Years ago, I repaired pipe organs and pianos....many times I have opened up an organ console and was shocked by the previous persons work, or lack thereof! It was a shame that because the work was hidden from view...the previous technician would do a poor job. So the church would end up paying twice for the same work. Somebody to first mess it up...then me to fix the mess. It used to bother me greatly.
Really, Steve, your channel is amazing in so many ways: I could feel how upset you were about the shoes being ruined; about wanting to help the person who made the mess out of them. I could feel you actually being down about taking the sole apart, your growling stomach (nerves). Your sighs. I don't know of anytime I've watched an upload anywhere that I could hear someone talk and know they were as upset as you were. I remember those black current candies as my favorites when I lived in Canada. Those numbers remind me of the different sized custom letters, numbers and cut and hardened them and tempered them. I’m satisfied every time I use them still.

I completely understand how you feel doing this job. It shows that you take you're work seriously but also that you care about your customers. My husband and I own a swimming pool construction business and we are routinely called in to fix problems that other businesses have caused. In the end the customer is the one who is hurt and that just seems so unfair to me.

My own dad passed away two years ago. Going through his possessions I picked up one of his old tools and started a second profession.
