@@Mister_Phafanapolis the almighty ae1200wh, I do miss my IWC UTC to be honest, but time stands still for no one, so better to have loved and lost and all that jazz :)
The beeping time feature is for the visually impaired… not a useless feature, but a fantastic one. It is absolutely sacrilegious to compare it to a Casio, come on man, it’s like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Hyundai. Sure the latter has more features, so if you want features, buy junk. I’ve had mine for over 20 years and love it and the attention it brings my way. Often times folks treat me different when they see my Breitling.
Great reviews! I’m a huge Aerospace fan. Had the original 40 mm Aerospace and own two Aerospace Evo(s): the yellow dial anniversary limited edition (156/300) and a beautiful blue dial. The newer rubber mesh straps with adjustable buckle are even more comfortable and better looking. I just acquired the 3rd generation Aerospace B70 Orbiter. Nick, you should do a review. The new B70 movement has many improvements you would like. But, there are a couple of problems Breitling needs to address. The alarm/countdown timer beeper sound is so low that it is unusable. I think the sound is muffled by the Orbiter balloon material in the caseback. Two, there is a problem with the hour hand losing time. I am going to send the watch back to Breitling Service for evaluation. Other than that, a beautiful watch.
Thank you nick for a great comprehensive and real detail of the watch experiace for example the timer always reset to 0. Scratch results on a titanium. Alarm not loud enough. This is really good information. I hope its time for britling update the watch with solar charging reception, titanium with dura tech treatment, add pushers to quickly move between complications
Best bet for recognizing some of your original purchase is to trade it with another collector that is taking a bath on their original purchase. Something like an IWC Mark (?) or Aquatimer or a B&R or Bremont or X of some variety. Those drop like rocks on the second hand market as well and if you ever really need the cash, you can still get the $$ you would have received if you sold the Breitling.
Hey, Nick. Looking at how many videos you devoted to this “way behind” Breitling I think you’re just in love with it )) Seriously, just compare amount of time you spent for reviewing this Breitling and spent for Casio and you’ll see which watch is “way behind” 🙃
Great follow-up review. I've become quite fond of anilog-digital watches but this Breitling is way out of my price range. As such, I've been really enjoying a Casio Lineage LCW-M100TSE-1AJF which offers a lot of the same capability and is also titanium. It even remembers my timer setting, lol.
Hey, a couple of interesting quartz watches I've run across recently: The Casio Baby G MSG line, and the Citizen Eco Drive One ultra thin dress watches. The former are dressier, steel-cased G Shocks with one or two round digital displays, more in line with mechanical watch dial layout. They're all world time capable, and the JDM models also multi band atomic clock sync capable. They're between $80 and $200 bucks, which seems like a steal. The Citizen is absurdly thin, and they dress it up in precious metals, etc. It's *expensive*. This is one of the few watch channels that manages anything like objective distance from the subject, and I appreciate it. It's nice to see less obsession with where a watch comes from, and more attention to what it does, and how it does it. Citizen and Casio seem to be doing lots of interesting things (the Altichron, e.g., is an amazing field instrument with a very clever designed analog display, all at the price of a swiss watch strap). Anyway, I'd be interested in watching you review these watches and/or other odd and interesting stuff that's mostly ignored on RUclips. Thanks!
What are some other comeptitive options besides the Casio Oceanus? Something like the G-Shock GWR-B1000 and MTG-B1000 have the same functionality but much chunkier styling than the Oceanus and Breitling.
With due respect, I just don't see the comparison between the Casio Oceanus that Nick endorses as an affordable equivalence and alternate to the Aerospace. True, these things are often a matter of opinion, and mine is that the two share little in common expect some functionality. I own an Aerospace Evo like Nicks. The titanium construction combined with the cockpit instrument look and wide-ranging functionality are what attracted me in the first place, and what keep me smiling. The Casio Oceanus would not have gotten a second look simply because it does not at all resemble the Aerospace. I think something like the Casio WVA-M650D-1AER Waveceptor would bear a closer resemblance, particularly with the dual read-outs, and a few additional features that Nick would have liked to see on the Aerospace. Perhaps the watch that resembles the Aerospace most in appearance and function (particularly the earlier Aerospace models) is the Tissot PR50 Titanium, actually nicknamed the “Aerospace”. All-in-all a good review, so thanks for that Nick.
Nick, have you had to change the battery yet? You've owned it since early 2018 (based on your first review video) so I'm guessing you must have burned through a battery by now. Was your local authorized dealer able to change it, or did it have to go back to Switzerland?
I sent the Aerospace B70 Orbiter back to Breitling Service yesterday to fix the hour hand losing time. I also asked them to do something about fixing the countdown timer/alarm beeper sound, but they probably won’t. Anyone know how to contact Breitling CEO, to let him know the new Aerospace has problems? Too bad, because the watch is beautiful and the B70 quartz movement is much better in other respects. It will be interesting to see how long this takes. They said two weeks for evaluation, then . . . ?
Just discovered your channel - great stuff! Completely agree with your comments, positive and negative. I've always wanted an aerospace it looks great but apart from a countdown timer it does nothing my Seiko Arnie doesn't do. Plus it's solar and 200m waterproof. I know watch buying shouldn't be based on logic but 3k is a lot of money! Keep up the good work
Great review Nick! I have one now for 3+ years. Although it’s a beautiful watch, battery life is an issue. I had mine sent in to Breitlings service center cause their authorized dealers are not allowed to change the battery! Besides the high cost of doing so, it took Breitling 6 weeks to change it!!! No apology given. In fact, nobody cared. This is crazy for a quartz watch and terrible service. You know I used to be able to walk into any dealer and get the battery changed in 10 mins. Done. I will not buy a Breitling again, I feel ripped off, especially at this price point for a new quartz watch!
As things go everything is preferences I still prefer the breitling And think the casino is ugly. But my tastes Change too. I am now spending more money on a knife then I thought I ever would. There is a cost to everything how much are we willingly to spend to have or use an item in some areas it’s gone up in others it’s gone down.
@@DougE.phresh The T-Touch. The T-Touch Solar Expert II has an even better movement with crazy things like a compass and barometer. But Breitling needed to stick to an 'in house movement' so they didn't use the better one from ETA that Tissot used.
Hi ! I know I'm a little bit late but I discovered that the countdown timer actually keeps the time you've set on previously, even if it says 00.00 you just have to push the crown and the timer will start with the last time you set. Did you try this ? I do not own this Breitling (I hope one day...!) but I have Tissot T690 with the ETA 988.333 movement, similar to the first Breitling Aerospace. I agree! That's why my next one is a very nice $300 mechanical options, and the next three on my table are under $150. There's something to be said for reviewing the full gamut, because without the high-end, it's hard to tell what's missing when it is, but without the low end to keep perspective, you veer off into insanity. So I'll keep reviewing a mix.
