  • They're the best TT bars on the market, but I wanted to specifically breakdown why they're so great for triathletes!
    For more details and to buy one, head to tririg.com/pro...

    Ben this video is awesome! I just saw this. Thank you so much for the detailed look at the bar! Also great work on the videography. Nice composition, lighting, shallow depth of field, just lovely.

      Years later and there still aren't any bars that do it better than the Alpha One!

    Having two bottles up front (especially the 750ml) ones has a significant influence on the steering feel I must say. I know it's possible on the bar, but I'm not sure if I would recommend using two bottles, given almost 1.5 kg you will be adding.

      @bensummerdeal9528  2 года назад

      I'd agree with you there! I think one bottle is the optimal solution both from an aero perspective and handling, though some successful riders have gone with the two bottles up front option so it's probably feasible at least on flat, easy courses!

    One thing to probably note is that I’ve found in building my new bike that the stem can only fit the 3-port junction A versus the 5-port… not a huge deal, but I’ve had to certainly reconfigure wiring and even get a few new components (hood shifters) to achieve a clean setup.

    • @toml2616
      @toml2616 2 года назад

      Why would you need to get hood shifters? Just curious. I got my Alpha One system in the mail today and will be putting it on my Cervelo P-Series soon. I don't know much about di2, but don't see where a junction box could be hidden with these bars.

    Thanks for walking us through Ben! My question is how do you install this on a bike with mechanical shifters? I have a canyon speedmax cf 8 disc. I see I can set a phone call with you via Tririg, so maybe that is the best thing to do.

  • @keithgraham2446

    Very helpful video Ben! I noticed you are running a 1X, you just switched a Di2 lead wire over from the extensions to the base bar brake Di2 shifter? Then plugged the left extension and standard brake. Did you have to do anything special to make sure the extension shifter and base bar shifter control the rear derailleur? Thanks!

    • @bensummerdeal9528
      @bensummerdeal9528  2 года назад +1

      Hey Keith! When I set everything up I was just able to connect to the e-tube software via my charger/bcr2 and individually change each switch setting so both shifters control the rear derailleur. For hilly races, I sometimes add a front derailleur and then reprogram it so the brake lever shifter control the front derailleur. It's a bit of a hassle to hook it up but once you've done it a few times it's pretty easy to make changes!

    Hey Ben bars look great! 2 questions: 1-will the alpha one work with cervelo p5-3 (the older [2017] uci rim brake cervelo p5) ; 2- how do the scoops ultimate work with the extensions do you just cut whatever extension and plug it into the cradle? And so with that do you really need to get the gamma 115 or gamma one for example if you end up just cutting the end off to pop into the enclosure.

    • @bensummerdeal9528
      @bensummerdeal9528  2 года назад +1

      1. Yes the Alpha One will definitely work with the p5-3! Without a doubt the best cockpit upgrade for that bike, especially when paired with an Omega brake!
      2. Any 22.2mm extensions will work fine, so no need for tririg ones. Obviously any extension will require a lot of trimming as they insert about 2-3 inches into the end of the Scoops, so it's definitely a measure twice cut once type thing! Lots of customers just use their previous extension set or a spare pair they may have lying around. If you're looking at ordering the bundle but don't want the 115s or any extensions at all you can reach out to info@tririg.com and they can make the changes and keep the discounts.

    What about packing a bike with this cockpit for travel?

    • @bensummerdeal9528
      @bensummerdeal9528  2 года назад +1

      So it can come completely off the steerer tube if needed, but I use a case where the bars don't have to be removed. What's super convenient is that if you have electronic shifting, you can just unplug the extension shifters and remove the entire monopost/dragonfly from the bars. This shortens up the front end a ton and keeps some sensitive parts out of danger. That's what I do when traveling, especially since the Scoops Ultimate are so big and I can't just slide them back.

    Will it go onto my 2019 cervelo p3 or is a drill required? Also my bike has external cables and will they still be external or become internal with this setup?

      Base model is $1100 and there is almost always a 10% off code available, but I feel you! It's definitely one of those upgrades that has to be thought of as an alternative to a much more expensive new bike purchase.
