down for you! When you take your hands thru your hair with your fingers its magic on video it looks like you find no tangles lol complete opposite of me and I feel you my mom and aunts were brutal with a brush but my grandmother was really nice but that's probably lol because she had curly hair

Wait I thought the curly hair custard was a gel? I've tried using it for a few weeks as a gel and my hair has nice body but is just so frizzy with it. I think it's because glycerin is like the second ingredient and it's super humid all the time here in Houston. Could the frizziness be because I'm using it as a gel, instead of like an in between product?
Can you please try out Ren Pure?? And in case I have not told you.... You have really made a difference in my hair.. I watch others and it has not worked as well as you and your ways with hair!!!

The video would be filmed over the span of a week ( or longer) and in each day of the week,
you'd film a little bit saying, "Today I [insert here] to my hair" and the next day, "Today I [insert here] to my hair" and so on for the rest of the week. I've yet to start the CG method as I'm still researching and it'd really help to see your schedule :D no pressure 2 do this though
This would be great! Alyssa Evelyn did one, and it was SO helpful and eye-opening to the fact that wavy-curly hair doesn't look perfect or the same every day, but it can still look great.
@@karissathatcher9206 As soon as I started reading Pastry Rebel's comment, I thought, "Who did I watch do this? It was so good!" and voila, you had the name. It was Alyssa E. I second this "a week in the life" idea. I found her video truly helpful. I also find it very useful when other wavies show quick-and-easy hairstyles (baby top knots, side pony, pinned small braids...) to work around stretched out curls when one doesn't have time to do a proper refresh and reshape.
Would love to try Moptop!!! It looks amazing! Sadly I can only buy Zotos products, Moptop is still not in Mexico ): Im sad the products you can get are overpriced +$20 dollars at Amazon MX but the medium gel is at $120 dollars. /: I hope Sally beauty will ship that soon over here.
Hi courtney! I know you have said many times you never really get a curl cast on your hair and I am similar. But have you ever tried adding more gel after using a microfiber towel or t shirt to scrunch some of the water out? I do this and I find I do get a semi cast to my hair.
If I don’t want to diffuse, do I just keep it plopped until it’s dry? If I let it air dry, wouldn’t it pull my curls down?
I have noticed that when I root fluff that it causes my waves to break up and additional frizz. Any tips??

What do you think of ph balace of hair products. I have learned that for high porosity hair ideal range is ph 4.5 to 5.5.
I've been using the InnerSense I Create Volume product in my hair. After I apply it and scrunch out the crunch, it looks like my hair is either oily or wet. Am I applying too much of it into my hair? I have to use a good amount so my curls hold. Any suggestions?

I saw it at Sprouts health food store, and Amazon has it as well, it's not just for babies and has a curl tamer as well as a deep conditioning treatment. I'm thinking about trying it at some point. Still plugging away at the Shea Moisture Jamaica Black Castor seed oil S&C, but my hair is definitely growing! It could be the fenugreek seed tea refreshing spray tho. 🤔🤔😄😄

@@rebeccapena9251 - You make it. It's Super easy! Get some fenugreek seeds from a local health food store, or off Amazon, use a glass bowl and put 1 tablespoon of the seeds in about 8 to 10 ounces of filtered, or distilled, water. Cover and let them soak over night, or about 8 hours. Strain the "tea" off the seeds into a spray mister bottle and use to refresh your curls and scalp every other day. It has a pleasant smell, but doesn't linger. Save the seeds! You can do a couple more things with them. Sprout them and throw them in with whatever you might put in a smoothie to drink, or toss into a salad to eat, or blend up the sprouts with a banana and an avocado for a hair mask (be sure to pour through a strainer). They're good for you both internally and externally! Pretty sure I got these recipes from GreenBeauty or Curly Proverbz, both have some good info and DIY videos. 🙄😊👍
