I understand that if you weren’t doing a educational clip at the same time you would finish it off a lot quicker but I’d like to calculate if the investment in a fiber laser is worthwhile compared to hand engraving using gravers. This was done with our fiber laser! Check out our laser list there are links in the description! Or check out our buying guide: www.lasereverythijg.net/lasers
Gold plating not really, depends on the core metal because you're going to blast through the plating looking at it the wrong way. Solid gold a little more likely. In reality it's a dark brown, just need to slooooooow your pass down. Takes a little trial and error.
Ezcad isn't really a vector editing software, its much closer to a simple interface with the laser. I highly recommend inkscape, affinity designer, or adobe illustrator to craft your vectors.
As I can see there is a cross hatch in the engraving process.. But when you show your hatch settings cross hatch or auto rotate aren't checked.. Can you please tell me the correct and complete hatch settings? Thank you in advance!
Thanks for the clarification. Your final hatch looks really good. One of my friends bought a 50W laser machine and after 3 months of playing with it we cannot get a nice looking hatch on gold. On silver looks ok but on gold far from what it should be. The only way to get a clean filled text on gold is to import the text in ezcad like a picture and engrave it like that (with the settings used for photos). It looks good and it takes even less time. Photos look ok either on gold or silver.. the problem is that as far as I know you cannot engrave photos/pictures using the rotary tool. So for inner and outer ring engraving the only solution is to use hatch. What I did and looked nice was only to engrave the text contour after applying an 0.05mm offset 3 or 4 times, so you get a thicker contour.
@@LaserEverything I'm using EZCAD3 since today. Everything is new and I don't know where to start to get the right parameters for Golf and Silver. I was able to do some marking on some Keys. It's an amazing technology. Many thanks for any content and for taking time to do them.

It looks like you have an outline on the text. How are you achieving this? I didn't see the 'Mark Contour' checked off when you created the hatch. Is this what you did? Thank you very much for your help!
It looks like you have different settings for the outline of the text because it is darker than the inner part of the text. Please let me know how you did it. Thank you very much!
I had the same question; I think it was debris/smoke stain from the engraving. When he wiped the gold with the MF cloth at the end of the video it wiped away.
The laser is vaporizing the gold so there's no way to really recover the loss but if you're doing an engraving as fast and shallow as shown in the video the weight loss is going to be negligible.
How can I make sure that when I write the text, it doesn't play left and right, but stands still like in your video and how to set up the engraving to engrave a surface that is at an angle like yours, in mine only one hundred percent flat surface must be

I’m a jeweller and I’d be inclined to weigh the piece before and after engraving and see how much metal is actually removed by the process. Once you know how much (or how little) you can extrapolate knowing how much precious metal engraving you actually do per week/year and from that you can calculate the return versus the cost of specialised extraction system/filters and refining of the metals. I usually only refine my lemel (scrap metal filings) once a year and it’s worth saving but I don’t know if it’s removed from the original piece as a vapour or as small molten pieces? I’m very interested in finding out myself!

I like your videos. I am thinking of buying a Laser called SCULPFUN S9 Laser because I can not afford such a nice laser as you have. Do you think that this 90w laser can do as good a job as yours. Can you perhaps explain the difference?
90w is a LOT of power, what do you want such a high power laser for? The difference between manufacturers is stark. Buying a high quality laser is important in this industry. Wiring quality, fiber optics quality are two big areas where you see a big difference between higher end machines and the cheap ones. You also get more reliable power supply units and with the super cheap lasers you often get knock off laser sources which is the box generating the laser. There's a very long list of reasons why you should spend more. Save for more time if you can and put some extra money away, then make your purchase. Not only are super cheap fibers unreliable, they can be dangerous with melted wires and fiber optics. Be careful!
Engraved a gold necklace using your settings; it turned out great! Thanks for sharing!

You can do it with a fiber up to about a millimeter. Recommend 50+ watts for cutting.
Also looking at lasers - 30w or 50w? Why 50w (What's the purpose?)

Rather than using a cross hatch I used the second hatch with an opposite hatch angle. Cross hatch is fine too, however you want to do it.
Does the gold be more wastage?
Depends on how deep you go but for shallow marks the gold loss is negligable.

I usually only refine my lemel (scrap metal filings) once a year and it’s worth saving but I don’t know if it’s removed from the original piece as a vapour or as small molten pieces?
I’m very interested in finding out myself!
Hi, might I know how to show all the text to engrave before engraving?
F3 > Other (tab) > Red Light Pointer (button) > Enable Show Contour (check box)
how many watts fiber Laser friend
30w
In lightburn, would I run a line mode on the letters first and then run a full with the white finish?
Thank you this really did teach me a few things :)
You're welcome, glad it helped.
@@LaserEverything can i have the file for parameters you use plese
We'll slowly do videos on new parameters each week, keep an eye on the channel. Just uploaded a new parameter yesterday!
Hello Alex, Will this work on Jewerly that 14k or 18k gold plated over stainless still or would you recommend different settings?
Should be fine, just know you're likely going to be completely removing the plating with settings like this.
How can we buy this laser machine
Links to the buying guide in the description :)
You don't have the link to your fiber laser
Ya, I would like to know what it its too
@@jessicaliu7424 that does not tell.me what machine it is. And your website looks horrible cant even navigate it properly. Note you your web developer... do not put white letters with a light gray backround cant read shit. And the site is so hard to navigate it looks like a scam site.....
Linked in the description now :)

Thanks for this video, i own a laser marker 30w and i'm really intrested to the focus video, i really need it, thank you again!
Thanks for watching! 😊
Question, your configuration for engreave gold besides words, does it work the same way for photographs?
It can if your bitmap is good. I'll do a video on this soon.
Hi, Alex
Thank you for the video.
I have followed the instruction of your video, but the letters are not engraved with the black lines around the edges. What is missing here?
Also, when I click on the 'Select param from library', it doesn't show the list of parameter settings like yours does. How do I get the list of these settings?
In your hatch setting make sure you select "mark contour". As for the parameters I built them myself. May create a public folder with them in the future.
Price please?
I charged probably $45 for this.
Hi, how much watt minimum for the laser can write?
Absolute minimum for fiber should be about 10w
Thanks
great stuff. one question when doing your red light framing, how do you get the lettering to show up so clearly. mine seems to run very fast and hard to see. the box is fine but not the letters.
The link to the co2 laser that you use is broken, which laser is it?
Link updated, top listing.
i have a 50 watt laser and with the same setting it keeps coming out darkish, any recommendations? i{m juzt 30 hours in to the laser, would love some help!
This was on a 30w so you'll have to drop the power or raise the speed! We have links on the description for starter settings packs for you. Also watch our video "everything you need to know about galvo lasers" if you're new!
Hi, I am from India i am working as goldsmith laser work can i get the ideas of how to recover gold powder from laser machine i have been losing of all gold powder same working in Ezcad
Hey Mani, thanks for watching! Unfortunately from what I've seen there is currently no good solution for recovering gold powder left over after the engraved gold is vaporized. If you find a solution be sure to let us know so we can share that info. Thanks!
I bought a laser engraver to engrave a gold plated necklace and it won’t even make a dent in it . I did some research and I think I figured out that the engraver I bought didn’t have enough laser power for the material I was looking to use it on 🤦🏾♀️. Do you have a recommendation for what amount of laser power I should be looking for when buying a laser engraver based on the material I’m looking to engrave (highly reflective gold plated 316l stainless steel) ?
When I hit light it's not showing anything
Could be a lot of things. Check out our links in the description to our Discord or Facebook group so we can take a closer look.
taking the opportunity, would you have any video about photo recording using only ezcad or corel + ezcad? what configuration do you use of power, speed and frequency you used in the 30w?
Script is already written for this one and it's in the queue to be shot soon! If you don't want to wait definitely join the discord and ask around in there!
@@LaserEverything very good, yes i already entered the discord, very good there.
I asked in the fiber laser chat, if you can share I appreciate it :)
Because I'm really in a hurry :/ I have some graduation symbols to engrave the background in bas-relief like in the photo I posted there. my user is bugnotto.
Thank you very much for your attention friend
I've only used Corel draw a couple times and have quite a bit of learning to do before I feel confident about making video about it! I don't even own a legit copy of it lol I will try to prioritize this and work on it for you though. Most vector editing software works more or less the same the buttons just have different names. Have you watched my episode on artwork for engravers?
It's not exactly what you asked for but it should at least help get you started.

i have been looking for a gold jewelry laser engraver that is not so expensive thank you
yep!
your video is great, i would like to know if you did a photo engraving in gold?, i ll appreciate the parameters please, i couldnt.. .
Usually using a halftone generator on a raster image is the best way to get photos into metal. I'll do a video on this soon.
I was wondering if you would be willing to share with me the setting on your laser to cut have a platinum or light engraving.
I own 30 watt machine
Parameters will be released soon, keep an eye on the channel!
Awesome Video! How does one get all the parameter settings? Like the White Steel Brush and the Brass setting?
They are free on our website, we're able to share that thanks to the community members who support us on the channel and the LMA network :)
Hey Alex! Are you able to laser engrave grillz by chance? I can email design over if so? Thank you sir great video!
We aren't currently accepting jobs but I'm sure you could find someone to take it on in our discord server or facebook community. They're free to sign up and have lots of talented engravers.
Thank you so much for your videos would you mind sharing with me your white cleanup mark settings that'd be so helpful thank you
I'm setting something up soon to share my full library of parameters with viewers.
That was awesome! Thx for posting it
You're welcome!
@@LaserEverything Any chance of doing some more videos - I just got a 30w fiber laser and trying to learn as much as I can :) your tips on the tracing was awesome!
What would you like to see? I love making videos. It's hard to do regular uploads on the channel and run the shop but I do enjoy it.
@@LaserEverything totally understand. Ill think of a good one that will help others as well 👍😎
I like your videos.
Be careful!
Thank you
Welcome!
Thank you for the video. Is your machine 100w, 50W, 30W or 20W?
Did you watch the video? He says what it is. LOL
It's a 30w :)
