I get why they want ships and harbors, but the main Roman settlements like Málaga in Spain, and Baden-Baden in Germany, were all reached and built by foot. The harbors followed when the necessary infrastructure to handle the ships was built. A huge backbone of the empire was a network of warehouses, each connected by foot or ox. Would love them to add a continent or something where you have to settle along a river and maybe get the needs of your citizens fulfilled to claim a larger area you have to defend with some troops.
I was saying the same thing on Takas channel. I feel like a good chunk of the map could be land mass with different "regions or states" on it so you can have different cities in each. Then use wagons/oxen to ship materials between them
@@TubeNewrome, I don't think so. The Settler formula is individual logistics for each resource, no real trading, and a fluent fight about the ground with the border stone. Anno has multiple settlements focusing on trading, but the warehouse and global balance solve logistics for you. The combat is distinct as you have to take over a settlement as a whole. In my opinion, it doesn't really matter if you apply the formulas on carts, ships, or airships.
Rome was both a maritime and inland power, so I hope the maps won’t be limited to islands. To incorporate bodies of water for ship travel while staying true to the Roman theme, they could include maps featuring major rivers like the Rhine, Danube, or Nile. This approach would balance Anno’s gameplay mechanics with historical accuracy.
Anno has developed a strong maritime component in many latest title I don't think they would throw that out in a Rome title specially when you can already see the beaches there
I have been somewhat familiar with the Anno franchise for a long time but never too interested - that is until I saw you play Anno 2205. I ended up buying it and I loved playing it despite the common shortcomings people talked about it online. Now, I am super eager to not only watch you Nivarias play it, but to play it myself! Ubisoft ditching the Steam exclusion is a great step but I am dreading the 70+ Euro release price tag AAA titles are going for now. Let's hope the deluxe-whatever-edition they release wont be pushing higher than 100 Euros.....
What's wrong with new content? As long as it's not cut out of the original game and developers create new original content for a popular game I think it's a good way to keep a game alive over the years.
@@Nivarias Reading comprehension mate. He didn't say he doesn't like new content, he said he didn't want a DLC every 2 months. And considering this is Ubisoft at the end of the day (though i don't know how invovled the parent company is with the Mainz studio), you'll probably get a battle pass. Ubisoft locked players out of the Avatar game for almost 5 months now, cause they supposedly accepted a DLC mission, without having the DLC and now can't play without the DLC unless they delete their entire safefile. This is the company you're dealing with here.
@@DarkSun123456789Will say, Anno's precedent looks a lot different to what Ubisoft in general is doing (iirc anno 1800 had yearly season passes of three dlcs each, and those went for way less than 20/DLC, not has the game ever made doing things from those DLCs not an explicit choice in my recollection (like as in even if you have the DLC, you need to explicitly select to add it to a world if it's a content one))

Nice update veideo. keep them coming when you found new images and informations. I also hope for tripple ore double road bridges. i am very interested to see if Ubisoft Mainz will create a best Anno game or Anno 1800 will always be on top. (1404 was also great and 1701(DS version))
117 was when hadrian become emperor, so not too much roman expantion but loads of wars to keep the empire in check. also quelling rebelion. loads of builing projects, including the wall. some good gameplay even if they stricly kee to that timeline

I guess this ANNO will do, but I was really hoping to see a much more futuristic ANNO going beyond ANNO 2205, instead they went even further back in time.
Tbh i would have preferred the game was set place between the 2 Punic Wars. We could have seen so many different maritime nations and so characters (Egypt, Athens, Carthage, Persia)
Besides strategy/city build game, did you play other genre/niche such as simulator? the Luma Island, I don't know if it interest you, but it's great if you consider it.
Sorry to bother, but Celts is pronounced properly with a K sound not a S sound. I've only heard sports teams called Celtic pronounced with an S sound. All other versions of Celts or Celtic is with a K sound.
Yeah I just hope there are land troops like in 1602 I love 1800 but really missed land troops and with the roman theme if I cant make legionaries I dont think Ill get it.. Ill never say never but thats big for me
I would love to have some kind of flex roads like manor lords.. for me its already very hard to go back to the grid Mechanik... I was fine before i played ML the first time..
Nivarias hello Yes Im waiting to. Anno 117 that is in the middle of in the Reign of Octavian Cesar that calles himsef 40 years Later Emperor Augustus Octavian Cesar (Nephew of Julius Cesar)
I look forward to see this game BUT, from the pictures i have the feeling that it will be basically just a mod for ANNO1800... Hopefully i am wrong and they will actually add something new instead of just changing the buildings and materials.

Honestly I'm not convinced this is going to be any good. 1800 was the perfect time period to work with. I'm suspicious this is more about money than anything. They want to pump out dlcs and replicate the success of 1800.
What's up with pronouncing Celts with an "s"? Official pronunciation is with a "k". I'm not all that hyped up for this one btw. For starters it's very hard to beat the industrial revolution period that saw society drastically swift. Not so much for the Romans and the Celts, whereas the latter weren't all that exciting to begin with when it comes to city building.

If they put asterix and obelix in anno 117 i wil so happy
Probably not
It would be super cool, even if only a small easter egg, like small versions of them walking on the streets
@@ibarzabal the costs to use them would probably be way to high

I think ubisoft can't make a new Anno like 1800, that was amazing and wonderful
I feel the biggest challenge will be that the game feels Roman. If they can get this down it will print money, if not it will be an 1800 reskin
would be nice to have some larger landmasses like in Cape Trelawney
