I saw this game setup at GenCon this year and was floored by how gorgeous it looked. I didn’t get a chance to ask about it (my own fault, not the fault of any of the friendly people running the booth) but coming back home I found this video and it has sold me on the game. Thanks for a great tutorial, I am looking forward to owning and playing this!
Jorun Holm - Forts negate the first hit from an opponent. And they automatically hit one opponent's unit. Very powerful for defense minded people. But do not build too many at once, since this counld hinder your building and expanding into new provinces!
I have a question about the building phase. The black player builds a control marker in Sicilia 11:05 and then a legion in Libya. 15:56 under his move phase he decides to move the legion to Sicilia. But He could if he wanted to build the Legion directly in Sicilia right? And the movement where not necessary?
Well, yes that is corrrect if it was possible to build a control marker there. But Carthage may not build a control marker at Syracuse as it is neither an adjacent nor adjoining province at the beginning of its turn
I am sorry but there are just too many mistakes in this video for this to be a good tutorial. 1) Carthage may not build a control marker at Syracuse as it is neither an adjacent nor adjoining province at the beginning of its turn. 2) New Heroes and Wonders (to replenish those bought in the build phase) do not become available immediately but at the end of the build phase. 3) Conversion does not happen at the end of the conqueror´s next move round but at the beginning. 4) There is no 6 at the blue dice :-) 5) Explanation of the trade phase is simply insufficient. Vital rules of the trade are not explained at all. 6) As an Egypt you definetelly not not want babylon to go first as your goal is to be in Jerusalem by the end of the first round. It is not against the rules it is just a bad hint. Same came as buying Antigone thus dicarding 2 resources. You may keep culture leadership simply by taking Jerusalem and building a city and a fortress there which is simply much better move in the first round 7) How is building the 5th hero or wonder a secret way to win I really do not have an idea. It is in fact the most obvious one from them all. Although in general I like the video it is a huge downside that it makes beginners think they may do something where in fact they may not and as a bonus they receive bad strategy tips. huge potential ruined. This video could be so much better if it was made correctly.
Had our first game on Sunday at the games club ... SUPERB!!! (Can u tell I won as Caesar!) ... but got a little confused on a minor (major?) step ... 19:40 - Occupy Control Marker. In the video, it says change the marker at the END of the Conqueror’s next Move & Battle phase, but in the rulebook it says at the BEGINNING? ... Which is right, thanks, Walts.
Sorry I don't understand. First you say: "a player can keep up to 2 goods for the next round." And then in the example the player had to discard the two goods. So what is it?
Jonn, I cannot find the section you are referring to. A player can keep up to two Gold for the next round, but must discard any other types of Goods. Unless, they have the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, which allows the player to keep any two types of resources. Sorry for any confusion and good catch. Uwe
in a 3 player game, it say to cover the right part of the game board which covers yellow and purple. so does that mean that purple and yellow can't be played?
LOL - That is the German coming out in me... :) I noticed this when the video was done, but did not think that anyone would really notice... hmmm... wrong call.
Didn't explain what happens with the trade amount markers. A person watching this has no idea why there are 3 spaces for them and under what circumstances you can and cannot reuse a trade amount marker.
Out of hundreds, this is the most exemplary round playthrough ever seen on the Internet.
Congrats!!!!
The trading mechanism in this game is fantastic! It's unbelievable how simple it is to understand and how many heavy yet quick decisions it leads to.

We're glad you like it. We should have the giant maps back in stock on our website in the next several weeks.
Best board game intro video even seen.
Very nice explanation, gorgeous animations. Well done
Thanks for the 1st round play through. The rules aren't that clear cut. Now that I have watched it I will be having a go at it in the next few days.
Great video. Can’t wait to play

Why aren’t you responding to all the mistakes highlighted in the comments?

Would Babylonia get to place their free loyalty token (starting hero ability) before or after Cultural Leader decides who builds first?
It's so cool that they got Kermit to narrate this.
LOL - :) Love Kermit! - Uwe
Can you buy a new hero from the depot in any phase?
No, only during the Purchase Phase.

Well done!
what are legendray trade goods good for?
Guaranteed different good from the regular ones so it's easier to make sets, if I remember right.

It as well was bothering me.

Its nothing in the big picture. Love the game, I can tell you that!

한글판 하고싶어~~~
That would be great! - Uwe
The longer I watch the video, the less I wanna play that game...
