  • There are no tornadoes in this video, but there is distant siren ambience, and a Federal Signal 2001-130 about 1200 feet away sounding off in ATTACK mode that you can briefly see as it rotates. I have included storm footage with a lightning strike and scary looking clouds. After the 2:15 time mark, there is only heavy rain with a distant Whelen 2910 electronic siren activation in University Park. It's a steady (ALERT) tone. I did add the audio of one of their siren monthly tests to enhance the video. This video is at the Timbercreek Square Shopping Center filmed from a parking garage. I was outside earlier that day when suddenly the distant sirens turned on and sounded in wail tone (ATTACK MODE). Northeast Dallas did not get any tornadoes, but there was a tornado south of me in Lancaster that did lots of damage. There was the potential for a tornado to form in Dallas, and this is why the tornado warning got issued by the National Weather Service. It's hard to believe 10 years have gone by since that day. There is a RUclips video link if you want to see another person's video of the Lancaster tornado on the day I filmed this video. Another tornado occurred in Mesquite on this day, as well as other areas in the Dallas / Fort Worth vicinity. April 3, 2012 will be a day long remembered for the massive tornado outbreak.

If you knowest sense in the 1950s to 2009 the old system they use to sound of Thunderbolt 1000's and 1000T's before all 2001-130's sounded off for the first time sense 2010.

They ran a little later than 2009 -- I want to say I heard them into summer of 2011.

I could be wrong, but I remember driving down Northwest Highway in Dallas near Buckner Boulevard during a tornado warning after getting my car serviced. I was going as fast as I could trying to get home into my garage but got hit with lots of ¾" or nickel size hail, and this was around 2008 if I remember right. I heard the 2001-130 siren from Flag Pole Hill howling as I got bombarded with the hail. Thankfully it did not Crack the windshield. In 2002, I remember the last time I got to hear a Thunderbolt siren sound for a tornado warning when I was near Valley View Mall, so I got to their parking garage ASAP and avoided the heavy rain and hail.
