Forgot to mention - some Apple products are typically re-released a year later, and if you're using an iPod touch 5th gen that was manufactured after around 9/2013, it may not work since the device never shipped with iOS 6 in the first place. You can usually find the date from when your Apple products was manufactured on many different websites. As long as it shipped with iOS 6 or previously ran iOS 6 in the past, then you should be good!

It is still possible to ota downgrade, however i have not found a way to do it since the setup crashes mid-way if you try the same methof as the ios 8 downgrade. I also have to try to downgrade a 5S to ios 10, since its also ota downgradable.
@@GodzillaKaijuGK Use Leetdown ! It's almost as easy as restoring via iTunes. I downgraded an iPhone 5 to iOS 8 and a 5S to iOS 10 with it, no problem. Just make sure to have an mfi wire, to disable Touch ID + passcode and to disconnect from iCloud otherwise it might not work (I had trouble in the beginning when one of the conditions wasn't respected but I don't know wich one was causing it)

I repeated the process and now I'm stuck with an iPod on iOS 9.3.5 which thinks is iOS 6.1.3 which won't "update" to iOS 8.4.1! iTunes doesn't recognize it either, so I can't restore it! Have you tried a DFU restore? That might work. I suggest you use another computer with iTunes and see if that works. If an iPod bricks, restoring it back to iOS 9.3.5 should work without any issues.

For y'all's convenience, here's a complete compatibility list for this method: - iPhone 5 - iPhone 5c - iPad 2 - iPad 3 - iPad Mini 1 - iPod Touch 5th Gen Please note that iPhone 5 and iPad 3's method are slightly different since their maximum iOS version version is iOS 10, and not iOS 9. Luckily you can just jailbreak with Socket and the rest of the process is the same.
Quick tip for downgrading to iOS 8, I don't recommend the plist trick because it can cause issues (mostly with phones). Use a tool such as an ota downgrader if you can.

I tried these steps on my iOS 8.4.1 iPhone 4S but It bricked so I had to restore it to iOS 9.3.6 but luckily I was able to redowngrade to iOS 8.4.1 so I’m now just using cool booter teathered and booting iOS 7.0

I've done it before, it's more than doable. You change the version number, downgrade to 8.4.1 and then mess with CoolBooter to get a partition with 6.1.3 going. The only difference is you need a different app to jailbreak with for 10.X, something like H3lix.

Basically, change Filza version number to 6.1.3, and change the build number accordingly. When you restart the iPad, you should see an update for iOS 6.1.3. You can just install the update and it will downgrade you to 6.1.3. Keep in mind, this only works on all iPad 2 models except for iPad2,4.

You can downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 on a 4S
The iPad 2 is the only exception

Has someone tried this out on an iPhone 5? I’m not sure if it’s going to be the same procedure because there you’re starting on iOS 10, probably with a different jailbreak an stuff. If it works on it I might go out and buy myself an iPhone 5 used…
Can confirm it works on an iPhone 5. The process is the same but you’ll need use a different JB tool
I've done it before, it's more than doable. You change the version number, downgrade to 8.4.1 and then mess with CoolBooter to get a partition with 6.1.3 going.
The only difference is you need a different app to jailbreak with for 10.X, something like H3lix.
I can confirm it works on iPhone 5. I did this half a year ago. And if uou use windows, use 3utools for jailbreaking

Idk if you still have it but I had a iphone 5s with activation lock and went to activation lock support on the apple website and used a fake iPhone 5s recipet and they removed it so you just need a ipod touch 5 recipet from Google

Basically, change Filza version number to 6.1.3, and change the build number accordingly. When you restart the iPad, you should see an update for iOS 6.1.3. You can just install the update and it will downgrade you to 6.1.3. Keep in mind, this only works on all iPad 2 models except for iPad2,4.

Why not use nightshade after you downgrade to iOS 8? I was on iOS 10 and I know that nightshade only works on iOS 9 and below.
Because iOS 6 is no longer signed and n1ghtshade is always tethered no matter where you come from for your downgrade.
