Someone once told me that when you cry it's not that you're weak, it's because your spirit is too strong to be contained.
yeah that person was lying to you
M McBride it’s true. www.yourtango.com/2016293405/people-who-cry-during-movies-are-strongest
Trent Michael or you can be so out of touch with your feelings like yourself, you don’t understand true emotion. Feeling strong and being strong are two separate things. Something only a strong person understands.
Trent Michael that’s your belief. And that’s ok. Doesn’t make it true. Like the old adage goes, you never know how strong a person is until they have no other choice. And that’s not Day to day shit, that’s real shot, death of a child, spouse, or divorce, real things. When you go through shit like that and have no fall back you learn how strong you are. If you have then, you understand it, Until then, your opinion is that, yours.
Trent Michael “you’re young” and you are talking about presuming to adults. I don’t need clarification because your arguments are baseless and void of substance. What are you 30, 35, 40 and think you have it figured out? And you are preaching about running with assumptions when you ran with one that is so far off you have no clue. You’re clueless bro.
I have "my love for you is everlasting" tattood on my arm in memory of my son who's heart stop beating at 18 weeks inside the womb. This song means more to me now than it ever did before.
I'm so sorry about that. It sucks to lose a family member, especially your child. This song makes me think about my grandmother who passed away when I was 9,5 years ago. Here I am, turning 15 in a few months and I still live with guilt from it. My mother even blamed me for her death which she now regrets but yeah. This song makes me think of my grandmother and I'm happy about it.
I am sorry bro 😢
I lost a sister I never got to meet. It’s a hard thing to deal with, and I’m real sorry man. Great tattoo idea too.
He is looking down on you happy
Amazing my guy, the love you have, no one can ever take that away ❤
I just want both of them permanently in the band.
Fuck Yes!
Same, check out signal fire they both sing in that one.
Signal Fire!
Jesse leach is in the band he is the original vocalist for the band
"It won't be long, we'll meet again."
Alex: "ohhhhhhh"
Me: 😭😭😭😭😭
That’s some real shit you shared with your personal life. Respect.
Jason Kirkland thanks my man
@@AlexHefner Killswitch have always had some of the best non-cringey emotional lyrics
@@AlexHefner mad love brotha
@@AlexHefner If your Dad has the opportunity to see you but doesn't grab it, then that's on him. You clearly had a good Mum to fill the gap. I'd proud if you were my son - and you're the right age! 👍
@@AlexHefner I know exactly what you mean. Relationship with both my dad and mom degenerated. Parents divorced, no contact with my dad for 11 years. My mom committed suicide and the irony is that it brought peace at a certain level, relieve if you will. At the same time a ton of extremely intense emotions, as well. Thanks for sharing, this kind of relatting to situations in RL, even online through RUclips, has a healing effect
I still tear up when I hear this song. So good.
Alex: Who do you like more? Jesse or Howard?
Me: Yes.
Alex: Which one?
Me: I said yes.
Howard hands down 👇 Howard is the best
Howard
Howard
Howard is better.
Howard,100%. Killswitch Engage wouldn't be well-known without Howard. 👌🤟🪕🎶🎸🎼
This is a beautiful song. My wife and I dedicated it to our daughter that was stillborn. The passion in Howards voice is amazing.
She is always with you guys, that type of love is everlasting and nothing can take that away❤
Killswitch Engage means so much to me, I'm so glad you did this.
kse added so much righteousness in my life.I hope you feel the same! :)
Killswitch engage is how I got into metal
KE is incredible
I lost my mom suddenly on Tuesday. I've heard this song a million times but never actually fully read the lyrics. Had my first ugly cry reading along to the lyrics in another tab.
Tell people in your life that you love them, you never know when it'll be the last time. Thank you Alex for doing this song, it's what I needed.
🙏
❤ She will always be with you my dude
Yeah I can’t really listen to this song anymore because of my mom. I lost her about 10 years ago and it came out of nowhere.
Howard is a better clean singer and Jesse better range on screams but honestly Jesse has gotten better clean in the past few years and Howard got better at his screams as his career with KSE went on. Both are legends if you ask me.
Both of them have Bought something unique to KSE and will go down in history as the greatest vocalists of KSE.
Saw KSE live with both. I agree with the other comment, both brought something unique. I love both singers.
@@derekhartenstine8545 i seen both live and love both. Seen Jesse with KSE last year, and Howard with Light the Torch a few months ago. before seeing them live i preferred Jesse, but Howard live was nothing short of amazing. Best fucking show ive been to in years.
I have been a fan of both and seen both but in my humble opinion Jesse just brings a bit more to the table
@@Pierseus Nah, Jesse made me lose all interest in the band. I barely even listen to their stuff anymore.
"I mourn for those, who never knew you." Such a powerful verse. I havent lost my mom, but I did lose my bestfriend and that part always tears me up
You should do End of Heartache sometime. I love that song.
Especially live version from DVD, it's amazing!
My favorite song as a lil kid, 7, I believe❤️❤️❤️
I mean it's pretty much agreed upon that's their best song and he didn't do it. TIme to unsub. He gets his requests from rap fans.
Great song
@Ric something Only original one
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE - THIS FIRE
This song definitely hits home. I just lost my mom in August of this year. I miss her terribly!
I wasn't expecting that to hit me so hard, but when I saw the rose at the end. Yeah. I ugly cried. I lost it. Wow.
omg same this song hits hard
There aren’t many that don’t give you the feels by killswitch! I suggest you go on a binge!! 👊
Reckoning does it too me.
SAVE ME does it to me
A few songs on the newer album with Jesse really gets me. Both front men are amazing in my book
I think this fire by killswitch engage is a must do song.
For L please do LAMB OF GOD - LAID TO REST
Please for dear god that song is overdone. Do grace by lamb of god
I've listened to KSE since 2000 and as of right now--we have had the pleasure of 3 studio albums by both Jesse & Howard. Saying which one is better is a silly argument for they both brought something entirely different to the table. Jesse is known for his deep lyrical content and brought a more aggressive/hardcore style that comes through in his songs. Howard for me was the melodic, catchy and 'radio hit' lead who broadened their sound (as well as fanbase). Not to say Jesse does not write catchy songs (Beyond The Flames might be my all-time favorite KSE track) but I personally have had great joy in hearing this band grow and mature with each album.
I love both and all KSE as well. I can literally listen to each of their albums all the way through. There's only maybe a few songs in their entire library that I skip. Howard was the perfect replacement for Jesse when he was gone.
Completely agree the arguement of who is better is moot. Besides we're about to find out what they sound like together!
100% Agree.
Adam - on point brother! Each have their own pluses and minuses, both are KSE at differing points.
I used to listen to this song all the time, but 6 months ago I lost my dad very suddenly. I haven't been able to bring myself to listen to this until a few days ago. It's such a powerful song that I will always appreciate.
Thank you for your words Alex. I hadn’t heard this song before and I clicked on it because I enjoy your reactions. It is a year today since I lost my wife Marian to cancer, so this felt very timely. Keep reacting, they have been a highlight for me over the last couple of months. Thanks again.
@carlos slater, I am truly sorry for your loss! I was widowed to suicide in 1996! And nope, still grieving, no time limit that I'm aware of. Lost my 3 kids in a nasty ass custody battle in 1989, Dad died @ age 45 in 1978 & then, {for me, perhaps} the coup de gras of losing my best friend & older brother in 2013. I listened to FFDP The Way of the Fist for a solid year after Stu died, so yes, music is so very powerful!
There is a song called "Don't Turn Away" by Robin George that is not metal, not really sure what pigeon hole to stuff it into, but I do encourage you & anyone else grieving to give it a listen. Peace & Blessings. 🌹✌☮🤘💨
@@maggierezac5820 Thanks Maggie, I will check that song out. The song/s I have had on very high rotation this past year has been Tool's "10,000 Days".
Sorry for your loss brother. Can't imagine losing my wife.😑
@@orcdoc Wings for Marie Pt 1 & 2 help me cope with my mother's death as well. Rose of Sharyn will always invoke the most visceral feelings though.
Howard Jones!!! He's the man!! You should check out his new band Light the Torch for L "Die Alone"
I was thinking safety of disbelief, he'd absolutely love the cleans
Thank you I was wondering was the name was
Glad I'm not the only one suggesting Light The Torch. But I have a feeling it will be Lamb of God.
Mentioned Light The Torch a few times but nothing lol
Light the torch's Consume the Dammed is a sick song
Yay!!!! Some Killswitch Engage!!! I like both vocalists. React to Howard Jones's new band Light the Torch. They are amazing!!! React to their songs either Die Alone or Safety of Disbelief
Anthony Zuniga I concur, love their new album!
I hope L is them. Few songs off their new album are way better than DYK former work.
@@markmcdonald1952 its better than their other albums when they were Devil You Know
@@MidnightSky1821 I agree. I've been listening to it non stop since the album came out
@@atzmetal6 I have to add them to my Google Play!
Got the lyrics tattooed on my arm years back and had this as the last song at our wedding. Cannot say how much this one song means to me. Thanks for reviewing!
Show us ❤!
in my opinion best KSE reaction in RUclips, powerful song for powerful feelings the sigh at 4:40 it's very honest I can feel your feelings bro, for everyone that listens this song and read this, I can only say one thing I hope your heart heals soon...
I like Howard Jones more because he is the one that got me into KSE but I really like Jesse Leach as well. They both kickass! 🤘
i agree with you but its cool that kse is still making great music and you still get howard kicking ass in devil you know/light the torch
Yea I was a little skeptical about Jesse at first but he definitely made his place in kse.
I'm in the same boat. I first got into KSE when Jones was the singer so he'll always be my number 1. Leach is amazing too, more like 1A and 1B
Bryce Stluka I can relate to that. They are both great but Howard was vocalist when I heard the band for the first time. Love Jesse also, great guy
Howard's band Light The Torch is awesome.
Killswitch has been one of the most consistantly awesome bands no matter the time in their career. 2 different singers (both awesome for their own style added to the sound) and great lyrical content and very good music to back it up as well! Sorry to hear about your dad Alex, I've had my fair share of these sorts of issues dealing with a dad that has been an alcoholic all my life. I've written some songs about it and it always makes for a very good outlet to get some of that shit out for sure! Thanks for all that you do brother, and also know we are here for you as well! 👊
Love your videos bro!! Guys subscribe to alone above earth for quality content!
@@CrappycrapCrappy appreciate you!! 👊
I think they have had three singers: howard, Jeese and the actual
@@eduardoalvarez8442 they only had two actually. Jesse was the first singer of KSE, followed by Howard, then Jesse again 👍
@@CrappycrapCrappy truth! Jesse was the original. Then Howard took over, then Jesse returned after Howard and the guys parted ways! They are both amazing in their own way!
Two completely different styles of volcals. Love them both!
I lost both of my parents last Christmas and this song always puts tears on my face and I love this song
I am very sorry man. Please soldier on. You got this
Killswitch engage ❤❤
My favorite metalcore band
You right tho
The most unusual band in metalcore.....maybe except band Corrin
You might like Alice in Chains, Pantera, and Jinjer too if you like Killswitch Engage. Also, Incubus. Incubus is more rock than metal, but you still might like them. Edit: 🤟🎶🪕🎸🎼
L - Lamb Of God - Laid To Rest
Hell yeah
would rather react to Walk with me in Hell :)
Thomas Paulsen he already did
Lacuna Coil Heavens A Lie
@@claym3040 So I missed 1. Maybe a few more. I don't miss many. But running a business, and farm keeps me busy. Excuse me for missing one. It's not the end of the earth. If you wanna take my place one day I'll be happy to sit, and watch videos all day.
I'm very happy that you went with this song. This song gives me chills and makes me tear up every time I hear it. When my late fiancee passed away, this song had just come out and for real, it's one of the reasons why I was able to keep moving. That and more than a couple years of therapy and grief counseling.
Dedicated this to my father.. Love u and miss u greatly dad💔
Howard for sure! His screams are epic and his cleans are so unique and almost theatrical.
Best screams I've heard since Phils screams on the cowboys from hell album
Also Parkway Drive - Wishing Wells/The Colour of Leaving
BREAKING POINT!
@@McDuff96 any and all Parkway Drive is great, I like to suggest WW and TCoL because they are two different viewpoints of the same tragic events. I like the contrast of the two
@Designated Shitposter designated shitposter indeed
@Designated Shitposter they are not core anymore 😂
No. Their old stuff is better. Something like a cold day in hell or romance is dead
You’re a good man. Reaching out to your fans is something that keeps people watching and coming back. Keep it real man cheers to you. This makes me miss my grandmother so much.
Always loved this song, but it fully made sense to me after my mom passed away a little over two years ago. Appreciate you reviewing this song @Alexhefner, keep up the content!! Proud subscriber.
Lacuna Coil- Our Truth
Lamb of God- Walk with me in Hell or Omerta
Leave's Eyes- Hell to the Heavens
Led Zeppelin- Whole Lotta Love
Linkin Park- Breaking the Habit
Living Colour- Cult of Personality
Lordi- Devil is a Loser
They are both pretty amazing but Im going to have to go with Jesse Leech
G1anTM1dg3T666 LAMB OF GOD❤️❤️❤️
Alter Bridge - In Loving Memory
It's one that mark Tremonti wrote in dedication to his mother.
Doug Ray great song
One of my favourites of KSE.. so much emotion in there.. it's really tough to process the loss of your mother.. i tear up even thinking about my mom passing away
This is why I watch reaction channels, I have of course heard that song, but i like seeing others experience it for the first time, now this song has a whole new meaning for me too.
I can’t pick between Howard and Jesse, they’re equally amazing to me.
Same here 🤔 😅
Seen jesse live yet i love howard and i now love jesse more, live he is almost like howard it scary and yes they did my curse ect so to hear jesse live is amazeing.
Both amazing in their own right, cant have one over the other.
Lamb of God- Laid to rest
I was reluctant to see this video because of how important it is to me, but this was an amazing reaction-video ❤️ Thank you so much!
Hey Alex, first and foremost, I've gotta say that you are by far my favorite person to watch when it comes to reaction videos. I love watching your reactions to bands that I love and listen to myself.
Secondly, this particular song, along with others, has a very poignant message that our loved ones whom have passed, never truly leave us and one day, we will all meet again.
I personally lost both my Dad and my Mum at a very early time in my childhood. I was only 9 when my Dad passed away and I was 12 when my Mum passed in a tragic set of circumstances. Growing up with such immense loss was never easy and many years later, the emotional and mental scars still remain.
Music has always been an escape for me, particularly in the ever changing landscape and sub genres of hard rock and heavy metal.
Keep rocking. Chris
Lamb of God - Laid to rest
For the "L"
Great reaction. Awesome of you to say that message and open up about your personal life.
I also recommend Killswitch Engage's "Always". It's with Jesse and is super emotional, too.
Chris B so glad you enjoyed the vid! ❤️
You have a good heart dude. Loss is loss, whether alive or dead. Someone exiting your life who you love or have feelings for can be devastating for some people. One of your best reaction vids buddy! And yes, it is okay to let all that sadness and despair out. It's healthy.
Howard is the perfect fit for the Killswitch sound and Rose of Sharyn is the best guitar riff that Adam has ever written.
Cross Off - Mark Morton ft. Chester Bennington
Iove that song. Have you heard the Truth is dead from Marks album?
Pete Thorley YES I cried so much the first time
Yeeessss! Definitely a great sugestion for M!
Lamb of god - walk with me in hell
He already did a reaction to it
Did it already
Killswitch Engage - My Curse video please!
Thank u alex, when i lost my mother to cancer 3 years ago , i fell into heavy drug addiction, im still mourning, and now trying to detoxify, and beat my addictions, thanks for listening , love your channel.
L-Lamb of God 512 or laid to rest
512 for fucking real
512 would be my vote.
Fuck it...Burn The Priest, the whole album lol
512?? Lol pshh! Blacken the Cursed Sun!!🤘🏼
@@Xtreemtallness101 1st off, Blacken the Cursed Sun is an amazing song...
2nd, and most importantly, i get the irony....You did read Dark Days right? You get the meaning behind the song, let alone the whole Sturm und Drang album. Its a masterpiece.
Ive been a fan since they were Burn The Priest...512 is probably one of their top 3 best songs ever.
Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope 🤘
It's 2020 and I've known this song since it came out and loved it but never really knew it's real meaning. I just used to headbang to it on the guitar. But today WOW, don't have words. Beautiful. Thanks Alex
Needed to hear your words today. Thank you
Lacuna coil!!! Either Spellbound or Blood tears dust or even Delirium
I um... like just seeing this... I lost my dad when I was 8 and damn near 2 decades later I could only imagine who or what I would've been had the accident never happened. But I missed out on so much, from what I can recall he was a good man, he took care of me, he stepped up to the plate and made sure I was good... I was his world. After 2+ decades later I am unsure of the man that I am because of who he was vs myself... I constantly battle with who I am vs who I'm supposed to be.
I'm sure you're doin great work bro. Hang in there and I'm sorry u lost a bad ass of a dad. But he's watching you and he's very proud.
I've been listening to this song for maybe 10+ years... and never knew it was about his mother. And this was always my favorite song. My mom passed away in 2017, and after hearing you find out it was about his mom, I cried. Man.......
L for Leprous!!! One of the most incredible bands out there right now!!!
Agreed!
I agree, and they are original!
That would be nice, but Lamb of Meh is overwhelming the comments
I agree , I discovered them recently and their music is so good
No Lamb of god! Want to see him react to them again
Lamb of God "512" super powerful song about how he got thrown in Czech prison for "manslaughter" after one of his young fans died at one of their shows
Please do not do "Laid to rest"
I always loved this song, but it has taken on a new meaning for me with recent passing of my sister. It has helped me from completely losing it and much like Alex said, it is my crutch. RIP my sister 1-14-2019.
Hey bud I really enjoy your videos and the natural emotion that comes with your reactions. Metal is a gift to this world and I’m glad you see it that way. Looking for some new vids soon!!
LAMB OF GOD
Lamb of God- 512

One of the few songs that makes me cry every time. Beautiful song.
L- Lamb of God: 512

LAMB OF GOD - OVERLORD
Really nice review, great song & I really like the music vid too. I've never seen that before I also didn't know what it was specifically about either. Great job dude!
This song has a powerful message, and one I listened to countless times after my father chose to end his life in front of me. Depression can be a burden, and one that is impossible to carry for some. I have often wondered what my last words were, and just hope dad knew I loved him. I understood he wanted to have some power in his own destiny as cancer was slowly taking his life, and I learned that the gift of the here and now with those you love should be cherished, which is why this very moment is called the present. It is a gift
Oh my god! That is CRAZY ...
I love this song since i've first listened to it back when it came out. It is one of my favourite songs by KsE. I always knew that it was about the loss of a loved one, but i always thought it was about a wife or girlfriend. I was to lazy to look it up.
So it has to happen that a hip-hop head youtuber that i've followed for a long long time explained me that this awesome song is about the loss of a mother.
Now i love this song even more, because my mom passed away 7 years ago.
I'm not realy a religious person but i hope i'll see her again.
The line: "I mourn for those who never knew you" is so fitting... My girlfriend (we are a couple for four years now) never had the chance to meet my mom. That makes me sad sometimes.
I've listend to this song a thousend times or even more but now it's like a complete new song.
I Love Howard Jones. He is one of metal most gifted vocalist.
So you really have to Check out his new Band [L] Light the torch. The Song "The Safety of disbelief" is an absolutle beauty.
Thank you for your content Alex i really enjoy it.
Keep up the good work and greeting from Germany \m/
Best comment I've seen on here in a long time. Very touching. Sorry for your loss man, keep your head high!!! Thanks for the inspiration to stay strong!!

Makes me tear up a bit...
Finally!! Been asking for this one!
I lost my dad to cancer when I was 14. Been 16 years and I still miss him like crazy and sometimes it seems like he was here just yesterday. Life is difficult without people you love around you, but it does get better. Just know that it does.
I'm sorry for you..
it’s does get better but never fully heals 🖤

Wow i love this song. And the video clip is awesome. Dead trees with words carved in them from the song and then at the end that rose. Everything was perfect🤘🏻
This Song helped me so much, when I lost my father few years ago. Still to this day its goosebumps all over and being lucky that I had such a great man as my father. We meet again.
Always been a fan of whatever project Howard is involved with whether it was KSE or currently Light The Torch. This is a relevant song for me as someone very closed to me passed away four years ago of last week. She was a beautiful woman with mental health issues and even while battling her own demons, she was a powerful advocate for those who were dealing with similar issues. Always reaching out to help and tried to reach out when she needed it. The whole time building a website with resources to help us all who are going through some shit (emotionally abusive relationship). So, my heart goes out to anyone dealing with loss or struggling with their own mental health. Don't be embarrassed. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Don't be too proud to reach out. Even if it's just to talk or to get professional help or both.
One of my fav concerts of all time was KSE, Soilwork, Anthrax. What a gig.
Simon C nice, my fav concert is Obituary, Anthrax, Lamb Of God, and Slayer ALL in one concert!! It was INSANE!
@@Lukkern holy shit, that sounds bloody amazing

Since you've already listened to a couple of Lamb of God songs, let me suggest Leprous for the letter L. Amazing prog metal band from Norway. That way you can also dip your toes in prog, which I think you haven't done yet, because you owe us after not choosing Dream Theater or Devin Townsend for the letter D. So here are some prog suggestions:
L - Leprous, Liquid Tension Experiment
M - Mastodon, Meshuggah (You need to revisit both. You will like The Motherload)
N - Ne Obliviscaris
O - Opeth
P - Periphery, Pain of Salvation, Porcupine Tree, Plini, Persephone, Paul Gilbert
Q - Queensrÿche
R - Rush (not metal, but f*cking awesome)
S - Steve Vai, Symphony X
T - Tool (MORE SONGS!), Tesseract, THE Devin Townsend Band :P
V - Vai, Steve (he's so good I need to include him twice).
Y - Yngwie Malmsteen
Take your pick! ;)
PlugInKali nooo more lamb of god!!! Agree strongly on Opeth though! Ome of my favorite bands of all time!
Thank you so much for listening to this song. It means the world to me and is one of my all time favorites. Seeing you react to it gave me goosebumps and chills. Also, thank you so much for the content you produce for us. We love you back and are here for you just as well!
I feel you bro. Indeed. This is the most emotional metal song ever. KSE will never again make such a beautiful song without Howard's voice.

It's a great song and one I always listen too. One reason is because there a local band for me . An second as I lost both of my parents before I turned 15 . So it's a song that helps me . Great reaction.
last week i lost both my best friend of 30 yrs and my grandma, listenin to songs like this does make me very emotional of there passin but also gives me strength that someones understands what it feels like to go through such a head fuck
i lost an aunt i was very close to and like two days after her passing i was at my work and this song came on while i was working it was on my spotify playlist ofc but it just randomly came on and that's not what was weird the weird thing was right when he said it won't be long we'll meet again a person walked right beside me who literally spot on resembled my aunt i literally almost broke down in tears but i felt it as god telling me that she is still watching over me you know.
I’ve never hit a notification SO QUICK! Yesss thank you for doing this.
For the letter O, listen to Of Mice and Men, Second & Sebring
Or defy?
