It’s not that our black parents are ignorant, they just don’t know how to deal with it coz they didn’t go through it. They grew up in a different world where they didn’t have these things. Depression and stress is said to be White people things, even here in America when black people say their depressed, it’s seen as a joke not only by blacks. I went to a store the other day and I was telling my friend how stressed I was and she was like Bitch that shit is for white people. I laughed so hard coz when white people say it, it’s normal but for us hmm 🤔.

Our parents, especially in the black and coloured community, are not ready for this conversation. I have anxiety and depression and my mom has been my greatest supporter and motivator💛she is so cautious and always makes sure that im comfortable and okay at all times. I wish more parents took the time to sit and understand what their kids are actually going through rather than believing ukuthi they are spoilt and ungrateful.
