@@francesmurphy3560 There are countries where the taxes are high, but what that gives it's population is free healthcare, free University and College education etc. A lot of things free - so when you pay the taxes, it comes back to you. I'm in Canada and whilst we are not fortunate enough to have free university, we do have free healthcare and a ton of free and full support for children, people with disabilities etc far more than the UK. I compare the two systems and I'm disappointed that the UK is so far behind in managing their health and support systems. A major part of the problem is that humans are not very high on the evolutionary ladder and remain confrontational, greedy and violent and so huge portions of taxes pay for their wars. Religions are also a massive problem because they are primarily the source of greed ignorance (in terms of keeping humans on those lower rungs of the ladder) and violence.

12 hour shifts for paramedics permanently on duty was never considered safe. It is not the time to be exhausted when possibly dealing with life threatening events
I agree! When I was working, we had 24hr. shifts. On occasion, employees would cover shifts when someone called in sick. So, occasionally we worked 48hr. and 72hr. shifts also. 🥱😵💫
Is it normal for people to call the emergency line for something they could just go to the doctor themselves for? Sounds like the public needs some education on the definition of EMERGENCY.
Unfortunately. Some people will call 999 to for a dispute over the number of chicken nuggets they got from McDonalds, and some will ring up and say 'I'm very sorry to bother you, and I know you're terribly busy at the moment, but my husband is having a heart attack'.

I have pretty bad respiratory conditions anyway and had a chest infection that went septic. I didnt have money for a taxi as a student, and didnt want to waste ambulance time and my dumb ass eventually decided to walk to a&e and collapsed on the street on the way there. It's either one way or another. You get people would feel so guilty they end up in dangerous situations because they feel like a bother to a stretched service, or you get people who call for a bloody scratch on the knee.
I live in America, it cost me over $1000 to take an ambulance ride down the street to a hospital after a bad seizure. While that sucks ass, we’ve learned what REALLY needs an ambulance and what doesn’t and I told my husband to never call for one again lol
It isnt really the ambulances job to keep dealing with old people however and there social problems. Unfortunately an ageing populations and a constamt desire to priortise the elderly regardless of medical issue is causing a lot of strain. A lot of elderley need to be in homes with specalist care and we must consider how effective treatment is and committing resources to ageing people in there final stages of life.
I am a woman of 66years old. I have been taking care of others since I was 13 years old and was highly praised for it. So I developed into a people pleaser with no regards to my own needs and wants. I numb myself with tv and RUclips. I don’t want to bother anyone with my feelings because everyone has enough on their own plate.
I'm 17 so I don't have as much experience as you but I've always been a people pleaser and its affected me emotionally way too much. Sometimes you really just need time for yourself. Its probably really hard for you since you've been looking after people your whole life but lifes too short to not live it for yourself instead of others. Theres still so much time to connect you with yourself instead of your life being revolved around others. You only live once ❤ good luck!
The girl in labour, her mother and aunt (who I wonder if she has FAS), could have just taken a cab to the hospital before the labour processed advanced so much. They just used the ambulance as a free taxi. Updated to the next birth - same thing. Waited until the baby was coming out to call ambulance to come to their flop house. I feel sorry for the infants.
@@randofromiowa :) Good for you; I remember my mom telling me that when she went into labour with me, the neighbour took her because my dad was at the river sandbagging with the men in the community to stave off a flood. lol. I'm in Canada, and people who receive income assistance are provided with additional money to get them to doctor's appointments and the hospital. It's an automatic program they can enrol in if getting financial assistance.
Maybe they phoned the hospital and was told not the attend, some labours are very quick. The amount of women that are sent home from maternity and Labour starts and progresses very quickly.

Same as the pregnant girl. It wasn't a silent birth, they could easily have called a taxi well head of the final labour phase. It's what they do, use the ambulance as free taxi service just to save money.
