There is a difference between sharp and definition. Evo is not sharper, it has more details or definition, you can sharp anything but is not the same as definition. People get this confuse all the time about camera resolution in witch means nothing to a video quality. It seams to me that Mavic 3 has a cheap glass/lens in witch it can not see well. That is common because lens are the most expensive part of any camera if you want great definition. Sensor means nothing if the lens can not see well.
You can see that the Mavic 3 video quality is way inferior than the Evol 2 Pro, the most important about camera capabilities is the photo and video is the definition. You can see that the Wendy face is blurred with the Mavic 3 and Evo clear. I would return it ASAP. get your money back and get new computer or other gears. Not worth a single penny for something that can not get close to a 2 years old drone. The Mavic 3 footage looks like an up-converted image to 4k, nothing more than that. I have seen better 1080p video better than the Mavic 3 can delivers. It seams like that DJI got Hubson fever, another guy just lost his $5000 cine version, it flow away.
Note: I create a video guide that anyone can download, for filming with any drones. It has the gray card in witch is a MUST for film anything. NEVER trust any cameras with White Balance, set your Kelvin to 5000K not k5500 and film the gray card for feel seconds, in one click you get the right colors with any drones. Happy Filming! Over a year later and I still love my evo 2 (v1). I generally run log, fixed shutter at 1/60, with nd. Works amazing. Color grading was a tad tricky to figure out in premire, but love it compared to auto coloring (to me over saturated).
You take comparisons very seriously, that helps a lot to decide what to buy, thank you so much!

Evo is much better image, but mavic is a little smoother movements…. question…. Have you ever compared the evo II pro to the skydio 2 plus for image quality? I think the evo would win again…. How old is this drone? With this detail the Autel has I would be worried if I was Dji for the new version coming out. Its clear to me IMO that the EVO seems to take better footage. GREAT video. I can't wait for the A2S video. I think after all the dust settles, the hype stalls out, people are starting to really see how good the A2S really is compared to a M3.
I think altu no Geo fencing is better it’s just easier to fly shoot in raw throw it through light room looks great
do you know if the geo fencing firmware upgrade is mandatory or can I opt out and still upgrade other fixes in future, if that make sense ?
I just saw night video comparison and the M3 Classic definitely had better dynamic range but you covered a lot more details along with the camera settings. Glad I went with the Autel.
I hope you revisit this match-up after all the m3 updates are released. Right now it seems to come down to less detail but wider fov yet more $$$. Your reviews have really improved this past year since I started to follow keep it up!
I don't know whether the infamous January '22 firmware update will fix this.

Wow, nice side by side comp! I own an EVO 2 Pro 6K V1. and looking to buy a Mavic 3. Damn the EVO looks better! This was a year ago, do you know if with updates things are different now?
Updates have loaded Mavic 3 with so many cool features but Evo camera is still better, although you can only tell when the footage is side by side!
There are some really good deals out there on mavic 3 right now!

Do you own or have you tried a Evo 2 pro version 3 I'm curious if it's worth doing the upgrade from an Evo 2 pro V1 keep in mind that mine is still in great condition and I have the original smart controller .

Great video! Image is better on the Evo but when I see the Evo remote I just cannot get myself to consider this drone. How do you find the remote and flying capabilities vs the Mavic?

I liked the warmer Evo colors right out of the box. But since I prefer grading in Log that doesn´t matter. What does matter is the much crisper image the Evo II pro produces. I am very impressed.
Look at the two blue and white cars in the parking lot. Evo: You can make out the skopes of the wheels. M3: Just a blob
Or the bricks from the wendy´s wall: Evo: Nice texture and rendering. M3: Just a mush.
What I did know already is that the picture of the M3 isn´t that crips at all. Even compared to the M2P it stands back. Many side by side comparisons have revealed the weakness of the M3 before. The one department the M3 excells in is the dynamic range. But stacked up against the Evo II Pro even in the shadows it could not see anything where the M3 beats the Evo. Look at the dark pine trees at 9:11, no discernable difference. I suspect that the bigger sensor, and a 4/3 is definitly a much bigger sensor (twice as big, actually), will play out it´s advantages when it comes to difficult light situations. So I can´t wait to see the next round of these two heavy-weight contenders in a night session.
In f4 Aperture priority, if anything, the superiority of the Evo is even more evident.
Sharpening the M3 (+3): Up to a point, Yes. But you can not sharpen what is not there to begin with. Like I said, no surprise there. Many people have indicated the softness of the M3.
The only downside of the Evo - it is the lesser aircraft.

Me too, the lite should be super beast itself, just like the evo2 pro, but with a upgraded, sensor, that lets in 40 percent more light at night, . It hard for me to imagine a drone, that has better lowlight than the evo2 pro. .The m3 has real good night performance also, but compared to the evo 2 pro, lowlight on the many lowlight videos, I have seen between the 2 the evo2 pro videos have more detail ,are cleaner, and have less noise. One exception I have seen though was Drone factors night video, the others used noise reduction software on their m3.
I’m curious how much of the issues with the Mavic 3 can be cleaned up through software updates? Wondering if some of this because so new?
You maybe able to sharpen the M3 image and/or increase pixelation via AI software.
But this comparison is about how they compare out of the box.

What do you think about the -EVO II Pro 6K V3- vs -EVO II Pro RTK V2-?
I'm hesitant on buying one of those two, or the Mavic 3 Classic, not only for photo and video, but also photogrammetry. Bad thing about Mavic 3 consumer drones (not enterprise) is DJI hasn´t released the SDK yet (and nobody knows if they will), so no third party software such as Dronelink, Dronedeploy, etc.

are lenses different ? or it seems cameras are not same distance to buildings , foreground on Mavic shows more real-estate, Also I notice blue color banding in the sky in almost every Evo shot. I like the both, Evo is strong choice and price point.

This crisper image definition from the Evo 2 Pro is more than just a slighly larger resolution on the E2P to the M3.
I think the optics (lens) is far better on the Evo 2 Pro camera.
If I remember correctly Evo is using bubble glass lens, whereas the mavic looks like a flat lens 🤔
But I don't have the resources or time to tear these things apart and check.
But we really have to start deep diving into things because companies are raising their prices on products!
I have a feeling that the M3's price is for the Hasselblad Color processing, not the hardware. The E2P's Sony camera is certainly a no pushover.
@@e.t.3165 The M3 high price could also be because they can get away with it. People will simply buy the drone because it's DJI.
People has not close what is resolution, sharp image, definition, sensors, compressions, and lens. The most important part of any camera is to capture the highest definition possible and not resolution. Resolution has ZERO to do with image quality, it is jus a container. Sharp image means anything, it does not mean quality. The Evo does seams to have better lens, the Mavic 3 footage looks like an up-converted 1080p video. The clear and detailed image from the EVO has comes from the lens. That's why I keep saying to people that Sensors sizes means nothing if the lens can not see well and how must it needs to see. There is one ONE reason why people spent money on this drone, PURE marketing fever. That shows how much marketing get into people, and DJI uses people that some folks trust and they endup f#%#$%$# like the guy from Chicago lost his $5000 cine from, it flow ways.
@@xavier_arthur That's correct E2P has a bubble lens.
I don't love the warmer color on E2P, some do... personal taste as you say, right Xavier? I generally drop WB down a bit. Another, less "natural" setting I like is a bit of "defog" on the Autel (I can HEAR you groaning, lol) but I like what it does to color & contrast. It's actually more "DJI" with that boosting of contrast, but in certain conditions, I just like it, on a setting of 2 or 3. I don't do color grading yet, other than this hack while filming. Almost like a photo filter of sorts. I'm gonna bet you would hate it! 🤪 😏 😉
Different and really beautiful image, but 3k different. Glad I went with the FPV. Can always strap a light weight hd camera on it. Great video and split screens.
Just a guess, but I think the E2P will be just as good if not better in low light.

Banding in the blue sky in Evo is very bad… Is it 8 bit camera?
Some dramatic differences in captured detail between the two, no doing about it. The Evo II pushes it too far with on board sharpening, but based on these comparisons, Autel has an advantage shot this way. Hopefully you can do a Log comparison. That’s the outcome which matters most. I fly them both but haven’t had a chance to get them in the air at the same time to do my own in depth side by side. All image issues aside, I enjoy flying the Mavic 3 much more than the Evo II.
Everyone loves sharpening i remember the mavic 2 pro would produce some pretty soft video footage and it annoyed the hell out of me . The evo is so good.
Yeh most people were pissed at the mavic 2 being too soft people love sharpness.

Nice comparison although is it me or does the Evo2 have some severe banding issues in the sky? Maybe it’s RUclips but definitely seems more visible on the Evo2 than mavic 3
Evo 2 Pro - 5.4k is 8 bit, M3 - 5.1k is 10 bit. Maybe the reason for this.
On the Evo II only 4K is 10 bits, otherwise it's 8 bits.
I would’ve loved to have seen a 10bit comparison. That 8 bit banding is not going to be acceptable for pro work…
10 bit holds up well on both Drones.
My problem isn't the color, it's the details 😭
@@xavier_arthur for me it’s both. I think you did a fantastic job at breaking down how much better the Evo’s details are. But being that the Mavic 3 records at 200mbps vs Evo’s 120mbps makes me wonder if there is simply more color information to work with on the Mavic which is also important when grading. I’m so torn between the two!

As There is a third version of this model, V3. I have seen some night videos that are spectacular, as well as the photos. 20 MP Sony one-inch sensor, 6K, 12 bit DNG, 4K HDR, Moonlight 2.0 Algorithm + excel noise reduction for night shots, etc etc etc.....
But I have not found a review like this about this new model that has been on the market for a few months now.
The variable aperture of this camera is from f2.8 to f11. Someone previously asked about this information but it was about the previous model.
All you need is dare to do it and give us another spectacular review like this one.

Your video is comparing at 5X Zoom. The M3 skips from the 4X crop on the main, to 7X on the tele lens. Not sure how you get 5X, assuming it was cropped in post.
And you did say in the video that the M3 x4 zoom did not improve its performance with better image definition.
Exactly 7x is optical from teli lense 4x 5x is crop from primary camera
I think he zoomed in 5x on the timeline, not in camera.
Thank you for the video! Mavic 3 is overpriced and not completed. It sounds like DJI had it all completed but then decided to add another camera on top of primary camera which thrown everything out of whack....

Dan Watson exposed the Mavic 2 Pro as an absolute joke compared to Evo 2 Pro. His comparison showed just HOW much detail the E2P is capable of in 4K as well as the 6K (that's actually 5.4 as we know. Check it if you haven't seen it. So I'm not super surprised that even the 4/3rd sensor falls a bit shy in detail. Killer night camera, that HNCS amazes me. My M3 Flymore is on the way back for replacement by DJI. long story.

This is shocking to be honest. The much older Evo thoroughly spanked the brand new Mavic 3 in sharpness and detail!!! Can you include the Mavic 2 Pro in future comparisons?

The Mavic 3 has more contrast than E2P does. DJI should keep the style mode to adjust for a low light.
Hi, thank you for the comparison between the DJI and Autel drones. IMO you have got the DJI fanboys doing hissyfits. lol One can buy a refurbished Autel EVO ll 8k for $1099 and the 6k for $1299. Is the Mavic 3 worth $900 more? I don't think so. The EVO's also do missions for mapping, the Mavic 3 does not.

Is there possibly something wrong with the Mavic 3 you were shipped? I've compared your Mavic 3 footage to other YT reviewers equivalent footage (that I had already seen) and I did not see the same kind of lack of detail/sharpness. I realise the Mavic 3's image is 'softer' than the Air 2S's (for instance) and that there are legitimate gripes about certain aspects, but I have not seen the same level of issues that you are experiencing in other reviewers' footage. And I know from your excellent videos that it is not any lack of knowledge or skill on your part.
It could be a lens issue, focus issue or where he focused in the image. The micro 4/3 sensor is larger than 1 inch, that would mean the I inch would have a deeper focus plane than the micro 4/3. A full frame sensor will prob do worse unless its stopped down.That might be the difference.
why so much banding in sky, you applied sharpness?
btw I suppose e2p uses heavy image processing before sd-card recording, such as sharpness, NR, something like HDR stacking
I have a question. Do you believe that the firmware update coming up in January 2022 will correct and put the mavic 3 leaps and bounds above the evo 2? The reason why I ask is because of this.... for the price point of $3000 this is not a future proof purchase as of today. Keeping in mind that the evo 3 has been rumored to be coming out in 2022!!! Not only that but let's say the mavic 3 firmware update will make it a little bit better than the evo 2 what about getting 2yrs of being the best drone for the money like the mavic 2 before it. This has turned from being the best awaited release of a drone to a complete let down. I'd go as far as to say that even if dji dropped the price $1000 it's not worth it. It's simply has become a bit like a cellphone. Only good a year if you're lucky
The January firmware update is mostly intelligent flight modes I believe.
This looks like an issue about the lens & sensor performance. It would need sharpening software to fix part of it. Don't know whether DJI can increase pixelation.
Do you believe with the firmware update in January 2022 will make the mavic 3 better than the evo 2 pro by a substantial amount ? Also, there's a rumor that the evo 3 is coming out in early 2022 is that the best bet for getting a future proof drone for at least 2yrs of being top tech drone?
@@messagesent you cannot fix in software a problem from hardware, just try and hide it... I was disappointed by how they have implemented the sensor and the quality of it in M3.
Have u ever seen some, my , a woman, a car , a house, and u instantly new it was the f bomb. When u first saw the evo2 pro 6k , footage, from autel, and the footage from the future from Australia, I instantly new, this drone was ahead of it's time, in image quality. I'm a night flyer, and the evo2 pro, is all that I could ask for , it's a super beast, night killer. That footage u did on the m3 was the best night footage I have seen, on youtube . 90 percent of the people had to use noise reduction software, and it still had some noise, The evo2, pro I have never had to use ,noise reduction software, and it has less noise than the m3. I didnt see any in yours, but other youtubers, had some. Anyway waiting to see your night footage, of the ,2, in my mine I already know the winner, but I could be proved wrong, lol. but I don't think so.
I agree I am not putting the Mavic 3 down it is an excellent drone but for the price and and video/picture quality, 360 obstacle avoidance and the night video footage is just amazing the evo 2 pro is a better buy. Even though I love using the Evo 2 Pro more I don't think you can go wrong with the Air 2S it is a great buy based on features. Wonderful detailed review @dronexfactor keep them coming!!

I love your channel man..but I think you are missing it here. While there SHOULD be more detail in the EVO2, given the sensors higher resolution, the differences here are pretty marginal...and the EVO is exhibiting huge sharpening artifacts (look around the powerllines). Those are unacceptable to me. The DJI is much more delicate relative to the detail which is simply more preferable for cinematic video, and probably can be sharpened to match the EVO. I know nothing about the Autel AC, so I don't know if that sharpening can be turned down effectively. I'm more convinced with your daylight comparison relative to the Air2s, as both AC seem to have similar sharpening profiles, and the Air2s does seem to have more detail. especially considering its wider lens.

Whenever I get on these posts everybody's Talkin about how great the cameras the cameras and camera that,,,,, okay. What is the flight time. Can it handle heavy wind....how long??????
I can tell you :
Is flying around 35 minutes on new battery, 33 minutes on 40 cycles one.
Is handling wind up to 55 km/h, never tried higher than this. It can be handled very well, but pay attention that you need to switch to Ludacris mode, equivalent of Sport mode from DJI. How long? Depends on wind, is not a measurement that can be made on a fix base as wind have variations and guts.
The big plus is the gimbal stability in wind and in Ludacris mode, as is rock solid... Dji was moving at this wind if gimbal get at 45 degrees, the Evo2Pro gimbal is not disturbed. Probably because of more powerful motors from gimbal.

I was thinking to buy the Mavic 3 before watching this review ! Not anymore ! I’ll keep my Autel Enterprise as primer drone.
I can clearly tell that diffrence is not just because of resolution. It's way better optics on evo. Also evo keeps hightlights better under control. I saw other comparaions and evo does have better dynamic range overall.
The biggest reason the Evo2 appears sharper is the canvass size of 16,831,872 pixels vs 13,824,000 (Mavic 3) pixels.
The Evo2 has almost 3M more pixels to capture any data than the Mavic 3.
Reduce any HD resolution to VGA or less and you are lessening the ability to capture and display data with each reductive step.
For astrophotography the easiest way to get more image is to increase sensor size. Most high quality DSLRs have about a 20-24 Mpixel sensor to mount to the telescope.
Yet, you get a Fujifilm GFX camera with a 100Mpixel medium format sensor, all of a sudden you've about quadrupled your resolution keeping the same optics.
Sharpness is about canvass size.
You can call it larger canvas size if you want, i think theres more to it than just this, as the M3 sensor is alot bigger.
Nonetheless this comparison shows the image definition (not sharpness) is superior on the E2P, compared to DJI's latest & greatest fold up drone. DJI's claim of having the best is falling short with this comparison.
@@ozstrayapanoramas8610 of course it's simplified. Even with Hasselblad optics, 3 million pixels less than the Evo2 is more than 1/5th the available number of pixels the M3 can use. If you can't collect data on nearly 3 million dots, you have to guess how to make up the difference between where you have no data (sometimes called 'interpolation'). Which is where the M3 fails. Upscaling w/ interpolation always is incomplete. This is just like the interpolation/upscaling that a Blu-Ray optical player does for standard definition optical discs. You get a better-than-standard-definition image, but not near the quality of same video from Blu-Ray format
To have higher resolution/sharpness than the Evo2 you simply need more than 16.3+ megapixels of resolution.
I think what Hasselblad brings is the precision optics that doesn't curve a horizon, utility pole, straight building edges, etc. For the M3, this ensures the image from the subject isn't adulterated on the way to capture on the sensor. Any quality camera lens shouldn't adulterate the image. For quality camera drones more attention to the optics is emphasized typically as drone cost increases.

I believe it maybe the other way around, the Autel may have a better lens than the M3 with more sharpness/resolving power, hence the crisper definition.
The 2 drones are compared with what pixelation they have on offer, so whilst they are different, I find excuses for the different pixelation is just a distraction to the performance of each drone out of the box.
It is what it is, the E2P is performing better than the M3 in this comparison.

The big difference between then- and now- is digital media that behaves more like color slide photography than negative photography.
Either way, same rules of capture applies regardless of media. I know I use a camera that shoots a 8"x10" negative, I'll get lots more resolution than anything rear a 35mm format
Same with drones and the image size captured.

M3 is blowing the highlights in my estimation.
So true, I think DJI needs to retune the exposure at 0 value for better exposure
@@xavier_arthur That would bring a lot of those details back. Canon had the same issues with their MkIV camera. I think the M3 will get better.
Dji is known for burning details in low light as from 0 to 5% it will just put black in video instead of details in order to look less noisier.
This was on A2S and M2P as well, in M2P if you get in Log and go to - 2 contrast you get only a Grey space, no details.
Evo2Pro is boosting at - 2 the black to Grey but also recovers the details.
That is a marketing choice from DJI.

Is it me or..... did you just prove to all of us that the Mavic 3 is over-priced and not truly the best bang for your buck? ... I'm really starting to like the Evo 2 as my upgrade from my Mavic air 2.

And helps you with what? That 7x zoom is a pure garbage, you cannot use it for clients as looks like shit.
We talk here about drones that are in almost PRO, expecting to go with them at work and make projects...
We also have both, M3 will be sent back to dealer for full refund because of:
1. Purple areas in sensor on sides
2. Discrepancies in focusing areas, a lot of lens errors (like the lens optics is fkd-up or the sensor inside is not placed properly.
For better zoom take a Mavic 2 Zoom :))))

I have both and prefer DJI colours and flying. Just that geofencing thing sometimes kills me.
