I know they are not as common but I bought a 32k mile Mustang GT 4.6L 3v complete with 5r55s transmission, harness, accessories, fuel tank, gas pedal, etc for $2,000.....then found a used MP112 Magnuson supercharger for $650.....so all in with tuning I'll be under $5,000 for a 425rwhp setup. Oh yeah, this is going in my 1952 Ford F1 pickup.
Swap the cams for mustang cams and boom you have a mustang motor, from there I would say throw a blower on it and get a tune. They can put down 600 easy. Go e85 and get another 100
I have a 1994 f150 xl 4x4 in a 5speed manual. I'm thinking of doing a coyote swap but had a few questions. If I swap can it still be a manual transmission? Also would i no longer have the 4x4 or is there a way of keeping it?
That's an obvious yes. You can fit like any small block v8 into even small trucks like an s10 or a Ford ranger. The coyote is a bigger (in physical size) small block v8 for the displacement because of the dual overhead cams, but yes the coyote came in the newer ones and this guy consistently swaps them into older f100s so yeah, of course.
I work at LKQ in QC now. ive got 2 bits of advice for everyone. 1) we do NOT deliver to a residential address. 2) if you call us and ask the sales rep specifically for "a full-drop" and specify you want the harness with the engine. he can put in the notes to the dismantle crew to leave it attached. this can also be extended to the full drivetrain if you want it. ENG, TRA, RDS(rear drive shaft), and RAX(rear axle). we do try to get the customers exactly what they want/need. and if we dont do it the first time, we will try again until we get it right. i use to be a driver for them for 2 years. it wasnt an issue for me to go back to the same shop 3 and 4 times to get them the exact right part. typically mistakes like that only happen with electronic devices because the manufactures make so many different models based on the trim levels of each vehicle. IE, a radio that fits a Ford escape is the same that fits a fusion, or a taurus. and each of those three have 3/4 trim levels.
interesting. i inquired about a 5.0 on ebay a couple of weeks ago (LKQ seller, but i can't remember where they were out of). the gal wrote back and kindly told me that they don't supply motors for swaps. i'd have to provide the vin number to buy it, presumably for a replacement motor for the same year vehicle. i thought that was strange. ever hear of that?
Search turbodgumby on here. Dude is a 1st gen lightning guru and a hell of nice guy. I’m local to him and we talked about the swap into my 93 lightning but the cost gets up there. I’d rather swap it into a regular 93 F150 though since the production numbers are so low on 93-95 Lightning’s.
I just recently got my 2010 GT. I lost my 2007 GT after getting married then divorced. One day when I get the money saved, I want to put the 5.0 in my car. It took everything I had to get my car back. I saved every paycheck I had. I worked in a salvage yard for 5 years and didnt make much money. I'm currently saving money to go to truck driving school. Once I start making good money. I'll be able to swap motors.
Interceptor GT hearing this story makes me clench my fists in anger fuck that bitch for STEALING your gt can’t wait for the fun to come when you get the coyote
11 thru 14 are the same motor. They are the Gen 1's 2015 thru 2017 are gen 2 and 18 up are the gem 3. I have a 2011 F 150 with the 5.0 and a 2016 with the 5.0 There is 20 hp difference between the two from the factory.
How do you know if these are water swamped? With all the flooding in the southern east coast it makes me nervous to pull the trigger if Im gonna have to break the motor down anyway?
One thing you didn’t mention about LKQ is that their warranty becomes void if the engine is installed in a vehicle that the engine isn’t meant for. Not saying they’re parts aren’t good quality or that they aren’t reliable, just do all your testing before install
Been thinking about doing this swap to my new Edge until you said 8500 when last year when I was thinking about this people are getting the motor an ECU and wire harness from 1500 to $2,500 from a junkyard
Ok you mention LKQ but what is the other option you had there, with the engine and trans combo? Mainly asking because I’m trying to put a drivetrain like that in an 89 bronco
That's cool, coyote engines seem too expensive, I'm gonna LS swap my 94 extended cab Ranger, those engines are more abundant and can make more power for less money.
Perhaps the truck coyotes remained the same. The mustang coyotes saw a 20 hp gain from 2012 to 2013. The 2018 motors have a 40hp increase from 2011. Increases came with longer and bigger valves and increases on the cams.
The main thing that makes the mustang engine better is better factory intake manifold and better factory intake cams...yes the truck engine has half point less compression but that wont make too much difference. I would get a truck engine and throw on a better than stock mustang intake manifold on it and upgraded intake cams like the l&m intake only cam upgrade...once you do those mods itll be just like a mustang engine w the same mods minus maybe 10-15 hp max from the half point in compression. I think behind a manual trans you could see 470-480 rwhp with a cobra jet intake and l&m intake cams on an f150 coyote. Mustang engines cost 1-2 grand more on average sometimes more so the money saved could buy the upgraded intake and intake cams. If you dont wanna spend for the cj intake and want a cheaper route you could go with a ported 18 mustang manifold it would still give pretty good numbers but not as good as the cj def much better than a stock gt intake pre 2018 let alone the stock truck manifold lol. If i was doing a swap i would buy a truck engine and buy a ported cj intake and l&m intake cams only. Throw on long tubes while the engine is out and bam you got one mean machine once tuned.
THE ABSOLUTE LAST COMPANY I WOULD EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM IS COMPANY YOU REFERENCE ... LKQ ... NICKEL & DIME OUTFIT THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE GOOD STUFF. Buy from ebay ... not lkq.
A 351w is a task to get in there! The 427 super stockers had the shock towers modified to except it! A Coyote is even wider! New front clip is needed and then a 6 point cage? Two words, fox body! It's light, strong, and still everywhere! Mustangs weren't the only foxes! I got a 79 Fairmont wagon with manual rack and brakes. No ac! Factory stick shift car! Now that's different! Coyote will drop in there with no problems! Most fox body Mustang mods will bolt right in and the weight would be comparable to a gt! Rear wheel overhang is light-years better! Practically a weekend swap! There out there, you just gotta find them!
There’s usually 1 or 2 bolts that connect the engine harness connector (C100) to the vehicle and LKQ has a bad habit of cutting the harness. Their excuse is, “we don’t guarantee the harness”.
I bought a 1997 Lincoln mark 8,,(aluminum block cobra motor & trans 290 hp ) for $1000..put it n my 1983 SB Ford f150,,, beefed it up wit a Whipple SC from a lightning ($1200),headers,b303 thumper cam,all for around $5000 installed,,it's not a coyote but I'm pushing 500+ & alot cheaper
If you plan on building engine with better pistons and rods find core engine far cheaper like 250-500 dollars. Why buy running engine like 4-6k then take it apart to upgrade engine. Truck vs Mustang main parts difference is pistons, intake cams, oil pump and exh manifolds. Still far cheaper to buy truck engine upgrade to mustang specs. Even buying mustang GT intake cam 70-80 dollars each or factory BOSS 302 intake cams they all share same exhaust cams. My brother wanting core 2015-2017 for his 2001 cobra which has 2011 coyote we put in. Was truck engine upgraded forge piston, BOSS rods and cams. With machine work, boring block, balance and head gone through with new intake valves. 350 core, 600 machine shop, I think around 1000 in parts pistons, rod, bearings, factory boss cams, bolts and gaskets, front cover
Round Prairie Dairy I ended up buying a 2018 F150 5.0 10spd to use as donor but truck was so nice I fixed it and it’s now my daily driver! I love doing the swaps using factory parts not using other standalone setups.
LKQ are hacks those guys have sent my dealer ship so many engines with almost always broken intakes ,valve covers sensors , water pipes cut harnees ECT.. . I always have to transfer a lot of parts from the original engine, or disassemble the LKQ engine to remove the cut harness ,connectors, pipes, broken stuff they break. LKQ is not a cheap place for used engines but you will get more work then you bargained for , for a lot of broken stuff in the engine you bought. Then only good thing is every engine I've ever installed from LKQ have worked which is the most important.
i already buy a 2011 5.0 from f150.....i have a 78 Bronco, i have the computer and harnes, there is a shop to send it the get it fix . or buy a new one , can u point me... please!
Please forgive my ignorance. I have an S197 GT with 160,000 miles on it. Will a Coyote engine drop into it and is the wiring harness compatible? THANKS!
I have a 2016 mustang GT and a 2012 mustang GT. Side by side, I want to swap the 2016 motor into the 2012 because I like my solid rear and is already beefed up and my 2012 has 120K miles. I was hoping to do just the long block but I am confused on why I can just do a swap and plug and play due to the cams, phasers and Timing chain not compatible with the gen1 ECU? What’s else is needed??
Eric Copeland agreed, on top of it all there’s no real answer to where the motor comes from. “Another guy” and “lkq” plus there is a TON on work to be done to get them to fit into whichever truck/car you’re swapping...then comes the ecu and computer and gauge configuration...then comes the fact if you’re going to pay to get it done expect roughly 15k to 20k drive out to have it installed not the 20k to 75k he said in a previous video. I looked into a swap for my 93 f150 lightning by a great shop and depending on what year/miles/power adders I was still right at 17k. Ultimately decided I wanted old school power and went with rebuilding the 351 and turning it into a 408 instead for half the cost.
I have a quick question my name is Eric I stay in St Petersburg Florida I got a 1997 Mercury cougar RX7 that I want to do a motor swap with I got a v6 automatic transmission but I want to try to get the 5.0 motor be much quicker and faster I guessif I say to get the kite the coyote motor would that make it different from the transmission that I have in the car now order at the swap transmissions or keep the same transmission that I got in the room when I want to try it for a stat 5.8 liter motorbut if you got any like any questions that I know that I try to do better but just give me leave a comment and everything like that or just get back me my name is Eric say in St Petersburg Florida
@@CS-ro1mx 11-14 Have the GEN 1 motor and they all make pretty much the same power. The 11 and 12 do not make substantially less power. that is nonsense. The 2010 makes considerably less horsepower than the 2011. That would be an accurate statement
@@mgreene011 I have a 2013 GT while my Dad has a 2011 GTCS Mustang. We both agreed mine feels more powerful and hits harder. Experience is different than bullshitting.
I’d love to have one in my 1966 Ford truck. But I’m gonna try a Holley EFI system on the 390 first. With a good EFI the 390 should be a fantastic daily driver 👍. Plus nothing sounds like a big Ford FE motor 😎
The 3vs get a lot of hate, it's really not deserved. Kudos on the build bro! How's it going now?
That's super sweet

I want to coyote swap my 04 mustang GT dark shadow gray automatic so I guess I will have to buy the motor and transmission for it to work
What would you rate a 2014 Ford F150 5.0? Any easy motor upgrades that you'll reccomend? More horsepower etc.
Swap the cams for mustang cams and boom you have a mustang motor, from there I would say throw a blower on it and get a tune. They can put down 600 easy. Go e85 and get another 100
The money you are spending you can build a sick sbf motor

Yes you can have a manual, you're likely going to have to use a bellhousing adapter.
I will like to do this swap on my 1975 f150 . How much will you charge me to get it done ??
Swaps usually start at 25.

Can u fit a coyote in 1998 f150?
Just a quick question. How hard would it be to put a V8 in a V6 F150?
Change some motor mounts and get new hoses and proabably depending on the fit maybe new radiator but i doubt it
I have a quick question my name is Eric I stay in St Petersburg Florida I got a 1997 Mercury cougar RX7 that I want to do a motor swap with I got a v6 automatic transmission but I want to try to get the 5.0 motor be much quicker and faster I guessif I say to get the kite the coyote motor would that make it different from the transmission that I have in the car now order at the swap transmissions or keep the same transmission that I got in the room when I want to try it for a stat 5.8 liter motorbut if you got any like any questions that I know that I try to do better but just give me leave a comment and everything like that or just get back me my name is Eric say in St Petersburg Florida
11 n 12 coyote Make “substantially less horsepower” then a 13 motor?? LOL OK bud.
Can you explain please
@@CS-ro1mx 11-14 Have the GEN 1 motor and they all make pretty much the same power. The 11 and 12 do not make substantially less power. that is nonsense. The 2010 makes considerably less horsepower than the 2011. That would be an accurate statement
@@mgreene011 I have a 2013 GT while my Dad has a 2011 GTCS Mustang. We both agreed mine feels more powerful and hits harder. Experience is different than bullshitting.
Thanks
Why can't I find any coyote whipplecharged f150 raptor 13 anywhere in the Internet?
They are also a rip off, lkq is a rip off and a half, they know people looking to swap so your paying swap prices
I have a 2001 4WD Expedition with 240,000 miles. When that engine goes south I am going to put a Coyote engine in it with a newer transmission.
I’d love to have one in my 1966 Ford truck. But I’m gonna try a Holley EFI system on the 390 first. With a good EFI the 390 should be a fantastic daily driver 👍. Plus nothing sounds like a big Ford FE motor 😎
Get a Windsor .
Thinkin of swapping a Coyote engine into 1987 jaguar xj6.. what are your thoughts and any tips you can help me with?
...the music tho...
I want to put something like this on my 2014 Ford Fusion
I want one in my ranger

Thinking about doing this swap to my 60’ merc coupe
Very informative 👏
Or check out fasterproms last video and he has a guy that will make you custom harnesses for a great deal and a discount
I would rather buy a coyote engine came out of a f150 change the rods and oil pump then you will have a coyote engine that can handle 1000 hp
Where did you get the front bumper for the bronco??? Love the look and was it custom-made?
