But something goes wrong with the memory implantation and he remembers being a secret agent fighting against the evil Mars administrator Cohaagen. Now the story really begins and it's a rollercoaster ride until the massive end of the movie.

Ironside was the perfect bad guy. Nothing over the top, just a calm, cool and collected bad guy. Also the perfect authority figure in any movie he was in. Loved his parts in Total Recall, Top Gun and Starship Troopers.

When Michael said that bit about not having to be himself, he could be someone else… that hit home a little too much! Thanks for not going back to roofing brother!
You’re absolutely right regarding the public duality of norms perceiving actors as the roles they play and not as a human being.
Kudos for being an amazingly cool dude!

Michael Ironside is criminally underused and underrated. I thought he was dead. He's one of the all time greats.

This is by far the best interview with anybody I've ever seen.
Those first 8 minutes about how he was afraid they would find out who he is and kick him out was so relatable. And how he says that he likes acting because then he doesn't need to be himself. Damn I was glued the whole interview. I've loved and rewatched total recall many times from the first day I saw it at the age of 6 or 7. But this interview will make it even more fun to watch.

He looks different probably because he’s a bit rounder in the face. Last film I saw him in was terminator salvation in 2009 and of course he’s Sam fisher from splinter cell

I remember him mentioning in an interview with Strombo that some cancers cause him to gain weight. Nothing official of course but that’s my assumption. Probably why they had Jeff replace him in R6. Really want to be wrong tho.

@@arthurrevan5811 He's actually had thyroid cancer twice and bowel and prostate cancer. Amazing he is still with us. His wife has also had breast cancer twice. You can count yourself lucky not only if you get cancer but survive it. Most of the treatments make you put on weight. I just fear with covid as it can do so much damage to those who have had other illnesses or are still suffering from them. Hope he makes it, we need guys like him in our movies

One of the best simple, satisfyingly hateable slimeball baddie roles in film, alongside Clarance in Robocop.
Sometimes you just want to unconditionally hate a baddie and feel that satisfaction when they get their just deserts.

So this interview is now almos 4 months old and he discussed a project that was supposed to start in January. Wondering if he is still okay and what work he has now. Would love an update for his fans. I'm in a goup on Facebook who are dedicated fans and would love to know what he is doing now. Thanks

Amazing actor, to me he could compete with Jack Nicholson. Loved all his roles, including the bikers series in Canada called The last Chapter where he plays the badass Bob Durrell. A must watch.

In closing as a Canadian, if I were to meet this man, I might ask the man for a handshake at best if it wasn't an inconvenience and just because I appreciate his honesty. Old school guy right there. One of the last of our stock soon to be forgotten in the dawn of the current. I enjoy his movies but I enjoy his honesty more. I would rather talk to this man about life than his movies and to be precise, not just his life but just life. This man has insight.
