I bought a new Gen3/6spd for my project. I was thinking the 2yr warranty was a benefit, but from what I hear... it’s only if it’s installed by a Ford Tech.

I just budget build my 68 f100 short bed for under 20k. 2000 bucks for an f150 coyote, conteol pack, 400 bucks for a tr3650 with clutch and flywheel, champ radiator, crown Vic front end, explorer 31 spline traclock rear ended, and a $600 4 link from Ridetech with Coilovers all around. I pulled it all apart, powdercoated from the frame up.
I’m building a 68 Mustang fastback which will be all new stuff. I will tow the mustang with the truck 👍

New Gen 2 crate package worked perfect for my 53 and it was priced just right at $12,500 with a warranty!

i got a f150 gen 1 from facebook for 1000$, swapped a few parts out to make it comparable with the mustang coyote and had it in the car for half the price of just your motor lol

Imagine if you can take 2 clapped out Coyotes, do some cutting and welding on both the blocks and heads as well as porting and polishing the modified factory heads and you have you're self a 6.2L Coyote V10.

I never buy used... but... the one time I did thought I was getting a good thing turned out to be extremely frustrating. Bought an engine and transmission only to find out the package was not even close to the mileage the guy told me. Did every bit of homework I could think of and that whole mess has cost me about 8000.00 and my project delayed by years because now I dont have the money to get what I need. I know several ppl that have great luck, but I didnt. So from now on, only new for me.

A gen 2 with low miles is only around $5K though. Although it’s not quite as good as a gen 3 it’s still arguably the best bang for your buck if you’re on a budget.

Makes sense, since you know the used 1 has 90% probability rate of being beat on. 👍

I paid $3500 for gen 1 with 44k on it, and that included a the 4x4 6R80. it's not running yet ;) so I can't comment on if it was a mistake, but it seemed more logical for a used motor for me.. building it in my garage for myself - not a show truck. time will tell. also, If I had a $80k roadster frame (as shown in the video) it really wouldn't make sense to skimp on the used motor.

…ALL KIDDING ASIDE, if I had the money to do this conversion from FatFender just the way you Guys do em up and money left for nothing else, I’d do it in a flat second. Y’all make em look as if Ford was making these old F100s themselves today. Probably better actually.
