This was very helpful! I just used the MopTop Custard yesterday for the first time. I was concerned because of the glycerin, but it left my hair bouncy, defined, and shiny! So far, this has been my favorite!

Really great detail on the differences. I have not tried TreLuxe yet, but have it on my wish list. I have tried MopTop Custard many times (I love the smell) but I just can not get it to work for me. It is as if I put nothing on my hair...and now that the dew points are high, I cannot use it. I am now testing Uncle Funky's Daughter, which seems great, but I'm learning to not have such a heavy hand. Also, it is eye-opening to hear someone talk about not liking big clumps. My hair is so fine and thin (low density) that I felt like I needed the big clumps to make it look moisturized. Reading your posts and watching you channel is eye-opening...I don't have to have big clumps! I focused on this today and so far the results are better. Thanks so much!
So glad to hear that! Yeah people love the Hi! Definition gel but I like others better. It's so easy to use too much then it's stringy and weighed down. But it is good for humidity.
The Hi! Definition Gel's third ingredient is a humectant.
I have fine, medium porosity and density 2B-3A and had a very similar experience with these products. I love the mop top custard and get several days of hold and bouncy, light looking curls while the treluxe seemed dry and weighed down almost. Totally agree on the fragrance too. I prefer the mop top. The treluxe gel might work better come Kansas summer with high dew points since it is glycerin free and my hair is sensitive to over moisturizing through humectants in high dew points.

I leave in the Caribbean and the only product I use with glycerin is Moptop curly custard, it doesn’t frizz my hair and it’s my favorite product, also I love the smell.
Yes! Some of us love glycerin, even in the humidity. I will have to see how my hair does in the summer here with it.

What firm hold gel do you recommend for fine wavy hair?
Giovanni LA Hold is great. I also like Raw Curls firm hold but it has glycerin so not great for humidity.
