One of my favourite fragrances of all time. Takes you back to the sea, salty air and summer sun right away.
Spot on review of a true masterpiece in the fragrance world. About a year ago I went on my first offshore charter fishing trip while on vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was a beautiful, sunny day and as we left the relative calm of the bay and headed out to deep ocean water I kept getting hit with sea spray standing on the bow of this small fishing vessel. Sel Marin, for me, captured this very personal moment...right down to the almost agressive atomizer Heeley provides with this bottle. And to me, the ability to invoke an emotional response from a fragrance constitues art. Thanks again for another fantastic video review, I never miss one from you.

by now (end of 2023) are there some other marine / beach fragrances you would recommend?
This scent really is high art. I think it is polarizing and challenging, like my favorite works of art, and for that I agree with the "masterpiece" status. When I first smelled this, it had that rare revolting/compelling paradoxical position that I enjoy in the fragrance world. In the end, I just couldn't stop smelling it on the paper. When it's scent left the paper (after a few days), I returned to the store where they carry it, and sprayed it on paper again, and I carried it around town, sniffing at it like a fiend. That's the thing. I love it on paper, I just don't really want it on my skin. I may try it on my skin someday, but until then, I will continue stealing whiffs of it from the fragrance shop. Cheers!
Love your reviews! Sel Marin is one of my scents for work during the hot days in summer :) Even though it's a bit avantgarde I've only had positive reactions. It's decent enough not to offend others but present enough to be noticed if somone is attracted by the smell. And what I love most is that I feel like coming straight out of the ocean and I can have little daydreams at the office :D

Thanks for an interesting review - I haven't tried Sel Marin yet, but it sounds like Sel de Vétiver by The Different Company might be an interesting alternative to it, they both play with the same theme.

Excellent review mate! I do agree - this is an artistic masterpiece.
It is very hard for me to wear though, as I'd rather go with an aquatic that is more pleasant to others. Not to say that this one is unpleasant, but it doesn't seem to have that "wow factor" to the untrained nose.
Hello do you think u could make a video on how to apply Cologne the right way because honestly I'm not sure if people like myself are doing it right maybe you could show us how you apply yours it would be so helpful.
Sadly this is the only Heele I have tried that I didn't care for... I am a big fan of the house but not of this fragrance... I can appreciate it for what it is trying to do but I just don't personally care for it... Great job as always Steven...

Is "caylon" (sp) in Nautica Voyage as well?
It’s an excellent salty marine fragrance. Although performance lacks it’s just not there. One has to reapply like every 20 min. It’s a great skin scent.
it just arrived in the mail WOW! it is even better than expected I love CALONE & this is a fantastic application the marine/sea salt comes thru loud & clear perhaps making this the best oceanic on the market I find this very wearable especially here in the tropics JIM from MIAMI BEACH

Really surprised why there's no love , at all, for Heeley's Eau Sacree.
got a sample and had to have it but soo expensive :( I'm only in college lol but i might have to shell out for it... for me this scent smells soon gooooooodddd to me i couldn't careless what people think.

Does this smell like Tom Ford costa azzura? I heard this called the true Niche version of that scent.
They're very different. This one is very salty and not as mass appealing.
Like salty smells but fishy is a no no. Bvalgari Aqua does a nice job of capturing ocean in a bottle.
I have to disagree when you say that this fragrance is ‘too salty’.
The ‘salty’ effect is worked in a very skilled manner by using patchouli in a very low proportions with aromatic notes like sclary sage, seaweed, ambre gris, and oakmoss. Because of this the ‘salty’ effect stays present even after the aquatic notes evaporate. If you choose to buy this fragrance and wear regularly, you’ll notice that the base notes evolve to give off a very musky-chypre like effect.
It's pretty salty. Sometimes when I wear it, my lips get that dehydrated feeling similar to when you eat too much popcorn or something salty. I really like the scent though.
This is even saltier than Bvlgari Aqva. It's much better though. I actually think this has more mass appeal than you give it credit for. Some people may hate how salty it is though, I suppose.
This one really isn't grabbing my attention, but excellent review nonetheless. Holy crap! that's a powerful atomizer...kinda sprays like me when I have been without kisses and cuddles for a couple weeks.(lol)

This one smelled liked raw oyster juice to me.
The overwhelming rotting fish smell is what I get. 🤮🤮
